"One Love means universal love and respect expressed for all people regardless of race, creed or color. One love is an expression of unity and inclusion.

Chillin' and Dubbin with the Polyend Tracker Mini and samples from my "Dub Spectrum" sound bank.

I've also loaded extra samples from the bank into a couple of Erica Synths Drum Sample modules so I could use my favorite Erica Synths filters on them live, and added the Erica Synths Perkons drum machine into the track as well. (Yes, I am an Erica Synths fanboy if you couldn't tell... Hahaha)

Introducing Incus Iteritas Alia and the return of Cursus and Ataraxic to the Alia platform

Update:

Incus Iteritas Alia FM-based wave-mangling additive voice from Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Incus Iteritas Alia is available now: https://bit.ly/4b0koJW

Incus Iteritas Alia smashes big and bold sounds into your patches. Incus started as a percussion voice, and was smelted into something even wilder: create kicks for any genre, snares, and metallic hits, or go melodic and create FM plucks, analog-style basslines, and so much more. Incus uses a combination of waveshaping, saturation, wavefolding, FM, and additive synthesis, plus a slew of internal modulation, all behind easy-to-use parameters perfect for jamming.

Both FM and additive synthesis can be quite complex, but Incus uses a simple set of controls to keep things straightforward."

Press release follows:

"Los Angeles, CA — Modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering, known for their innovative Eurorack modules, has announced three additions to their Alia oscillator platform: Ataraxic Iteritas Alia, Cursus Iteritas Alia, and Incus Iteritas Alia.

In 2023, Noise Engineering released the 10HP Alia platform, marking the return of their Iteritas oscillators. Alia launched with the famed Basimilus Iteritas firmware, along with Manis Iteritas and the new Debel Iteritas, but the team promised firmwares in the near future.

Now, Noise Engineering has delivered, doubling the number of firmwares available for Alia. Cursus Iteritas Alia and Ataraxic Iteritas Alia are revamped versions of the originals, promising to sound nearly identical to the originals with improved encoder tuning, a suboscillator output, and a performable Hold button. Incus Iteritas Alia is an all-new voice based around wavemorphing additive FM, designed for percussive and melodic sound design.

Since Alia is an oscillator platform, owners of existing Alias can try out all three of the new firmwares on their modules. Firmware is 100% free and swappable at any time from the Noise Engineering Customer Portal. With six firmwares now available for the platform, the Alia is an excellent choice for those who want an incredibly diverse yet compact sound source in their system. Swappable overlays for all firmwares are also available from the Noise Engineering webshop and retailers around the world.

The new Incus Iteritas Alia is an exciting addition to the lineup, utilizing Noise Engineering’s favorite synthesis tricks and techniques to create a new voice boasting a massive range of timbres. Sounds are created with a combination of additive, wavemorphing, and FM synthesis, with three different algorithms all controlled by an internal dynamics envelope. Users familiar with the Basimilus will find that Incus has a similar workflow, and while it can synthesize the best parts of a drum kit, it’s also well-suited to bass and melodic duties.

As usual for their platforms, all of the new firmwares are available as paneled modules, so customers can choose the panel they prefer. Ataraxic Iteritas Alia, Cursus Iteritas Alia, and Incus Iteritas Alia are available now at https://noiseengineering.us and at retailers globally.

Availability and pricing:
Ataraxic Iteritas Alia, Cursus Iteritas Alia, and Incus Iteritas Alia: In stock in black and silver.
Shipping from Noise Engineering and retailers starting January 18th, 2024; MSRP US$385" [check with the dealers on the right for availability]

"Had it serviced earlier this year, my excellent tech replaced the battery with a housing that allows for future battery changes without soldering and did some major cleanup, recapping and pot replacements where they was needed. All in all he did about $2000 in repairs. No midi but will include Doepfer din/sync box and cables. Works absolutely beautifully, and in unconfirmed rumors I was told by the person I bought it from in 2012 that it once belonged to John Taylor. Has patch expansion built into it and all original presets in bank b."

just a beautiful tone meeews broad rich sweeping textures .. instant cinematic soundscape.. paired with an MPE controller its just hair raising and dramatic..

there is a small scratch on top of both of these from installing into rack (shown in pics just full disclosure)

TINRS Synton Fenix IV Modular Synth

"The unit sounds amazing and has extraordinary capabilities to match. There are some small cosmetic blemishes above the low pass gate, filter, and noise module sections (can't always be seen except in certain light) as well as the barrel edge of the headphone jack, so I took extra close ups of these areas for your inspection. These are cosmetic only, functionality is 100%! The unit comes with the optional bamboo stands, double count pack of TiNRS custom cables, soft carry case, pin, cable ties, power supply, manual, and 19" rack rails.

