"We just took delivery of our new Moog Matriarch. We set it right up and spent a couple of minutes turning knobs until we had a satisfactory sound to start experimenting. What this video shows is the first 8 minutes of trying it out. No manual, no studying, no patch work (yet)... just playing around. Conclusion: We love it, and now to start digging deeper!"

Jamming with Polyend Preset Eurorack module

Published on Sep 17, 2019 Polyend

"The Preset adds an entirely new layer of replicability in your modular system, which is especially useful for live musicians. Program the notes sequences using one of the 32 build-in musical scales. Record the automation using the encoders. Or maybe copy an existing LFO or envelope from another module using the CV input. These all can be later recalled out of one of the 9 Preset CV outputs. You could build an entire performance with the use of the Preset module. Each recording of voltage can be up to 30 seconds in length. Worth mentioning is that everything you do in the Preset is being autosaved.
Thatʼs already a lot of functionality, right? But it's just the beginning."

"Very rare vintage analogue drum machine with auto accompaniment.

Not working as it should the drum machine section seems to work and is programmable as it should be but only sometimes. Sometimes when you turn it on it doesn't work and needs to be turned on again. The auto accompaniment side doesn't seem to function at all."

Kawai SX-210 Teisco SYN-42 Micro Computer Board Repair Kit

via this auction

"This is a set of all the components you will ever need to repair the Kawai (or Teisco) SX-210 micro computer board (SYN-42) known for the ni-cd battery leakage problem. I had a customer that brought me 9 (nine) units to repair, all with the same problem.

Beside repairing the board, you will be able to change for a stable lithium battery (included, as well as the components and instructions to do it). I will provide you a clean PDF service manual and some extra instructions (from advice on how to remove corroded components to reloading the factory presets, etc.). I will also provide you the banks'presets in .wav format and the instructions manual. This is not a task for beginners, you have to be able to solder and desolder 2 faces PCBs. But you can take this kit to a local repair shop, and they will gladly do the job. The time consuming part is sourcing these components. I am always available to help fellow synth lovers. Try me.

The KIT contains all the parts next to the battery and some others that I used in some moment to repair the boards:

1 CPU Intel P8031 (this one is far from the battery, but I had to change it in some boards due to short circuits)
1 2764 Programmed EPROM with the last known firmware
2 ULN2003A darlington transistor array
1 SN74LS374N
1 µPD8253C NEC programmable interval timer
1 TC5517 Toshiba 2K RAM (your unit may come with a MSM5128 - they work the same)
2 transistors 2SA564
2 transistors 2SC536
1 zener diode 5.2V (WZ-052)
1 diode 1S2473
1 diode 1S1555 (to adapt the new lithium battery)
1 CR2032 lithium battery with soldering tags
2 resistor network 3,3KΩ x 8
2 2,2KΩ 1/4W resistor
7 3,3KΩ 1/4W resistor
6 electrolytic capacitors 10µF 16V
3 electrolytic capacitors 0.22µF 16V
1 electrolytic capacitor 47µF 16V
1 electrolytic capacitor 100µF 25V
all the integrated circuits come with a good quality machined DIL socket.

All the components are tested prior to shipping including the ESR of the capacitors."

RF Nomad Demo [Episode 182]

Published on Sep 17, 2019 CatSynth TV

"We explore the RF Nomad module from Evaton Technologies. The RF Nomad generates sound from shortwave radio input. There is no filtering or locking on the incoming shortwave radio signal, so there is a lot of noise, heterodynes and other elements along with the occasional actual station. The real fun comes when you use the CV in to modulate the tuning, even at audio rate.

For more information, please visit

0:15 Basic Operation
1:37 Modulating the CV input for tuning from an E350 Morphing Terrarium oscillator
2:22 Running the output of the modulated EF Nomad through the Strymon Magneto tape delay for noise eerie effects

"The RF Nomad adds the squealy, squelchy, noisy, unpredictable vintage sounds of shortwave radio to your modular. But this is no ordinary shortwave; it's been designed to be extra noisy, extra squealy, extra gritty, and just downright nasty. No built-in output filtering means that a rich spectrum of harmonic content is available on the audio output jack. Audio levels can be driven to distortion. CV control lets you add your own creative spin on sound design."

Moog Introduces New Model 10 Synthesizer

Making a Moog Synthesizer Published on Sep 17, 2019 Moog Music Inc

"At the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina, every Moog modular synthesizer is hand-built to its original factory specifications. Individual modules are brought to life just as they were nearly 50 years ago: by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Each module is then hand-tested, finished with an aluminum panel, and placed into a custom tolex cabinet before the synthesizer leaves for its new home. "The Moog Model 10 Synthesizer returns to production at the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC – making this iconic analog synthesizer available again to artists after nearly 50 years. Every Model 10 is hand-built to its original 1971 specifications and is a true recreation of the original. Individual modules are brought to life just as they were nearly 50 years ago: by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Each module is then hand-tested and placed into a custom tolex cabinet before the synthesizer leaves for its new home.

Watch Making a Moog Synthesizer [above] and step inside the Moog Factory to see how Moog synthesizers are built with love and care by the employee-owners at Moog Music.

The Model 10 is faithful in every way to its 1971 counterpart (the first compact modular synthesizer model created by Dr. Robert Moog) – all the way down to its hand-soldered electronic circuits. The Model 10 is comprised of 11 discrete analog modules, including the 907 Fixed Filter Bank, revered for its vast sound shaping and timbral possibilities, and three 900-Series oscillators, the foundational sound behind Wendy Carlos’ Switched-On Bach and Isao Tomita’s Snowflakes Are Dancing.

The predecessor to the Model 15, the Model 10 design focuses on purity of sound, speed, and simplicity while providing the enormous sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer."

Start and stop playback and recording via the dedicated transport buttons, operate the mixer’s Mute, Solo, Volume, Pan and Send controls, and take instant control of Device Macros with eight rotary encoders – connect more deeply with your music, navigating and mixing your projects in a more tactile way than the mouse and keyboard can hope to match.
