Instruo Ts-L And Tona Oscillators With Doepfer Regelwerk Sequencing

Published on Nov 5, 2018 Perfect Circuit

"We just got the Instruo Ts-L and Tona oscillators in from Instruo and made this jam video with them, using a Doepfer Regelwerk as the sequencer. The drum sounds come from the SSF Entity Bass and Percussion Synthesizer modules. The envelopes, gates and effects are the Endorphin.es Grand Terminal and TINRS Edgecutter.

The Tona and Ts-L are both analog eurorack VCOs with interesting wave-folders. The Tona is generating the bass synth sound and the Ts-L is generating the slower synth line.

october by sinedrifter [featuring the Elektron Digitone... all music was done w only the Digitone]

Published on Nov 4, 2018 Sinedrifter

"Just a taste of what the Elektron Digitone can do. This is part of my live set, where all of my music is under 60 BPMs. Towards the end, we drop to 33 BPMs.

FM synthesis is powerful, and beautiful. These are all either pure sine waves, or modulated sine waves. For an 8-voice synth, as you can see, the Elektron Digitone delivers rich sounds and an enjoyable FM synthesis experience. No overdubbing was needed.

All footage was shot by Cam Arjent, and they did all editing as well. Music was by performed by Sinedrifter. The band appears momentarily. I'd like to thank Yira and Dottie for their priceless contributions.

A little bit of extra info: our DAW of choice is Cubase 4.5 running on an Apple Mac G5 Quad (who needs new computers?) All mastering was done using the Focusrite Liquid Mix (no sense in upgrading when you have something that works really well). All footage was shot on a Sony a7 mmii using a Zeiss 55mm f1.5 lens, wide open. Film grain was added in post. Shot on location in Vasquez Rocks State Park, California.

This film is not meant to entertain, but to immerse.

For promotional use only. All content is Copyright 2018 Cam Arjent."

PAIA Stereo Chord Egg (3790)

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is a legendary PAIA Stereo Chord Egg from the 1970's. When powered with 12v (e.g. 8 x 1.5v batteries), it generates a rising and falling swell of harmonious chords and notes that will calm your alpha waves and bring peace to your soul. Or, at least, it will sound pretty cool.

I built this from the PAIA kit. It works. And, did I mention it's cool? But, it's time for it to find a new home.

Comes with the board and original instruction booklet (as shown). Book was slightly annotated and marked as I followed the build procedure.

These are extremely rare. And, ones that work are even more rare.

Note: If you purchase this, you should be comfortable putting together and connecting a power supply for this (e.g. connecting it to a battery holder with the correct polarity) and handling a circuit board (static can damage some of the chips). Or, at least, you should have a friend who is."

You can find a few in the archives including some demos here.

"Essentially this module is a Buchla 259 which has been condensed into a 1-panel width module (some of the vintage circuit design has been condensed/modernized). This build does use original Excelitas vactrols where they are called for, all parts are to spec as per the Electricmusicstore BOM

Sounds a bit like a 259r, a bit like a 261e... Very flexible and a huge range of timbres. Selling only only to fund my purchase of a 200e series oscillator."

Vermona '14: Mono Study #1; "A Voice Rises"

Published on Nov 5, 2018 Kris Lennox

"Writing standalone solo works for a mono synth can be a challenge i.e. only one note, no harmony etc. This is the first from a set of mono works written within a two-octave range.

The idea is to write music anyone can try, irrespective of equipment. If someone owns he likes of an Alesis Q25/any form of 25-key MIDI controller, they could play this work on it. These works don't even have to be performed on synth - they could be performed on guitar, on violin etc. The positive RE a limited range is opening up potential instrumentation/suitability.

Delay should be very obvious. I spent a lot of time structuring this work; at certain points you'll hear what sounds like a human voice rising from the synth. It is the combined effect of tone, delay, and dynamic accent - more so the delay/accent.

1:40 is the first appearance of the human-like voice: the music is running through 6-note semiquaver phrases, which displaces the patterning of the delay against the grouping - which gives rise to the vocal-like effect.

However, the most prominent occurrence is at c. 2:25 - at this point the semiquaver groupings change to 5-note phrases, again displacing the delay pedal/phrase relationship. I'm also slightly accenting the note I want to rise.

Keeping the timing steady to achieve this is very difficult, as the effect only happens when the rhythmic synchronisation is locked in.

Difficult to achieve, but worth the effort!

Best
Kris"

Moog One V1.0.1 Update

The first update for the Moog One is available here. The following are the release notes. You'll find a list of known issues being worked on below.

V1.0.1 RELEASE NOTES

1. MIDI improvements: Hardware now sends and receives MIDI Pitch Wheel, Mod Wheel (CC 1), Aftertouch (Channel Pressure), and MIDI CCs for Pad X (CC 75), Pad Y (CC 76), and Pad Pressure (CC 77). Each Synth can send/receive on its own independent MIDI Channel, or they can all use the same channel.

2. Increased gain of external microphone input.

3. Refined operation of Unison mode: Fixed issues with notes re-triggering on release, or re-triggering while Unison
Detune is adjusted.

