"This improvisation is heavily inspired by the track Floating of the Klaus Schulze album Moondawn. But then again, it also sounds nothing like it but you might recognize some elements. At least the tempo is the same. You hear 3 different sequences, two 8-step sequences from the Doepfer MAQ16/3 driving the self-built Modular and the Ian Fritz Through-Zero VCO together with the Blacet MiniWave and an 8-step sequence from the Synthesizers.com Q960 manually alternated on row 1 and 2 with the Q962 sequential switch driving the Synthesizers.com Modular. I use the Q963 trigger bus to switch on and off individual steps of the Q960 sequencer and use the first four dials on row 3 of the MAQ16/3 to alternate the gates which are used to shift the Q960 sequencer. The notes of the sequences are as follows:

MAQ16/3: Tempo 128
MAQ16/3: Row 1: c4 e4 g3 a3 f4 a3 d4 d3
MAQ16/3: Row 2: a3 d4 d3 a3 d4 a3 e4 d3 (half time of the other sequences, so tempo is 64)
MAQ16/3: Row 3: x x x x (gate is shifting the Q960)

Q960 : Row 1: e3 f3 d3 a3 e3 g3 a3 d4
Q960 : Row 2: d3 e3 a3 e3 e3 a3 a3 c4

I use the grey MIDI keyboard to transpose the sequences. Preset A13 of NanoStudio on the iPad is used to do some tones and chords. The strings are performed on the Roland XP-80. The solo's come from the Creamware MiniMax ASB together with the Clavia Nord Lead 1 and from the Waldorf Q Keyboard. Operating the camera, playing the keyboards and dialing the knobs is difficult so I hope you don't mind that the action sometimes is just outside the viewing range of the camera.

It's a bit dark in here... Warning: this video is grungy, distorted and loud! Turn your speakers down and adjust up. Watch in 480p. Note it will sound better with decent headphones and/or speakers. Also the noise you hear in the beginning is the line in on the Canon T2i. It goes away the second the audio comes in. Don't be frightened. :) This is a very simple patch: 1. Audio out of a 3 OSC Moog Voyager patch with its filter wide open, no resonance and a held note into the Filtare - nothing in between and no effects. 2. Tiptop Audio Z8000 Matrix Sequencer/Programmer into 1 V/O CV in of Filtare. 3. Harvestman Zorlon Cannon 4bit out into adjustable CV in of Filtare to start, then the filter type CV in at the end. 4. Roland TR-909 for Z8000 clock and kick. What's going on: 0:00 - opening and adjusting the filter cutoff of the Filtare with no mods active and no resonance. 0:14 - adjusting resonance followed by filter 0:28 - starting sequence on Z8000 0:44 - adding Zorlon Cannon CV modulation to Filtare - note all you are hearing is the Moog running through the Filtare. No audio from the Zorlon Canon is coming through. The Zorlon is only a modulation source to the cutoff frequency of the Filtare. 1:09 - I stop the sequence and adjust the amount of modulation coming in from the Zorlon Canon so you can hear some of the spectral harmonics bleeding in and out. 1:30 - sequence kicks in again this time with the bass drum audible followed by slight adjustments. 2:26 - I get some odd rhythmic things happening with the cutoff and resonance. The 909 is still your standard 4/4 kick, so what you are hearing is the Filtare responding to the sequence. 2:44 - I increase the Zorlon Canon modulation for more grunge. 3:01 - I start to sweep the filter mode from Lowpass through Notch to Highpass. 3:12 - I bring the Zorlon Canon mod amount back down. 3:17 - I sweep back to Lowpass and add back the Zorlon making adjustments. 3:51 - I pull out the Zorlon and plug it into the CV mod for filter type. Note the Zorlon Canon 4bit out can be considered a more extreme modulation source. With something like a slower LFO or sequence, the result would of course be much smoother. This video was just a little sound exploration after first use and it did turn out very, very grungy. The Filtare is more than capable of your classic smooth filter characteristics. Check out the sound samples on to the right of the Filtare SEIII site here. Update: Timeline above updated to match YouTube. It was slightly off.

This is a very cool filter. Some notable features include:

- Smooth adjustable transition of filter type from Lowpass through Notch to Highpass with Notch out (most filters do not allow this - see the third pic here and the video)

- CV in for filter TYPE (you can modulate the filter type!)

