1980 Yamaha SY-22 "Vector Synthesis" Ad
via Retro Synth Ads, where you'll find the full write-up.
"Yamaha SY-22 "Vector Synthesis" advertisement from page 39 in the September 1990 issue of Keyboard Magazine.
In a crowded world of 90s synths, the SY-22 vector synthesizer dared to be different. With FM, sample playback and joy-stick driven sound design, its still loved by a small group of fanatics. I've never owned one... and I still consider myself one of those fanatics."

The age of sadness | Sequential Prophet VS and Rhodes Piano somber improvisation w Fractal Audio FM3
video upload by MIDERA
"In the distance I saw the clouds, and with them a rainbow. It appeared so tranquil, so peaceful. And then it was gone. Just like that. Just like us.
Fractal Audio FM3 was used to loop the Prophet VS. I played on top of that with the Rhodes Piano.
No external FX used."
PlayFader PlayMates - Intellijel Atlantix, Roland Aira S-1, Algoriddim DJAY Pro, Ableton Live & Link
video upload by Play All Day
"PlayFader is made in Cyprus and I’ve just relocated back to Cyprus permanently after 30 years away. I really miss the place and I’m so happy to be home.
At the same time as arriving, the amazing @caroline_myvolts introduced me to Dim, head honcho at @synthesizergr and he wanted to stock PlayFader. This means so much to me, to have a Cypriot-made electronic music device being sold in Athens, Greece ๐จ๐พ❤️๐ฌ๐ท
So… PlayFader is now available in @synthesizergr
I wanted to do something special to celebrate this ๐ซ
I wanted to make a full length performance for Dim and celebrate the best of modern Greek dj’s and producers while showcasing PlayFader as the expressive and creative instrument that it is. Especially in one of my favourite contexts, as a live sequencer that you can use to perform while dj’ing. I’m after all more of a dj than a producer. And this is my happy place where I absolutely fucking love to use PlayFader ๐
Dim pointed me in the direction of @echonomist_music and I instantly found this track that I fell in love with. It’s about homecoming and joy… ๐
What you see in this video is only the 2nd take, totally improvising over the entirety of the track “Happiest of all memorial days”.
It would have been the 1st take but I forgot to plug the audio into the camera ๐
There are some slightly less perfect moments, but I was absolutely in my flow state and enjoyed every second of playing!
And that’s the point I wanted show. PlayFader is a live performance instrument and a wise genius synth-builder once said “instruments reward practice and perseverance”. (Vlad from Soma thank you ๐)
Me and Jason designed PlayFader to give users lots of support and freedom - stay tightly locked into the groove and wander far away from it at any time, always with the option to come back to where you were.
There’s lots going on in this, too much to explain in detail here. It’s 7 minutes long and uses lots of features like the dual buffers, live switching, Latch play, Fun fx, ratchets etc etc.
Left channel is playing @rolandsynthandaira S-1. Right channel is playing the @intellijel Atlantix. I’m using @algoriddimofficial djay Linked to @ableton ๐
Enjoy ❤️"

Mylar Melodies Performs Live on Moog's Messenger | Superbooth 2025
video upload by Moog Music
"Watch @mylarmelodies bring Messenger to life with a fully stacked Moog semi-modular ecosystem in this live improvisation captured at this year's Superbooth show in Berlin.
Blending expressive analog tones with modular precision, this set highlights Messenger’s dynamic ability to draw out deep and delicate textures from DFAM, Mother-32, Subharmonicon, and Labyrinth. From evolving sequences to sweeping filter movements and modulations, the performance showcases the instrument’s potential for both nuance and power."
Exploring Torso S-4 #techno
video upload by Yan Cook
"After just a week with the sampler, here are my first impressions:
The Torso S-4 is a powerful instrument with a lot of potential. It feels like a serious piece of gear—comparable to Elektron boxes. The performative aspect really blew me away; the Perform page combined with the Temp button is pure magic. I love it.
So far I've experienced a few bugs, but nothing too disruptive—the instrument is perfectly usable. I hope the @torsoelectronics team continues to update the S-4 regularly and adds new devices."

Pics of the inside below.
"This unit was originally owned by Skyline Studios, New York, NY and featured on dozens of records during the 80's and 90's.
Included is the original owners manual, original DATA Cassette tape, a copy of the cassette on CD, the Forat MIDI manual, and brand new wood end cheeks should you choose to install them for a beautiful Rosewood look (like the Yamaha DX1 Rosewood).
The LinnDrum is a digital drum machine designed by Roger Linn in the early 1980s, known for its realistic sampled drum sounds and its impact on 1980's pop music. It was a successor to the Linn LM-1, and was one of the first drum machines to use samples of real acoustic drums, rather than synthesized sounds.
Design and Functionality: The LinnDrum was designed to be a more affordable and widely available alternative to the LM-1. It featured a library of 8-bit digital samples of real drum sounds and allowed musicians to create and store their own drum patterns.
Key Features:
Sample-based sound generation: Unlike earlier drum machines that used synthesized sounds, the LinnDrum utilized samples of real acoustic drums, creating a more realistic and natural drum sound.
Sound sample changeability: The LinnDrum uses samples of real acoustic drums stored on eprom chips, these eprom chips are replaceable inside the unit giving the user the ability to buy or even make thier own and install thier own sounds/samples in the unit. Many are widely available on Reverb and elsewhere plus there are also people offering their services to custom make them for you.
Programmability: Musicians could program their own rhythms and sequences, rather than relying on pre-set patterns.
Individual outputs: Each drum sound could be routed to a separate output for further processing and mixing.
MIDI integration: Later versions and modifications of the LinnDrum included MIDI capabilities, allowing for greater control and integration with other instruments and recording equipment.
Impact on Music: The LinnDrum became a staple in 1980s pop music, appearing on countless hit records. Its realistic drum sounds and programmable features revolutionized the way music was produced and played. It's considered a landmark instrument in the history of electronic music and drum machines.
Successor to the LM-1: While the LinnDrum is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the LM-2, it was actually the successor to the Linn LM-1. The LM-1 was the first drum machine to use sampled sounds, but the LinnDrum was a more refined and better version."