A couple features that stood out to me on this unit, besides its pleasing warm sound, are the digital system behind the scenes that allow for highly programmable midi to CV conversion for associated jacks as well as system synchronized triggering, at divisions or multiplications of the system clock, including customizable time signatures for easy made polyrhythms. Also, behind the scenes, there are 3 separate quantizers - one for the digital osc, one for digital filter, and one for the sequencer. And they're as easy to use as just selecting which keys in an octave you want enabled individually for each one. This really allows one to use its extensive modulation capabilities to affect those modules in ways the user can shape to be very melodically pleasing, if desired. And speaking of modulation, the wobbler lfo has many exotic shapes and behaviors, and offers two outputs of itself, one of which has cv controllable phase shift from the other. And finally, the triple lfo was also a favorite due to having two phase cv able copies of itself for shifting synced modulations."

Paia Custom Analog Synthesizer 1972

via this auction

"Here we have a one of a kind custom PAiA built into an old suitcase built By Steve Alcorn the vice president of engineering at Linn, the synth is an expanded 2700. It inludes original 1/4" patch cables, suitcase has a key and there is another key to power the synth on. Comes with every pamphlet for each module used. Steve also signed the outside of the suitcase.

Steve pre-wired it up like an Arp Odyssey It is still completely custom-patchable as well. Modules include:

Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (3)

Voltage-Controlled Amplifier (2)

Voltage-Controlled Bandpass Filter

Voltage Controlled Low Pass Filter

Envelope Generator

Control Oscillator / Noise Choice

Power Supply

Glide Retro Fit

Envelope Follower / Trigger

Sine Converter / Pulse Width Modulator

Balanced Modulator

Envelope Generator

In addition, all the original manuals are included for the above modules, plus a few other of PAIA's products.

The unit is designed to be easily ported to gigs, where in a few seconds the keyboard can be lifted out of the case cover and the case cover detached, giving you a Moog-like setup. It was a fun performance instrument. I remember generating the crashing waves for Riders on the Storm during a gig in 1973!

This unit has not been powered since the late 70s. Prudence would suggest a thorough inspection of all the electrolytic capacitors, for starters. But this would be a dream project for an electronics tinkerer, and gives you a very large collection of very rare PAIA circuits as your starting place."

"Combining unusual suspects today, the #syntakt and the #lightpadblock loaded with the lovely #pentagome script. With the help of a little midi app called #polythemus running on a nearby iPad, i‘m distributing all incoming notes from the lightpadblock over the first 8 channels of the Syntakt in a round robin fashion. Also added an additional #mozaicscript for all passing notes adding random velocity and mapped a few parameters on the Syntakt to be velocity dependent."

TwinVCFilter Pinging Performance

video upload by vermonagear

"In this patch, we're using twinVCFilter as the sole sound source to demonstrate its versatility and sonic richness. FourMative CONTOURS is used as the pinging source for both filter sections. The envelope itself is triggered by randomRHYTHM.
One of the filter sections is sequenced by the 1V/OCT out of meloDICER.
All CUTOFF frequencies and the MIX function of twinVCFilter are modulated internally and by a fourMULATOR and a uniCYCLE."

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers.

The Wave Transformer // EarthQuaker's Boldest Device Yet ( & it isn't even a pedal)

video upload by Jorb

"I love a lot about this module.

Its a rock solid oscillator, which yes there are a ton of them, but this needs to be if its gonna compete. And the waveshaping from the transform circuit gives it enough of its own character to stand out.

I think its priced competitively, it does all the things other up-market "standard" oscillators do (built-in attenuators for modulation, hard and soft sync, built in sub) and it has so much of its own character.

If there's any downside, its kind of a lot of HP? But not really when you consider the sum of its parts. On all fronts, we got a banger.

Complex Morphing VCO, Subs, FM & more // The Wave Transformer by Earthquaker Devices (Eurorack Demo)
video upload by DivKid

"Well this was a surprise! Earthquaker Devices (makers of fine pedal FX) making a Eurorack oscillator. Yes they made the Afterneath module, but as that was a modular version of a pedal I didn't expect they come guns glazing with a big, bold VCO!

