Cherry Audio announces the release of Voltage Module Designer

"Cherry Audio is proud to announce the release of Voltage Module Designer, a companion development tool created to facilitate the development of modules for use in Voltage Modular, their innovative new modular synthesis platform. Voltage Module Designer is a complete integrated development environment that simplifies module layout, coding, testing, and publishing so that users can quickly implement their module ideas and add them as working modules to their Voltage Modular library or even submit them for sale on the Cherry Audio store and Voltage Modular in-app store. All modules in Voltage Modular, whether from Cherry Audio or thirdparty developers, were created and built with Voltage Module Designer.

Mateusz Wozniak, Head of Development at PSPaudioware.com, states, 'The Voltage Module Designer is the easiest tool for designing your own piece of music software that I have ever worked with. It combines an extremely easy visual development environment with the algorithmic flexibility of Java. I wish that doing plug-in prototypes in any format would be as easy as doing release versions in Module Designer.'

MIDERA | The derelict DX7s

"I picked up this terribly uncared for DX7s from a middle school band teacher tonight. There was tape above three keys (indicating that they likely didn't work), he said the whole thing didn't make any sounds, one key was raised above the others, and that something came up on the screen. Well, yes, the battery needs to be replaced, and so does that key, but everything else worked fine. She's just a little abused. This was one of the messed up patches that was on the DX7s, I loved it so much, I had to do something with it before I replace the battery."

"The synth that got forgotten, shamed and never got to it's chance. People called it dull and dry sounding... F... that! This thing is one of the best sounding synths made, you just need some FX to bring it to light. Dual DCO + SUB, 4 LFO(!), 2 ENV, Sync, PWM, Analog Filter, Velocity... If you can't make anything from that, play nintendo!
Just using a bit of Eventide H9 to get more life in to it, it really shines."

Mini Jam Monday #32 | Korg Volca FM, Keys, & Sample + Volca Mix

"Hey guys! 🙂 I didn't work today so I figured I would try and get a mini jam in... and this is what I got. This one was interesting because it was my first time using the Korg Volca Mix in a jam since I bought it. It was a fun jam, but I am still trying to determine whether or not the Volca Mix was worth the money.... 🤔 lol It certainly has some useful features, but it definitely could have been a bit better with at least 1 more channel/input. 😔 Fortunately, I tend to use about 3 Volcas at a time anyways... so it works out. lol 😏

For this jam, I have the Volca Keys playing the main sequences (bass and rhythm melody); the Volca FM is playing some arpeggios; and the Volca Sample is on drum/percussion duties. All of the audio is being mixed by the Volca Mix with some reverb provided by the Boss RV-6.

Technos Acxel Additive Synthesizer Sequenced By Elektron Digitakt

"All of the sounds are coming from the rare and bizarre Technos Acxel additive synthesizer in multitimbral mode. Even the intro sound was resynthesized by the Acxel. We used an Elektron Digitakt as a sequencer to sequence six of the voices of the Acxel. The Acxel was designed in 1989 and was cutting edge technology at the time with its multiple voices which each have 32 additive "cells" and the ability to analyze four seconds of sound and resynthesize it.

"The Technos Acxel Resynthesizer is an additive synth developed in Quebec, Canada during the late 1980s. Its architecture is based on sine-wave oscillators that are each assigned amplitude and pitch envelopes to form the component harmonics of a sound.

The major innovation of the Acxel was, according to Technos, resynthesis. The idea is to sample a sound and extract its harmonic content using the Acxelizer. This information is then used to assign parameters, including envelopes, to the oscillators.

The Acxel comes in two pieces: the Solitary and the Grapher. The Solitary contains the main guts of the machine, including the main CPU board, the oscillator boards, the sampling board, the Acxelizer board, the floppy drive, and the I/O.

The Grapher is the machine’s user interface and is what Technos highlighted in its advertising. It’s a vacuum-fluorescent display for status information and menus and a surface of touch-sensitive nodules, 2114 of which contain LEDs.

The MPG-70 features panel knobs and sliders to control all 44 original PG-800 parameters, plus all extra parameters added by the Vecoven firmware and PWM upgrades. "This started as a test for a midified Vermona ER-9 and ended in a complete melancholic, mellow song featuring a little, free, oriental VSTi plugin in simply love, called 'Oud'. As we all know an Oud is an ancient plucked instrument from the middle east.

Drums coming from a midified vintage Vermona ER-9 Drumbox. The theme, played by Ambika, is sent through an Ibanez UE405 guitar fx offering analogue chorus and bucket brigade delay (and some strange noises from time to time). Dreadbox Nxy playing the bass. Then some strings contributed by the K4 and coloured by a racked Vermona graphic equalizer (offering channel-cascading for extreme EQ results). The EQ's output is made wide by the Zoom MT100BT's 'HD-HALL'. Finally the Phoscyon 303 emulation running through an automated Fruity Loop's 'Delay 3'.

Fully serviced, all tantalum capacitors and some electrolytics replaced, qualibrated and ready to play. Design revisited with brushed aluminium and precious wood work (original plywood parts included for a reverse job if necessary) some of the original knobs replaced ( the original ones will be included ). 4 Vco's, 2 VCF Multiple EG's and ramps 3 LFO's, this monster is also capable of duophonic mode . The added korg joystick ( dss1 donor) is mechanically mounted but not yet implemented so it could be used for the desired control with simple proper wiring. One of the switches is missing his lever but can still be easily used. Very fat and musical sounds from kitsch 70's stuff to the ultra modern sharp and huge sounds everything is possible with it."

I have a small movie with module Pico Switch from Erica Synths.
Sometimes so small modules have a big meaning when we want to switch between different modulations manually and it's a great solution because this 3HP module provides a 3 switch connection with modulation or other fun as you can come up with the Switch module, but it is also designed for simple audio signal transmission ( several VCO) or cv signal (sequencers, EG, LFO).here also used with Black Modulator use LFO.
It is interesting that this module extends the possibilities and you can have it for 21 € and it is definitely an attractive price."
