New Behringer Synth to be Announced Tomorrow?

Update: first teaser videos here.

This one in via Soviet Space Child

"Breaking News.
It’s analog - not digital. It’s discrete - not modeling. And it sounds amazing!
More tomorrow..."

Could it be the Midas, a new Behringer ARP Odyssey, or this industrial retro synth? Or is a new all analog mixer!? :) We'll find out soon enough...

And via Uli Behringer from just two weeks ago referencing the industrial retro synth:

"In my very early years, I designed a synthesizer called the UB1 which was a combination of a synth, electric piano and organ. Nothing great compared with today’s standards but the UB1 was my first step into the world of music and electronics.

As a passionate musician myself, I always wanted to design another synthesizer ever since. Around 3 years ago I sat down with our brilliant Midas engineers and we came up with an incredible concept for a new synthesizer that is so revolutionary, that it will be a world’s first in at least 4 major aspects.

We will soon be making the first announcements and hopefully ship the synthesizer later this year.

If I could nominate one product, then it is this new synthesizer, a truly amazing instrument that is very close to my heart. I am extremely proud of the Midas engineers who put their heart and soul into it.

Uli"

G-Storm Electro 4023 VCF Eurorack Filter First Look ARP Odyssey MK1 Adaptation [Demo #1]

Published on Apr 8, 2019 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c.2019

The 4023 VCF is a Eurorack filter adaptation of the MKI ARP Odyssey synthesizers that boasted the colorful 4023 module. Don’t be fooled by this early 2-pole 70s design, it retains bass power at higher resonance very well, and can self-oscillate with a robust sine wave when you top out the Resonance. Audio recorded direct to Tascam DR-05, no effects.

Oscillators: Behringer Model D
Envelope: G-Storm 2xADSR
VCA: G-Storm 2xVCA
sequencing: Beatstep Pro"

**REVERB** http://reverb.com/shop/gstormelectro

"The 4023 VCF is a no-compromises Eurorack filter adaptation of the MKI ARP Odyssey synthesizers that boasted the colorful 4023 module. Slim. 8HP. Elegant beauty. Don’t be fooled by this early 2-pole 70s design, it retains bass power at higher resonance very well, and can self-oscillate with a robust sine wave when you top out the Resonance.

This 4023 VCF adaptation as close to the original as possible including Rochester re-issue CA3080 OTAs struck from the Intersil masks, matched discrete TO-92 transistors, 2N5459 FETs, a temperature compensation resistor for frequency stability, and six 20mm Alpha slide potentiometers inspired by look of the original. Per usual, when the input sliders are above 75% it will overdrive the filter input for some lovely saturation. 4023 VCF has the classic ARP vibe you’re seeking in spades."

The Mighty ARP Axxe II

video upload by Erich Izdepski

"I performed major repairs on this synth as documented here. Everything works really well. This is a sales demo video but will also show you how cool this synth can be. https://erichizdepski.wordpress.com/2...

This is a great synth. Powerful filter with the ability to play it in tune with the other oscillators. Great spacey sound fx potential. Much stronger audio output level than the Behringer Odyssey (which I have and really like). Can control Eurorack gear or other analog synths using CV (has pitch, gate, and trigger in and out jacks)."

via this auction

"This is a great little synth with many interesting abilities. One of the best single oscillator synths, in my opinion, and I have owned several.

Here is a list of problems I fixed:

Several sliders did not affect the sound- all sliders cleaned, lubricated and working fine now

replaced all key bushings; cleaned key bus bar

repaired about 10 keys with 3-d printed parts

replaced power LED – new green LED with a 2.2KOhm series resistor installed to control voltage

installed a fuse and fuse holder in power supply

replaced IC 723, large filter capacitors, and tantalum capacitors in power supply

replaced tantalum capacitors at input to positive and negative rails on main PCB

not in tune – calibrated and sounds great

check power supply voltage output and look at ripple – calibrated and voltage is spot on and clean

You can search for my blog (erichizdepski.wordpress.com) and read about the repair details.

Even has the original slider caps!"

Aerated Distortion: synth track criada com Moog Sub 37 e MPC One

video upload by Marcus Padrini

Tudo sequenciado no MPC One.

During the pandemic, I recorded some ideas with an alternative setup. Now, little by little, I'm transferring the tracks to the main setup. This is the case with the track Aerated Distortion, created from a Dave Smith Tetra preset, with a sequence from Arturia Keystep pro, strings from the Behringer VC340 and lead from the Moog Sub 37. Of all of them, only the Sub 37 remains in the setup.

