"Here is some footage I shot with my Zoom Q3HD camera. I would just sit the camera by someone playing a synth with the audio jacked right into the camera's input. Lots of John Bowen Solaris featured here along with some Kawai K5000, SCI Prophet 600 and DSI Tempest.

I have a little bit more footage I shot with my Canon T3i with Zoom H4N capturing the audio - so it will take me a little longer to sync up that audio (mostly the electronic drum set and me playing on the VP-330)."

I made a set outdoors this time.
It is comfortable to play outside on the day when it was fine.
Look at a new trial by all means.
In a sharp groove of thick baseline and MC-303 by 3VCO of Volca Bass
I picked up the riff that was melodious of Volca Keys and listened and it was comfortable and finished it.
Naturally the strong acid phrase of x0xb0x is in good health!

Huge thanks to retrotechnical for posting this. I wasn't sure if I was going to have the opportunity to post something on Lou Reed's passing. This site is synths only after all.

As most of you know, Lou Reed passed away yesterday at the age of 71. He wasn't a synth freak, but he was known to play the Haken Continuum. He was also referred to in various posts on the site.

Lou Reed was one of my favorite artists and his tracks specifically with The Velvet Underground marked some pivotal moments in my life. His music more than anyone else taught me to be open and tolerant of alternative lifestyles. I was into alternative music in the classic 80s sense, but the whole purpose which began as "Taking a Walk on the Wild Side" turned into so much more.  His music wasn't wild.  It wasn't about glorifying the alternative.  It was about the calm, peace and acceptance of what some might perceive as strange.  It was just life and he made living life better.  I will miss him and his music.

Update:  Lou Reed was married to Laurie Anderson who of course is a big synth buff and has been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH numerous times.  Sincere condolences to her and his friends and family.

"Monochromies is a musical and visual meditation on the notion of color, composed for Virus TI. The idea of monochrome is very often associated to a single color considered in itself as the substance of a painting, since Yves Klein invented his famous blue and used it constantly in reference to cosmos and alchemy. But this conception is not aware that a genuine monochrome is far more than a unique tone and Yves Klein who was initiated to the secrets of color as well as alchemy perfectly knew it. Behind the visible radiance of a his symbolical atmospheric blue, all the dimensions of the spectrum are gathered in a composition of their different values, forming the specific vibration of the cosmic substance this artist invented. Such a strange phenomenon is not only poetry or the sign of an ancient belief conveyed into a kind of painter's mysticism, but also a physical reality. Every color radiates through the others and produces the specific aura of each of them. As an alchemist wrote about the philosophical stone " It has every color, white, red, yellow, blue sky, green", is also true in the filed of music since colors and sounds are two expressions of the same basic reality. In this piece, I try to explore it by a combination of music and visual events, divided into four moments, each one corresponding to an element, but also according to a process in three dimensions plus one (space and time, sides of the triangle and their blossom in a final fourth absolute form in which the distinct lines and angles finally unite. These different moments are also successive enters into the core of the universe mystery through musical and visual doors (this is why I used the noise of a genuine door in the third enter, in association with the sounds of the Virus TI, from 6:27 to 7:52). Each door leads to a deeper vision until the piece reaches its end in the suspension of the enigma, close to its revelation, but a few steps before it since we can just go on the border but never cross it. The only knowledge we are allowed to reach being the intuition of the other side through our journey of impossible discovery.

Dinosaurier Synthesizer Meeting 25.-27.10.2013

Last weekend in Bocholt, Germany the Dinosaurier Synthesizer Meeting 2013 was held with tons of gear,  a DIY solder workshop by Curetronic Modular and some jams.

It was a very nice relaxed athmosphere with much geartalk, headphone jamming at the different machines and a little bit beer.  It was organized by Citric Acid and Mick Pluto

"Moog Music was born when a young Bob Moog started tinkering with electronic circuitry. As a boy, Moog built small radios, amps, and Theremins in his basement workshop with his father and the rest is history. This experimentation with the inner workings of electronic devices to create new sounds and effects has been developed into an art form known as circuit bending.

Circuit bending is a creative medium that combines technology, sonic artistry and creativity. By altering the internal circuitry of electronic devices such as keyboards, drum machines, and children's toys, circuit benders are able to produce new sounds not intended in the original design.

In celebration of this creative curiosity that fueled a young Bob Moog and all of those that follow in his footsteps, Moog is sponsoring its 4th Annual Circuit Bending Contest.

"For many years the Technics SX-C600 has been one of my favourite organs. I have often thought about how the Technics keyboards are and last summer I got the chance to get one for a reasonable price at an outdoor second hand sale.

I haven't recorded anything with it untill now because I have been busy moving. But a couple of days ago I played this version of the old George McCrae Classic 'Rock your baby'. I haven't used any multitracker of sequencer. Just the keyboard plugged into the computer.

BTW the disco balls are not a part of the instrument :-)"

"The unit appears to be working reasonably well, however one thing I noticed is that LFO/MOD movement on the bender seems to be not responding, and also the sound becomes slightly unstable on the sideways bend. It should probably do with some servicing on the bender board, if not use as is. Otherwise, all the keys and knobs and buttons working fine, as well as Sequencer and Arpeggio functions. No noticeable noise on the knobs and sliders..."
