In 1985, Korg’s DW-8000 combined digital wavetables with rich analog filters to give users sounds which were impossible to create with analog oscillators. It’s still a cult favorite today.

The modwave, released in 2021, builds on the DW legacy and transforms it into a modern monster synth, featuring incredibly deep wavetable oscillators, gorgeous filters, wildly flexible modulation, sophisticated pattern sequencing, and macro controls to deliver unique, powerful, and easily customizable sounds and phrases.

Now, Korg is pleased to announce modwave native, the fully-compatible software counterpart to the hardware modwave synthesizer. modwave native is available in VST3, AAX, and standalone formats on both macOS and Windows, as well as AU on macOS. You can seamlessly exchange sounds between hardware and software. Produce in your DAW with modwave native, and then play the same sounds on stage using the modwave hardware. Create sounds with the hardware’s hands-on interface, and then share them with a computer-based collaborator. Plus, you can use any of the many third-party sound libraries available for the hardware modwave, as well as sample libraries designed for either the modwave or wavestate.

Tip #1 You have to quickly tap the key or else it will hold out the note for too long.

Modular synth systems are complex musical instruments, and parameter control is usually through buttons, knobs and sliders. "Korg PS-3100 vintage polyphonic analog synthesizer demo. During a visit to the Vintage Synth Museum in LA, I had a chance to try the Korg PS-3100 analog synth. In this demo I briefly noodle and tweak some parameters to show some Korg PS-3100 sounds.

The Korg PS-3100 was released in 1977 and has 48-voices of polyphony via 12 divide-down oscillators. The Korg PS-3100 has 2 LFOs, Resonator, multiple envelopes, Ensemble effect, patchbay, 3-band EQ, 12 scaling controls for intonation control, 48 keys and CV/Gate connections.

The Korg PS-3100 is very rare as apparently only 600 were manufactured. It's successors the Korg PS-3200 and PS-3300 had even more capabilities. The sound is very rich and warm, and is excellent for nice brassy tones. Hope you enjoy the demo."

"An improvisation with the Sequential Prophet 10. Everything is coming out of a single preset, by editing the sound in real time, with no pause while recording. No splits or bitimbral presets were used.

Sorry, there is no video of the recording. I was just playing and recording for fun. After 10-15 minutes I thought the recording could be worth listening, so I kept playing and forgot to lunch. :-)

There are some pops, clics and abrupt sound changes. That’s live recording! Also, no sustain pedal was connected. Consequently I couldn’t reach all the notes and edit the sound at the same time as desired. That’s the beauty of live recording!

The out of the Prophet 10 is strictly monophonic, but delay and reverb were added in the DAW in order to get some stereo movement."

"This is the legendary Roland Jupiter 4 built in 1979. The first true polyphonic synth that Roland built. It came out around the same time as the Sequential Circuits prophet 5 in the late 70's and was cutting edge at the time. Super collectible with beautiful robust design and will beat any digital emulations or copycat keyboards. It still has the plastic seal on some of tags and is in pretty decent cosmetic condition considering it's age.

This is the earlier version with the well known BA662 filter."