The Tetra and VC340 have been replaced here by the MPC One and its virtual instruments. I recreated the Tetra timbre using Jura (juno 106) and the strings with Solina from MPC. Clouds Forming

Martin Peters

"A couple of weeks ago I got my Oberheim OB-Mx back from repairs after it has been in repair for a year. There are 3 voicecards inside, each containing 2 voices, so it has 6 voices in total. But 1 of these voicecards could not be tuned anymore. The repair-shop could not find the problem so I still have 1 voicecard I cannot use.

Anyways, this video starts with the Oberheim OB-Mx having the VCA's opened playing a G minor chord. The Minimoog solo comes in and there is a sort of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' deja-vu. The Polymoog with the Behringer VP1 Phaser accompanies the Minimoog. After that some tones are added from the Synthesizers.com Modular, Oberheim SEM and Korg ARP Odyssey with the VCA's opened. Then the sequences start, adding the Joranalogue Generate 3 and Mutable Instruments Plaits. It all builds up to a climax where the Odyssey plays some notes. And after that it all fades out to nothing.

The track was recorded live to multi-track on the Behringer X32 Compact and mixed in Studio One afterwards. The mix only involves some gain staging, EQ and compression. No track edits where performed and no automation was used.

I hope you will enjoy it

You can download the track from Bandcamp. https://attorks.bandcamp.com/track/cl..."

Synth Jams I Album by Marcus Padrini

Marcus Padrini, featured numerous times here on MATRIXSYNTH, has a new release out titled Synth Jams. Above are three videos featuring his music: 522 - [previously posted here], Synth Odyssey - [previously posted here], Influences [previously posted here]. Details on the release including links to your favorite platforms follow:

"Synth Jams I is a compilation of tracks recorded live using analog and digital synthesizers and drum machines. The songs were created from improvisations with different instruments and were captured practically the moment after their creation.

With influences from the songs and timbres of classic and new artists like Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Erik Norlander and Kebu, besides several works of electronic/instrumental music, the tracks of the album do not have a common style, but they share a main element: the sounds created with synthesizers.

In this process, the idea was to interact with the instruments, create and manipulate sounds in real time. It was also part of the plan to leave the computer and music production software out of this process. Therefore, anything that could not be played simultaneously live was performed by a MIDI sequencer (Roland MC808).

Gear used on Synth Jams I
►Analog Synths: Arp Odyssey, Moog Sub 37, Dave Smith Instruments Mopho Keyboard & TETRA, Behringer Deepmind 12.
►Digital Synths: Korg Radias, Roland JP8080, Roland SH-32, Access Vรญrus Indigo, Yamaha DX7II, Nord Stage 2EX.
►Drum Machines & Grooveboxes: Roland MC-808, Roland TR-626, MFB 522, Korg Electribe ER-1, Novation Circuit.

"Clair de lune" - 3-voice synthesizer rendition: Moog Sub37 CV, ARP Odyssey, Blue Marvin 2600

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
I split Clair de lune into 3 monophonic voices, and ran each voice through a different synth, using the MOTU midi express 128. The first voice was the Behringer Blue Marvin 2600, the second voice was the ARP Odyssey, and the 3rd Bass Voice was the Moog Subsequent 37 CV. Just a little experiment. Let me know in the comments what rendition you want me to do in the near future. Cheers:)

Moog Voyager Arp Odyssey Electronica

Published on Apr 5, 2016 farmyfarm

"A freestyle demo utilizing what I've learned of the amazing ways the Moog Voyager can be integrated into a vintage set-up with some modern twists. Applying a 16 step stuttering bassline compliments of my trusty Roland TR-707 via the trigger out to the Moog Voyager Envelope/Gate In. Then, using the T.C. Flashback X4 Midi synced to the Moog for the depth of delay needed to compliment the bassline. The TR-707 is also sending MTC to the Voyager's LFO which, when the mod wheel is applied adds modulation with Sample and Hold and wave modulation to OCS-3 for a gritty FM undertone. The TR-8, TR-707, Volca Beats, SP-404-SX are alternating various percussive elements while the Behringer Tweakalizer (An inexpensive gem) adds some nice variation with HP and LP filtering LFO and EQ cut switches.) The Odyssey again pulls lead line duties with judicious filtering and reverb with the Eventide Space. It's very on-the-fly and has my usual brain farts. Recorded again with the ZOOM Q4 with direct HD Audio. Use your quality ear monitors for the best audio experience!!"
