"The Moog Source is a monophonic Z80 microprocessor-controlled analog synthesizer manufactured from 1981 to 1985. Serial number: 2840

The Source was Moog's first synthesizer to offer patch memory storage. The design was also the first (and only) Moog synthesizer to feature a flat-panel membrane keyboard to replace the standard buttons, knobs and sliders, along with multihued panel graphics that were very different from anything Moog offered at the time.

Arguably the closest sounding to the Minimoog than any other Moog from this era. All functions tested in great working order, membrane buttons operate as expected with smooth operation.

Service notes:

-Refurbished power supply: replaced PS caps

-Resoldered rectifiers and sockets for t0-220 package voltage regulators

-Resoldered and cleaned connectors/pin headers.

-Replaced all other remaining electrolytic capacitors

-Replaced (2) connectors pcb and cable side

-Resoldered and cleaned all connectors/pin headers

-Cleaned keybed assembly and key contacts

-Removed and cleaned IC pins on 74373 logic ICs

-Cleaned all calibration trim pots

-Replaced memory battery

-Re-programmed all original factory presets

-Fully calibrated entire synth

-Burn in for 6 hours then checked/adjusted calibration as needed

-Cleaned volume control and bend/modulation assembly parts"

Terry Riley's In the Summer (Buchla Music Easel)

video upload by Electrum Modular

"I’ve been reading Trevor Pinch and Frank Trocco’s excellent book, Analog Days. Apparently, when Don Buchla unveiled his prototype Buchla Box at the San Francisco Tape Music Center in 1965, the most enthusiastic witness was Terry Riley, the pioneer of minimalist music. 'I think I’ll do some music on that,' Riley said.

Sadly, there’s no recording or other evidence of Riley playing the Buchla (at least that I can find). But given that they crossed paths at the Tape Music Center, I thought it would be appropriate to use the Buchla Music Easel to do a cover of one of my favorite Riley pieces: “In the Summer” (1974).

Composed for the soundtrack of art-house film, Lifespan, this piece was reissued in 2007 on the CD, 'Les Yeux Fermés & Lifespan.'

Basimilus Iteritas Alia universal drum synthesizer from Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Basimilus Iteritas Alia is a reimagining of the classic with a fresh interface on the Alia oscillator platform. The BIA begins shipping Thursday, October 26, 2023: https://bit.ly/3rPRryZ

0:00 Overview
1:20 Panel and Controls
4:44 Patch: Simple Kick
5:03 Patch: Snare Drum
5:19 Patch: Bass Lines
5:35 Patch: Harmonic Leads
5:49 Patch: Drum Kit
6:11 Alia platform

The BIA is a parameterized digital drum voice with its roots in the analog world. At its heart, the BIA is a simple six-oscillator additive and FM synthesizer with waveform, harmonic spread, and envelope controls. An adjustable noise oscillator and an extreme take on a wavefolder round out its synthesis abilities. Its straightforward controls make sound design fun and performable: create sub-shaking kicks, snares, hats, and unique drum hits with just a few tweaks.

• A go-to for percussion synthesis
• Also excellent at leads and basses
• Additive/FM digital synth with root and inspiration in the analog world.
• CV over every parameter
• Dedicated envelope output
• Encoder tuning

Basimilus Iteritas Alia is the successor to the original Basimilus Iteritas Alter. It was developed to sound nearly identical, with added features and new firmware-swapping capabilities."

PRIBOR 32 by Vladimir Kabanov / sound and video by GIPNOZER

video upload by G I P N O Z E R

"The PRIBOR 32 @priborpedals is a very rare and small-circulation synthesizer. It was created by engineer Vladimir Kabanov. The project was launched about three years ago and then about 10 synthesizers were created.

Then the project was stopped for about a year or two. But at the numerous requests of those who wished, including me, pre-order and production of about ten more devices were opened again. Engineer Kabanov improved and reworked the synth and so his second version appeared. On these joys, I created this video for engineer Kabanov when I received my PRIBOR 32. Thank you for responding and doing this!!!"

MEET THE NEW OCHD EXPANDER. A 24 OUTPUT MODULATION PAIRING IN ONLY 8HP, NUTS!

video upload by DivKid

"The new ochd expander adds 16 outputs to ochd with 4 sections of different functions. We have unipolar outputs from full wave rectifiers, analogue diode logic giving 2 pairs of MAX/MIN outs, a cascading mixing trigger section for stochastic timings and a 4-bit DAC ladder section offering 4 flavours of slow noise stepped random patterns. It really is a mammoth addition of functions not just to ochd but to any Eurorack system.

