April 30th 2025 Patch Variation #2

video upload by John L Rice

"Just exploring the patch as one tends to do. Here I’m using a second Moon Modular 569 sequencer to control the first one instead of the sequential switch I used in the previous video [posted here]. The result was simpler but still interesting to me. I also changed up the synth voice a bit, using a MegaOhm LPG instead of the SSL tube VCA and processing its output with an Oakley/Krisp1 Flanger."

4/27-30/25 (16th, 145) Metasonix D-2000 + Roland 100m SPH-323 TR606 + EML 400/401 + (in description)

video upload by Cfpp0

"4/27-30/25 (16ths, 145 bpm) Metasonix D-2000 + RYK 185 + Roland System 100m & SPH-323 & TR-606 + ElectroComp EML 400/401 & EML 200 + DSP 808 + 2hp Comp + Soundforce S-LD + Peavey 1300 + Alesis MIDIVERB II + Paia 6740

The pumping drone that sounds like a harmonium is the ElectroComp EML 200 through a 2hp Comp module, with reversed reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II and spring reverb from the Paia 6740. The bass pulse is the Metasonix D-2000, triggered by the MFB SEQ-1. The 16th note synth panned center is the Roland System 100m, sequenced by the RYK 185, through the Roland SPH-323 through the Peavey 1300. The 16th note synth line panned left is the EML 400/401. The percussion is the DSP 808 and the Soundforce S-LD, triggered by MFB SEQ-1 and ALM Pamela’s New Workout, which clocks everything."

Using Moon Modular Sequential Divider Switches To Control Sequencer Step Position

video upload by John L Rice

"I’ve long loved the Moon Modular 564 Sequential Switch (directly inspired by the PPG 313) and love the Moon 569 sequencer as well, but I’ve often wished that the 569 somehow had an additional row of switches that could be used to set how many clock pulses a step would stay on each position like the 564 does. This is my attempt to use two 564 switches with the 569 to make it happen, with some limitations. Of course using an external voltage controlled clock to drive the sequencer with one of the sequencer rows controlling the clock can achieve similar results, but that sort of patch isn’t as predictably playable."

"A 3-cabinet authentic, period correct all RA Moog modules system that dates from 1968.

This instrument forms a part of the RL Music Vintage Synthesizer Collection. We have managed to keep some of the very best examples of Vintage Synthesizers that have come through our business over the last 22 years which we kept for our pleasure and interest. Whilst having a privileged position as a specialist dealer in this genre of equipment, we managed to hang on to particular instruments that were interesting and inspiring. The RA Moog Modular IIIC is one of 40 instruments we have, but is the oldest and most historically important.

via this Reverb listing

"Anyware Instruments Tinysizer — serial number #5, one of the earliest examples of this legendary desktop modular system.

Hand-built in Germany and long discontinued, the Tinysizer was designed to pack a full modular experience into a compact, self-contained format, featuring fully patchable Oberheim-style VCOs, state-variable filters, a host of CV modulation options, and internal DSP reverb/delay.

This particular unit functions perfectly and sounds absolutely massive — rich analog tone with all the flexibility of a true modular system."

Edit. I forgot to mention that Buchla audio levels are line levels, they don't need to be attenuated to be used with external gears like eurorack. Moreover the CV doesn't use the same standards by default, Buchla uses 1.2 V/Oct tracking and 10V Gates.

SERGE INORI // Saigon 1975

video upload by Dexba

"50 years since the end of the war that showed the world how foolish wars are.

It's not a regional thing, it's not a sporadic thing: it's the core nature of war, that, finally, people were able to see towards the end of the Vietnam War.

When the plot gets so lost nobody even knows where they are going, who they are really fighting, what and why they are fighting, the blind brutality of the conflict becomes finally clear: the war for the war's sake.

This piece is an expressionist recording of the overstimulating nature of an armed conflict – there are helicopters, indistinctly passing by and falling, monkeys (who maybe were once humans?) screaming from the jungle, there is warfare, and it's relentless.

A quick note on the instrument: without my SERGE system, I would have never recorded this piece. It's hard to state if it came first the egg of wanting to record this genre of music or the chicken of my 4U modular, but the only unequivocal is that, to me, Serge means first and foremost an artistic legacy, and without even naming names, I always felt the pressure to make my time spent with the instrument worth a bit more than the quick enjoyment of some electronic strumming.

The freedom of the highest latitude of exploration possible with a SERGE instrument is what made it possible, having the confidence that my creativity, and my skills, were the only limiting factors in the equation, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do this and share it with all of you."

ULT-SOUND Introduces DS-4M ProMuzer

Short Demo: Polyphonic Mode video upload by Freaky Tweaky

"I tried out the ULT-SOUND DS-4M ProMuzer, which is scheduled to be released in June.

The newly added Polyphonic Mode assigns voices using the round robin method, just like a typical polysynth, so by varying the settings of each OSC appropriately, you can enjoy kaleidoscope-like changes even with simple phrases. ✨ (Granular, Reverse, and Reverb are added in the DAW as post-effects)"

Check in with dealers on the right for upcoming availability. Note this is the ProMuzer version. A few non ProMuzer versions have shown up on Reverb in previous posts here.

"Introducing the Ult-Sound DS-4M ProMuzer, a modern reissue of Toyo Gakki's DS-4 analog drum synthesizer, available in a limited edition of only 50 units. This exclusive release features a sleek new design with a custom white front panel and black lettering, blending vintage charm with modern aesthetics. The DS-4M ProMuzer faithfully reproduces the second iteration of the ULT-SOUND DS-4 - while incorporating innovative upgrades to meet contemporary music production needs.

Some features of the original DS-4 have been retained in this reissue, and we highlight them here for those unfamiliar with the original design:

Introducing the limited edition Infinite Digits Pikocore XL DIY kit by Erica Synths.

video upload by Erica Synths

"The Pikocore is a lo-fi music mangler based on the Raspberry Pi, developed by Zack Scholl. The original DIY kit comes in a miniature pocket calculator formfactor, but we at Erica Synths wanted to make it more playable, so we reached out to Zack and developed Pikocore XL version that has identical functionality, but comes in Erica Synths signature hands on user interface and proper aluminum enclosure. Infinite Digits Pikocore XL by Erica Synths is a full DIY kit that includes all components to build an instrument and put in in action straight away."

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.

My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."