- Two CV ins for Filter Cutoff - one adjustable and one 1 V/O fixed

- Separate CV in for Resonance

the livewire audio frequency generator is designed with expandability in mind. there are currently 3 new modules in the works, which are intended to further expand upon the afg’s sound shaping capabilities:
x-mod controller - provides 4 channels of fully routable cross-modulation between 2 afgs… 2 channels in each direction. each channel features manually or voltage controlled modulation depth.
audio compositor - enables the user to coalesce harmonics from all 8 of the afg’s output waveforms into a single mono or 2 stereo outputs. eight channels of bi-polar, voltage controlled mixing determine amplitude & panning of each waveform in the stereo outputs or amplitude & phase inversion in the mono output.
flux capacitor - allows the user to select between alternate universes accessed through the inter-dimensional portal that is activated by the matter/anti-matter switch.

Verbos 258v dual oscillator (buchla format)

This is apparently one of the early 258v's that Mark Verbos made. There are two flaws with these early models.

- The screen printing is slightly off, so the lines don't line up with adjacent modules as can be seen in the photo. Not really a problem except for those who are OCD about such things.

- Additionally, it's a very tight squeeze on some cases due to the screw holes being a tiny bit off. It fitted in my 201-4 rack without any problems, but in my 24 space system, I couldn't line up the top holes (as can also be seen in the photograph). This may or may not affect other peoples systems, as there seems to be some very slight variation between spacing, and tolerances.
Worst case, you can use it like I have the last year by just screwing it in with 2 screws, and holding it down when removing jacks.

Other than this, it works just fine, and sounds fantastic. It's amazing for deep boomy bass noises, and the FM sounds that come from it are crazy.
I'm only selling it because I have several similar oscillators in my eurorack system, which I turn to for this kind of sound.
I'd love to keep it, but 200e boat space is at a premium :-)"

It has 23 keys, 6 different keyboard patterns, 10 sound affects, 5 learning exercises, 12 different rhythms, and a tempo control . When you press a key, a corresponding red light appears representing the note on the music tablature screen.

Sounds:
This electronic piano TALKS!! Much like a speak and spell, the machine will ask you to perform tasks. When you first turn it on it asks, "Please choose an activity." Some tasks it will say "NO, try again." or "YES, you are right."

There are 7 different overall sounds the piano can perform as, piano, organ, flute, cello, trumpet, and voice.

Along with the regular piano keys, there are 10 sound effects keys. You can make a sound like a dog, fish, cow, goat, bird, and various percussion sounds.

But the COOLEST SOUND this piano makes is the voice function. If you press the little red button that looks like a face, the piano will function as the scales. Press a key and the piano will say, in a human-like voice, "Do, Re, Me, etc..."

The piano also has 12 different rhythm you can choose, including Bassanova, Disco, Rock 'n Roll, and others. There is also a tempo button that fluxuates the speed from pretty mellow to normal to super fast, nearly machine gun fire quality.

The demo function is cool. You can choose a song and the piano will automatically play the song and the corresponding notes lighting up on the screen.

Mechanics:
Manufactured by in the year 1986 buy the company Video Technology Educational Electronics or VTECH.

Takes 6 C batteries. there is no corrossion in the battery compartment. It also takes an 9V 500MA electronic adaptor.

Apparently, this machine holds some memory capacity; there is a record function...

If you're into circuit bending, the keyboard seems somewhat easy to get into."

"From British TV Show Top Of The Pops from 1978 this was the disco version of Ron Grainer's theme to the DOCTOR WHO TV series by MANKIND, produced by Don Gallacher and arranged by Mark Stevens. The late 1970's period was very strong and competitive for music as record sales of the whole top forty were massive back then compared to today and although this only managed number 25 on the UK charts it still sold a fair few copies and hung around for 12 weeks and was aired on the show two or three times. This particular clip is from 31st December 1978.


This video is uploaded only for promotion of the disco era and the music of Mankind, Ron Grainer and Doctor Who and I will gladly remove the video clip if requested if it's in breach of any copyright."

The unit has 8 sound FX with a pitch control. I increased the pitch to an extreme high! This is switchable (not used in this vid)

The rest of the bends and controls manipulate the units Pitch shift effect, I used this effect on its own for the first 4 and half minutes to show the bends added make it produce some weird sounds without anything going through the inputs.
From about 4:30 onwards I put my Yamaha PSS-30 unbent drums through it.

The Pots/Knobs produce feedback effects aswell as messing the sound of the pitch warps, the switches can alter the effect in extreme or very subtle ways. The momentary button is for a feedback hold.

The bends works much better on drums. I hope the video is ok and shows what this unit can do to normal unbent drums."
