Sequential Fourm | Ambient synth performance
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
A live synthesizer jam performed entirely on hardware, with the Fourm at the centre.
The amazing Devin Belanger (@devinbelangermusic) aka Miles Away (@thisismilesaway) was kind enough to lend me his Sequential Fourm. Thank you, Devin! If you haven't checked out Devin's amazing channel or his music, please do so!
The Fourm is Sequential's entry-level analog polysynth, as far as I can tell. It has four voices, which is somewhat limited but OK for many circumstances, and sounds (to my ears) as good or better than any other Sequential synth I've personally owned. (Note: I haven't had a Prophet 5/10 and Devin swears by that thing.) So if the sound and a decent workflow are all that matters for you, and four voices is enough, then this thing is a no-brainer.
That said, its main feature is its poly-aftertouch keybed, which allows for you to modulate sounds by pressing into each of the keys. I love polyAT, and the Hydrasynth's polyAT keybed was tremendously inspiring to me. That said, I really struggled to get the polyAT to feel right for my playing. The biggest issue was a discrepancy between how the black keys responded versus the white keys. For the white keys, I could get a great linear aftertouch response, but with the black keys, it would often quickly ramp from 0 to 100 in a way I couldn't control. This could be something I get better at, or maybe it's this particular unit, or maybe it's just an issue with my skills. But ultimately, I found that the polyAT wasn't for me.
The sound, however, most certainly was. This thing sounds amazing. Here, I ran it through the Walrus M1 Mk2 (for auto-panning) and the Empress Reverb (for reverb), and then into the Soma Cosmos for looping. The first half was the more traditional "song" aspect, but truthfully, the second half wandering was my favourite. I could listen to a synth like this all day.
Thanks for listening.
Recorded live to a stereo output, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

CREATURE - Prophet 10 (Brutal Dark Ambient synth music)
video upload by Kevin Rix
"One take performance on a Prophet 10. Pedals used include Chase Bliss Onward, Soma Cosmos, and Noise Engineering Batverb. Also used a Dark Star sequencer for the middle sections.
This world we live in is becoming increasingly more complicated and is about to see a huge shift with the arrival of AI. I want this channel to showcase raw performances and celebrate the human aspect of art and music.
This is an anti-AI channel. Everything is composed and performed by me with no editing. Just raw performances created in the moment."

DUB PLEX | Make Noise
video upload by MAKEN0ISE
"A subterranean Plexiphon patch.
Plus a visual score by Bruce Magill, realized sonically by Norman Freund!
More info about Norman's performance below:
SoundCloud: / landscape-graphic-score
BandCamp: https://normanfreund.bandcamp.com/tra...
Description:
Late 2025 Walker Farrell from MakeNoise started an international music challenge for musicians to participate in, submit your own Graphic Score, then at the draw of a hat, you would be assigned someone else's score to interpret and create music from. I am always interested in music challenges and the more off-beat the better.
Late December 2025 names were drawn at random, Walker constructed a collection of MakeNoise modular synthesis cards to generate random numbers to set who gets what score. I was allocated a topographical map from Bruce Magill that contained some text notes and penciled in graphics. Bruce had a musical concept in mind for this score but did say "Notes for this graphic score are only a suggestion. You can disregard them and interpret this score in any way you like, if you wish. ... Don't overthink." So I did have free reign to interpret the score as I wished, so I could let my imagination run wild. In my younger years I did a lot of wilderness hiking so was and still am, quite familiar with topographic maps, so for me this was the perfect score, something I could relate to and understood. As a side note, there is no right answer for interpreting a graphic score, so understanding is not an essential ingredient, however a vivid imagination is. It is a bit like laying on the grass and looking up at the clouds -- what do you see beyond back scattered light from suspended vapours in the sky.

Infinite Textures // HBI Harmonics & SOMA Cosmos
video upload by Andre Bregegere
"Improvised ambient session exploring the interaction between wavetable drones and drifting delays.
In this performance, the HBI Harmonics provides a steady, three-voice foundation, which is then processed and evolved by the SOMA Cosmos. No external synchronization or sequencing was used. The performance was recorded live on a single stereo channel, then lightly mixed and mastered in Pro Tools.
Technical Breakdown:
• HBI Harmonics: A compact desktop synthesizer featuring three wavetable oscillators. It specializes in generating thick, harmonically rich drones through independent tuning and long-phase LFO modulation of waveform shapes.
• SOMA Cosmos: A "Drifting Memory Station" designed to create ever-evolving soundscapes. Unlike a traditional looper, it uses prime-number-based delay offsets and chaotic modulation to ensure the audio buffer never repeats identically."

Discovering the Chromaplane: First Improvised Sessions with Soma Cosmos
video upload by Andre Bregegere
"In this video, I explore the Chromaplane by Koma Elektronik and Passepartout Duo for the very first time. To process the sound, I run the signal through the Soma Laboratory Cosmos Drifting Memory Station, allowing the electromagnetic textures to evolve into a shifting, ambient soundscape. The performance were recorded live from the Cosmos stereo output, then lightly mixed and mastered in Pro Tools.
The video is in two parts:
• Take 1: My initial interaction with the instrument, focusing on discovering its tactile response and basic tonal characteristics.
• Take 2: A second attempt where I push the density of the performance while maintaining the same tuning from the first session.
I have included annotations at the beginning of the video to explain exactly what the Chromaplane is and how I am approaching this specific setup.
Gear used:
• Koma Elektronik Chromaplane
• Soma Laboratory Cosmos (Drifting Memory Station)

When Looping Goes Too Far: Cafe Quantum, Spotykach and Cosmos
video upload by HAINBACH

And more importantly, which one is the one that entices you the most? From the endless drifting of Soma Cosmos, the blooming soundscapes of Synthux Academy Spotykach to the Eldritch madness that is the Ciat-Lonbarde Cafe Quantum, here be loops.

event horizon — ambient space synth journey
video upload by SOUNDS OF SYNTH
"Cinematic ambient music — atmospheric synth soundscapes for deep, immersive listening.
This track is made purely from a sine wave. The Novation Peak is playing a single oscillator which I've put through a Mood Mk2 pedal to create the ambient, spacey vibe.
I've cranked the distortion up on the Peak which is what gives the lead a bit of grit particularly towards the end.
I hope you enjoy. peace all.