The ochd expander was released as part of ØCHD-OBER-FEST an in-person event that was also live streamed. If you’d like to watch the event check that out here"

ØCHD-OBER-FEST (live event) with DivKid, Instruo & Signal Sounds // celebrate all things ochd!

video upload by DivKid

See the dealers on the right for availability.

"Launched in 2019 and designed in collaboration with Ben "DivKid" Wilson, the Instruō øchd has set a standard for compact and versatile modulation sources which can now be seen across thousands of eurorack systems.

The øchd's 8 analogue outputs can now be be tripled with a farther 16 unique control voltage sources by pairing it with the øchd expander ([ø] 4^2).

All outputs are derived from combinations of the 8 analogue triangle LFO cores to produce an extravagant range of variable voltages, triggers and 4x 4-Bit DAC based stepped random voltage sources which are best described as flavours of "slow noise".

Enhance your existing modulation capabilities immediately with this 4HP cluster of control voltage capabilities.

Note: øchd required, all cables included with expander"

What is Salome?

video upload by Bram Bos

"A quick look at Salome:
- what does it do?
- how to use it?

Salome is a sampling gadget for quickly capturing (or importing) any snippet of sound, creating seamless loops out of it, and playing it polyphonically using MPE, MIDI or the onscreen controls.

I made Salome, because I needed something that would allow me to easily create seamlessly looping soundscapes, without the need to use sound editing applications. Salome allows you to do all of this within your host/DAW, in mere seconds.

The onscreen play-controls provide basic (but expressive) tools for performing soundscapes and ambient pieces. Obviously, you can also use any other MPE/MIDI controller - hardware or software to play Salome.

Plugins for iOS and MacOS (ARM and Intel) are included, so you can move projects from your mobile device to your laptop, and vice-versa."

It's a 4-channel quantizer you can use to quantize signals according to the chords you have programmed on the Chord-Key itself. This will make sure that the sequences you have going in your patch will stay connected and related to the chord progression you're using, without having to deal with switches and all sorts of tricks to have things sound coherent."

Behringer Pro-800: 50 Arp Presets. Sound Demo. No Talking

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Arps Collection' is a soundset of 50 presets for Behringer Pro-800.
The patches cover a variety of Arp tones: mild and aggressive, deep and bright, soft and punchy, clean and noisy, modern and vintage.

Modwheel adds vibrato. You may use the arps with internal or external MIDI/USB clock. Play with division and swing parameters to change the arps' behavior.

The soundset is universal, the Arpeggios are suitable for all genres of electronic music, including Techno, House, Trance, Lounge, Downtempo, Funk, Disco, Pop, Acid, Hardcore, IDM, Drum'n'Bass, Breaks, Breakbeat, Trap, Electro, Ambient, Dubstep, EDM, Synth-Pop and others.

🎞 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/pro-...

Here is some technical information:

To load presets onto the device, please use the Synthtribe app, which is available on the official Behringer website.

The bank consists of 50 presets (00-49 slots are active, 50-99 are empty/init). You have the option to upload them all at once as a bank or load each preset individually, one by one.
Before loading new presets, I recommend backing up any slots on your synth that you are currently using.

Individual uploading is recommended if you already have presets stored in different banks (A, B, C, D). Uploading the entire bank will overwrite all existing presets in the selected bank. On the other hand, uploading presets individually offers more flexibility. You can save new presets without erasing the previous ones, and you can arrange them to suit your preferences.

Oxi One - the brain for your modular setup. What you need to know to get started

video upload by SynthDad

"The Oxi One is perfect for controlling your modular setup, but configuring it can be overwhelming at first. In this tutorial I show you how to use your Oxi One to control your modular synth; I’ll explain how the CV/gate mapping page works, how to send envelopes, how modulation using LFOs and automation lanes works, and how to set up a polyphonic patch using the Oxi One as the brain. Best of all we'll get to draw waveforms by hand on the grid to modulate our patches - cool!

This video builds on my previous one. (below) and if you've watched that you'll feel right at home here. Even if you're not an Oxi wizard just yet you'll find this video easy to understand as I've broken it down into themes:

1. Understanding the CV/gate mapping page
2. Creating a one-voice monophonic patch
3. Sending envelopes from Oxi One
4. Adding complex modulation to patches
5. Drum sequencing in modular
6. Polyphonic modules"

The Grainmakers Playlist

video uploads by Cinematic Laboratory

"This playlist features granular eurorack modules that all need to process the same reference sample. I hope this gives a good impression of what the modules can do for you. They're all different, they're all great."

