"Working on a new track.

Mutable Instruments - Elements: one output being fed back into itself via a vca and filter, and lots of outputs from the Livewire Chaos Computer controlling a lot of inputs on the Elements.
I use this patch, or a variation of it quite a lot and have given it the nick name The Dark Orchestra.

Mutable Instruments - Edges: Running an arpeggio from a Korg MicroKey through a Polyend Poly module and feeding four of the cv's to Edges, and four gates to envelopes to shape the individually filtered (Doepfer filters) outputs of Edges. Then run through input one of the Modcan Dual Delay.

ALM - Akemie's Taiko: Dead simple, cv from the Klee. Then run through input two of the Modcan Dual Delay.

Folktek - Matter: Dead simple, two trigger outs from the Klee, then the output of Matter routed through the Intellijel Springray.

That's about it.

Moog Minitaur Update v2.2 Released Allowing Direct Access to Extended Parameters

You can find the download on Moog's website here.

Minitaur owners will be happy to know they can now access parameters directly on the synth that were previously only available through the Minitaur's software editor. The Glide switch now acts as a shift key allowing you to access the parameters. To the left you can see the shortcuts, which include the ability to save up to 128 presets directly on the unit itself, modulation sources, hard sync, oscillator 2 modulation, CV mapping, and CV to MIDI conversion, and more.  The update includes additional modulation sources including new LFO waveforms, sample & hold, and the filter envelope.  VCO 2 now supports hard sync.

"This week I thought I would do something with my Elektron kit + the Dave Smith Pro 2. Its been a while since I actually turned on the Pro 2 being consumed with learning and using other parts of the studio. I forget how great the filters can be … oh.. .and how you can over saturate the digital delay lines a little too easy when not focusing!

Thought I would do something a little more like the tracks I normally make when not making youtube videos. The two things I seem to get asked for the most are longer clips and people wanting to see me work live. Australian internet it a little slow at best so live streaming is not possible in my area without using LTE/4G Mobile data….Very Expensive!

I set up my camera and the Microsoft Surface 4 to record the clip and edited the results. The music and my playing is 100% live (at the time) warts and all. Hope you enjoy :D"

Music From Outer Space Eurorack Module Series—Coming Autumn 2017

We have some exciting news in via SynthCube. You should all be familiar with Ray Wilson's Music From Outer Space synth DIY. His contributions have helped launch a number of synth makers and synth DIY enthusiasts. Aside from running his site, Ray was also the author of Make: Electronic Synthesizers.

"Music From Outer Space is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of Ray Wilson’s Music From Outer Space modules adapted to the eurorack modular format.

Beginning with the core modules, each of Ray’s modular analog designs are being re-released in the eurorack format using redesigned and updated SMT PCBs. The initial release- scheduled for Autumn 2017—will include the VCO, VCLFO, Dual VCA, Phaser, Noise, Mixer, LP VCF, AR EG, and ADSR EG. Widths range from 6hp to 14hp in 2hp increments.

Consistent with the philosophy of Ray Wilson (founder of MFOS), the modules are designed in a way to introduce new users to analog modular synthesis, with each module designed to provide one of the ‘core elements’ of subtractive synthesis. In addition, this range of modules has been designed using DIY-friendly SMT components, to further encourage synth DIY enthusiasts to consider SMT as an alternative to through-hole designs. Experienced eurorack synth users will enjoy the opportunity to include one or more of these ‘pure’ analog designs in their existing setups.

All modules will be available as assembled units, full SMT kits, partial SMT kits (SMT PCB parts pre-populated,) panel+pcb bundles and standalone PCBs. Technical and functional details will be released with each module. Pricing is being finalized, but will be consistent with comparable eurorack assembled modules and kits.

"More of a proof-of-concept than anything, here's the live version of my new track Game On!, which straddles the Chiptune and Complextro genres.

In this video, I did my best to perform as many parts from my track as possible, while still maintaining the integrity and energy of the original, with a couple artistic deviations to set it apart from the original (including a very obnoxious synth solo lol)

You don't often see many acts performing EDM live in the traditional sense for a number of reasons; some producers simply aren't competent musicians (or musicians at all), and even if they are its still difficult to play all parts (or as many as possible) with enough precision to make it convincing.

Apologies for the sub-par lighting and somewhat-awkward camera angle, I did my best with the limited resources/space I have to work with at the moment!

"Just an off-the-cuff recording; it was a nice evening, so I was sitting in the garden with the Volca and the iPad, as I sometimes do. I'm not sure how much value this has to anyone else, but I decided to share it anyway.
The Volca was recorded into AUM via a Line6 Sonic Port, delay and reverb from AUFX:DUB and AudioReverb.
The footage was from a recent trip to Europe, which I thought I'd lost, as was intended for my first Odyssey video, but oh well...