Sonicware ELZ_1 Play | Ambient explorations
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
Two ambient pieces composed and performed live on the ELZ_1 Play, with effects.
00:00 - Song 1
04:22 - Song 2
Sonicware sent the ELZ_1 Play over for me to explore because of its big new firmware update. To be honest, there is an overwhelming number of synth engines and effects within the ELZ_1 Play and I only briefly explored the options with any systematicity. Most of the time, I found the synth was a nice device to tweak presets or dial in a sound quickly based on a particular engine type.
A few of the synth engines are quite beautiful and unique, including some tuned noise that it is really pretty. For these explorations, I was mainly drawn to sounds I can't normally make on my other synths, like electric pianos or organs. The options to make and tweak whatever you want are there, but they require you navigating the menus to find them. That aspect works perfect well, but mostly I found the ELZ_1 Play was a great couch device where I noodle.
The biggest and best surprise was definitely the looper, which allows you to have four separate, synchonized or asynchronous loops just spinning away. The looper is an easy way to quickly find inspiration and compose something new.
For these live performances, I've also paired the ELZ_1 Play with a few effects to extend or build the ambient sketch into something a little more complete. The Walrus Qi adds some granular, delay, chorus, and reverb to the finale of the first piece, and the Meris Polymoon adds its phased delay-verb to the second. I also thought I'd try the Soma Cosmos as a different take on the looping idea for the second track.
Overall, I found the ELZ_1 Play to be a good companion for those tired days where all the music-making energy I had was on the couch. Having so many engine types meant I could explore new sounds, and having the asynchronous looper meant I was often quickly in the territory of a full piece.
Thanks for listening.

From the Deep // Moog Matriach - FM Synthesis | HWJ Challenge | #synthjam
video upload by SOUNDS OF SYNTH
"Hi
This upload is inspired by the HWJ Challenge which is to make a track using FM synthesis.
The patch in this track is created on the Moog Matriach and I'm routing OSC 2 to OSC 1 and OSC 4 to OSC 3. I've got some additional modulation happening on the mod-wheel which is subttly affecting OSC 4 and therefore the sound of OSC 3.
For the massive reverb/delay in the middle and the end I'm using a Soma Cosmos.
PEACE ALL

video upload by MKustomAudio
"Some material sequenced on the Squarp Hermod+ using different measure lengths for the parts alternating how it sounds as the patterns loop. Sound sources include the Oberheim OB-6, Moog Mother 32, Novation Peak, and Korg Minilogue XD and Arp 2600m. All summed audio is then routed through the Soma Cosmos for some additional ambience."

Live Ambient :: Soma Cosmos :: Oberheim OB-X8 :: Roland JX-8P :: Linnstrument
video upload by Harry van Mierloo
"Layered ambient recording of the Oberheim OB-X8 playing together with the Roland JX-8P, through the wonderful Soma Cosmos.
The JX-8P is playing one of my favourite homemade pad-patches, and the OB-X8 is live played on the Linnstrument and tweaked in order to feed various sounds on the fly into the Cosmos. The filter of the Oberheim is controlled with my foot using an expression pedal. The result is a highly layered ambient track full of unpredictable – and sometimes hard to keep within control – harmonics.
Pepper & Salt from Strymon BigSky, enjoy!"

Superlative SB01 (Space Bee) :: Soma Cosmos :: Roland JX-8P :: Ambient live jam :: PART I
video upload by Harry van Mierloo
"This week I've received my Superlative SB01 (Space Bee)... after 6 years of patiently waiting! 😅 Super happy with it so far. Very beautiful to see and built like an American tank. Sound wise I cannot distinguish it from my SH-101 here. The SB01 actually sounds slightly better, probably due to the age of the components of my good old SH-101. And it's definitely a lot more solid and thinner than the original, due to the metal casing.
Instead of a full review or demonstrating all the classic 101 sounds that you find all over the internet already, I thought let's just practice a bit more with my @somasynths Cosmos and put the SB01 through it for some real-world sounds and live ambient, together with my good old JX-8P (always a great companion for 101 sounds).
All recorded in one take in Ableton, with a touch of salt from the @strymon BigSky.
Enjoy!"

"New day, new recording... With exactly the same setup as yesterday I've recorded another dark ambient jam, again with a primary role for the new Superlative SB01 (Space Bee), together with the Roland JX-8P through the wonderful @somasynths Cosmos.
This time I’ve managed to fix the video latency issue when exporting from Ableton, so video & audio should now be in sync. 😅
Enjoy!"

Djupviks Modules // Cosmos // Slöer // SH-101
video upload by Lesjamusic
"Off screen, the SH-101 is acting as the sole sound source. That's fed into both DJupviks phasers (The Qu and Neo Tokyo), which are modulated by Bristol Bloodhound Mk 2 and Tangram. Bunker Archeology smears it all up. Soma Cosmos and Walrus Audio Slöer make everything dreamy again."