Playlist:

1. Grainmakers Playlist Introduction
I've been working on a huge video over the last few days and when I reached 30 minutes I decided to break it up into a playlist. This is cool! I can make updates and add new modules as they emerge. It's not supposed to be the ultimate grain guide, but it's cool to hear all modules chew on the same sample and hear what comes out. It's easy to be impressed by a bad module with a great soundsource, or underwhelmed by an amazing module that need to process something unworthy of its grains. So it all comes down to what they have to offer. And there are no bad modules. It's great fun to hear how a standard concept can turn into completely different experiences. So this is just a short playlist introduction.
2. Mutable Instruments Beads | Grainmakers Playlist
In this episode, Beads needs to chew on a reference performance.
Beads is an effect, but it can process an internal wavetable synth on its own.
3. Qu-Bit Nebulae V2 | Grainmakers Playlist
Our next contender in the playlist is the Qu-Bit Nebulae. It may be a bit underappreciated, but wow. A unique feature is elastic audio for time stretching.
4. Qu-Bit Mojave | Grainmakers Playlist
Next, Mojave needs to chew on Sebastian Lexer's grand piano.
5. Loopers | Lubadh & Morphagene | Grainmakers Playlist
Loopers are often confused with granular synths, especially with the Morphagene. Loopers don't grain or spray, they're digital tape machines.
Sometimes, when you think you're into grains, you'd actually been looking for a looper. It's time to show the difference, so they're an important addition to the lineup.
6. 1010Music BitBox MK2 | Grainmakers Playlist
The BitBox may not seem an obvious choice for granular processing, but if this playlist were a competition, then BitBox MK2 would be the King of the Grainfields. Granular processing offers limited CV support in the current firmware, but the sheer processing power is almost an insult to the other modules. Fortunately, it can't offer the hands-on experience like dedicated modules.
7. Error Instruments x TINRS Brinta | Grainmakers Playlist

8. Melotus Versio | Grainmakers Playlist
It's a Versio. What can I say. Awkward, special, amazing and breathtaking. It's unique feature is no pitch control. While this sounds like a flaw, it's almost a musthave feature when you run notes, effects and chords through it. Don't touch the melody. Just make it grain. Top 3 module in my list. And if it doesn't fit your needs, install a different firmware! If you own a different Versio, give it a shot. Nothing creates techno atmospheres and backdrops like Melotus.
9. MISO Cornflakes | Grainmakers Playlist
This is the last one for today :). Still a few more modules to cover, but it's already a great list. Here's MISO Cornflakes chewing on the Lexer piano. Again, it's a totally different experience, because Cornflakes adds special harmonizing features and stacking of grains. No other module has it - as far as I know. It can make wonderful new sounds from something familiar.
10. Instruo Arbhar V2 | Grainmakers Playlist
I already made plenty of Arbhar videos, but this is the second V2 video. In this playlist, all granular modules in my collection need to process the same audio file so it's easy to figure out what they do. Now it's Arbhar's turn.
11. Clouds & Clones | Grainmaker Playlist
This playlist would not be complete without a tribute to Clouds, one of the first modules in Eurorack that brought grains to the case. Clouds was launched in 2015 and discontinued in 2017. But that wasn't the end of it. It's been revived and extended in many forms, making it one of the most successful modules in Eurorack even today. From a techical perspective, Clouds is no match for the modern grainmakers in this playlist. But from the perspective of production value it's still a super useful module, especially if you manage to install the Parasite firmware. It's easy to forget that granular synthesis doesn't need big buffers. Sometimes a small 1 sec buffer is exactly what you need to get that desirable classic granular stream.
12. Combinations | Grainmaker Playlist
I got a question if Lubadh and Mojave would make a good combo. I had no idea. I figured this whole playlist is still 1-dimensional. So I patched these two up and then and I just had to make this video! I am still using the reference track so you get a good idea of how big the sonic playground becomes when you combine any looper with any granular engine. Results may vary, but wow. The bottom of the Rabbit Hole simply has a doorway to the next one. And it always gets deeper than the one before.
13. ADDAC 112 | Grainmakers Playlist
I may have unintentionally kept the best for last. The 112 combines a looper and granular engine in one big module. This is the last entry in the playlist.
The 112 will return soon for a dedicated video with some carefully selected samples to play with.
14. I missed a few | Grainmakers Playlist
After finishing the 112 video I was confident I covered enough 'grainmakers' in this playlist. I doublechecked if Disting EX and Phonogene should be in it, but no. The third one definitely needs to be on it! It doesn't show up when you search for 'granular' on ModularGrid, but it immediately went to my personal top #2.
