Interesting piece. I don't think I've seen this one before. Note the top right has "For Steinberg MicroWave" written on it.

Update via swissdoc: "I got mine fresh from the shop, there was only a preliminary manual included. Just typwriter style or dot matrix print. I had to send in a voucher and then got the final manual later sent. They look like the ones I once created from the old Atari sources Waldorf gave me: [see here]

I think in your picture that is just a tradeshow flyer on top.

"This unit works and has all of the original factory presets loaded! It is so much fun to play and tweak sounds to taste, thus creating totally different sounds! Soaring leads, smooth pads and even atmospheric "movie soundtrack" sounds are just the beginning of the Prophet 5 synthesizer! I love preset #32, the iconic synth preset that the The Cars used in the '80s! Please understand that although every key on the 61-note keyboard works, that only four out of the five voices can sound at one time. Once you replace the fifth voice chip, you will probably want to re-calibrate, as all analog synths of this age are recommended to be re-calibrated every few years or so."

"This is the second song with the SQ-R Plus/32. It's a 32 voice 8-part multitimbral synthesizer. It features 9 Transwaves, Ensoniq's kind of wave tables.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
SQ-R Plus/32 - Digitech Obscura - Alesis Ampliton - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

"Like many other people, I'm using lock-in time to explore things I've overlooked before. In my case, its Patterning 2. I don't know why I've passed it by until now but I feel a bit stupid about that because its wonderful. Particularly when paired with the Nord Drum 2

Here, as well as providing a really nice shifting pulse, its clocking everything else in the rack. The Nord Drum pattern is being dirtied up by a Plague Bearer (topical). There's also a Drone Commander and QMMG providing bass pulses and an E 350 giving a clocked top line. Plus some joystick driven interruptions just because."

"A great synth in mint condition. There is a tiny dimple in the bottom center of the front of the box, but it came that way from the factory. A very smartly laid out synth, that sounds great. Comes with OM power supply and rack ears.

The Future Retro XS is a true analog synthesizer with a modern, aggressive sound. Its compact form can be configured as a desktop or rack-mount module - whichever the user wants. The XS is monophonic with semi-modular characteristics. It has 46 controls on its surface, 43 of which are knobs for full knob-tweaking bliss. It has pre-wired internal signal routings similar to traditional synthesizers. However, there are 7 inputs and 11 outputs that can be utilized to override the pre-wired signal routings and interface with other instruments - even process external audio - making the XS a true semi-modular instrument."