I first saw The Wave Transformer by Earthquaker Devices at Knobcon, where they brought it along for an early look and sat playing with it at the show I knew they were onto something that sounded great. Well now it's released here we are with a demo.

The Wave Transformer is a 20HP Eurorack oscillator, it's analog, with onboard complex, transforming wave shaping, sub generators with unique shapes, FM, sync, LOTS of precise tuning control and options to wave shape external sources, saturate audio and track subs from your other oscillators. I've had lots of fun with this one!"

"The Wave Transformer
Eurorack Transfiguration Oscillator
$199.00

The Wave Transformer is an analog, vintage-voiced, voltage-controlled oscillator with over 8 octaves of accurate pitch tracking. It has 7 simultaneous wave outputs, including a unique Complex output.

The Transform control morphs from a basic waveform through many strange iterations into a complex, gnarled mass of audio mutations at the Complex output. You can yield countless variations on these permutations by combining this novel circuit with Hard Sync, Soft Sync, Linear FM and Exponential FM. Additionally, you can mute the source waveform to use the circuit as a harmonic gate/VCA, rendering The Wave Transformer a voice unto itself. If that is not enough, there is a Shape Insert that allows you to transform external oscillations and modular-level audio sources."

"Following our ADDC503 Marble Physics here is a new simulation of a physical system. This time imagine a small area in the middle of the ocean, in this area we place 4 equally spaced buoys anchored to the bottom in such a system that we can control the spacing between the buoys. Imagine we can control the elements and agitate the waters at will which in turn will make the buoys move up and down as the water surface moves.

Finally imagine the buoys would wirelessly transmit their absolute height directly to your module outputs where they would be mapped to a voltage signal.

We use a Gerstner Wave as the motor behind the two-dimensional wave generation. In fluid dynamics a Gerstner Wave is described as “a progressive wave of permanent form on the surface of an incompressible fluid of infinite depth”. Gerstner waves are often used in computer graphics to simulate any type of water surface, if you’ve seen any animation film or computer game with water surfaces in it most probably it features a Gerstner wave generating it."

"Non proprio la prima volta per @VerbosElectronicsGmbH al @SOUNDMIT, infatti li abbiamo ospitati durante la prima delle due edizioni virtuali in periodo pandemia (vi metto il link nel video) ma prima volta presenti fisicamente a Torino per presentare il nuovo modulo 'Real World Interface' che permette il collegamento con strumenti e sorgenti sonore esistenti fuori dal nostro sistema Eurorack.

Not exactly the first time for @VerbosElectronicsGmbH at @SOUNDMIT. In fact, we hosted them during the first of the two virtual editions during the pandemic period (I'll include the link in the video), but it's their first time physically present in Turin to introduce the new 'Real World Interface' module that allows connection with existing instruments and sound sources outside our Eurorack system.

Analogue Solutions Maximus Polysynth | Bass Chords Split Patch Demo

video upload by Analogue Solutions

"Here's an example of a split bass and chord patch on the Maximus polysynth. We say "split", when in fact, this is voice assignment and programming as follows:

Maximus is utilising the onboard sequencers in voices 1 & 2 to modulate and step the filter on the lower, resonant bass sound (left hand).

As all of the synth voices are independent, sequencer settings per voice can be set similarly, or, vastly different from one another depending on your desired direction.

Voices 3-6 handle the voices of the live chords (right hand). Each voice is set similarly (but not exactly!) to one another.

Additionally, each voice can be its own instrument, percussion, lead, or whatever your imagination holds."

KingKORG NEO Review // Retro character returns in a new compact form

video upload by loopop

See the announcemeent post here.

"The scopes I use aren't real - I use MOscilloscope and MAnalyzer by a company called Melda - they’re free with some limitations in the MFreeFXBundle.

A summary of differences between the original KingKORG and KingKORG NEO (KKN):
► The synth engine is pretty much the same. On the oscillator side, the VA and DWGS oscs are the same. Many of the PCM (sample) sounds are new and there are about 10 more of them. Filters and FX are the same, as are the mod options.
► KKN doesn't have the analog tube circuit at the end of the signal chain
► KKN is white!
► 3 Octaves instead of 5
► Bundled XLR Mic? I don't know if the OG came with one - please let me know if so.
► New presets on the KKN
► XLR on the panel instead of on the back
► Headphone output on the panel instead of up front.
► Compact form factor and button arrangement on KKN