"If you're here, you probably already know how much of a diamond in the rough this synth is. DSP based analog modeling, 5 octave keyboard, ribbon controller and mod wheel, each patch can have two scenes (layers). 10 voice mono-timbral, 5 voice bi-timbral, 2 oscillators per voice, eight assignable knobs allow complete control of all parameters, arpeggiator and sequencer. It also has FEG (free envelope generator), which is a way of recording up to 48 secs of movement/automation for four parameters per patch. Honestly, most VSTs still can't compare to this lowkey 90s gem. To my ears, it's my favorite VA, outside of maybe the Virus."

Synth Magic Chroma Polaris for Kontakt 5.8.1 and higher

Published on Nov 1, 2018 Synth Magic

Pre-order period (only £30 during pre-order rising to £50 after pre-order)Currently, more presets are being designed during the pre-order period and will also be included.
a Kontakt instrument based on the Chroma Polaris Synthesiser. Polar uses a 4.2GB collection of sounds made on a real Polaris and comes with full effects section and a sequencer."

"Based on the Chroma Polaris, Polar is a Kontakt 5.8.1 and higher (full version of Kontakt is required and not the free player)library of sounds created on a Chroma Polaris analogue synth and then sampled.

The Chroma Polaris is a real beauty of a synth capable of creating lush sounds and also hard edged sounds with a strong gritty analogue tone and yet you can definitely hear the ARP synthesisers heritage in its sound.

I absolutely love the Chroma Polaris and wanted to ensure I captured the heart and soul of this beautiful sounding synth, so it has been a bit of a labour of love for me. All of the raw OSC's have been sampled and a large variety of presets and custom sounds have been sampled. All samples are available within the instrument via waveform menus for immediate access(and streamed from hard drive), no messing around loading in different sample sets - Polar is quick and easy to use.

Polar will provide you with the beautiful Polaris strings, synths, analogue keys, a beautiful analogue Polaris piano, leads, synth tones, basses etc. The user interface graphics were designed in a country known for great design : Sweden, by world renowned graphic interface designer - Anders Hedstrom. The effects section has some nice features including the delay and reverb sends can be controlled by your Modwheel - It is great fun to have the arp or the sequencer running and then push your modwheel to bring in reverbs and delays

In making Polar, we sampled a large and wide range of sounds from the Polaris and presented them in a easy to use waveform menu x 2 and we also added multiple filters and MIDI syncable LFO's, an arpeggiator and and a wide range of effects. Also included is a fun and easy to use sequencer which can sequence notes, octave and note length, filter cutoff, resonance, reverb and delay sends. Sequencer has randomise functions, shift left/right, inverse etc it is childs play to come up with groovy sequencers and then transpose them using your keyboard.

Polar comes with over 200 snapshots (and I'm still creating and adding more snapshots during pre-order period) so you can get to use the great sounds of the Chroma Polaris in your productions."

Midilar & VCV Rack - First Patch

You can switch between modules and customize it, and it can control anything that can be controlled by MIDI, like DAWs, Soft Synths, and Hardware. This video is my first patch with it using VCV Rack, and I'm controlling Plaits (Macro Oscillator 2) and Grids (Topograph) from Mutable Instruments, Plateau from Valley, Trummor 2 and Tangents from Vult, and the Delay from AS.
I have it assigned to various parameters in VCV Rack, and I'm playing everything live.

Erica Synths Black Hole DSP2 (mega modular FX) *In Depth Euroack Demo*

Published on Nov 5, 2018 DivKidVideo

"**TIMING INDEX / SECTIONS BELOW** Here we have the wonderful Black Hole DSP2 from Erica Synths. It's a huge mega uber FX module for the Eurorack format with a tonne of delays, granular FX, reverbs, drone machines, pitch shifters, buffer effects and more! We can go from beautiful warm and lush FX, through more noisy and abstract FX alongside some unique patches/algorithms. We have a CV-able dry/wet blend, crush (with CV) to lower the internal clock rate and slow/pitch down the effects into noise and downsampling effects, there's 3 parameters per effect all with CV inputs and it's true stereo in and out (but mono to stereo is nice to create a stereo image). Throughout the video I show off each effect with a synth sequence (mainly the Erica Synths Graphic VCO [link below]) but there's at least one other sound per effect too with drums or samples (piano, thumb piano, synth stuff, textural beds etc). So grab a drink and sit through it or skip around below as you see fit. Cheers!

Eurorack modular ambient with Erica Synths modules .

Published on Nov 5, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Today time comes for real music, a little ambient for those who like light sound, I used here only modules by Erica Synths ,one voice from PICO VCO, the other from PICO VOICE rest modules used Black VC EG, Black Quad VCA, Black Modulator, Black Dual VCF, Black Stereo Mixer, ,PICO SEQ ,PICO DSP, and finally I added tube sound from Fusion Mixer this set provided such a sound.

generally I love these modules because they give a lot of sounds though PICO VCO has 2 banks-16 waves each, or PICO VOICE 8 great sounding like Karplus Strong, Chords, Wavetable, TB303 bassline emulation, PWM, Supersaw, Wavefold and Harmonic saturation so you can generate extensive sound palettes from only two 3HP modules each.
of course, I am talking only about the waves and each module has many other possibilities.
