Analogue Solutions Fusebox: Halo Bass Patch (by request)

Published on Aug 27, 2017 rezfilter

"Here's a quick vid (by request) demonstrating Fusebox reproducing the Depeche Mode Halo bass line. Drums (clearly) are not Fusebox!

This is a single, 3-oscillator bass patch and is achieved by precisely opening and closing the filter via MIDI velocity via Logic.

Pitch is controlled live via the Interval Generator.

Filter velocity can be controlled in a number of creative ways on Fusebox, and the video shows the Patternator adding some variation toward the latter half."

Roland SH-01A - That classic SH 101 Sound!

Published on Aug 27, 2017 soundseasy

"In this video we've synced up the SH-01A with the Boutique TR-08.
We used the SH-01a's onboard sequencer function to create a basic sequence as the backbone to explore the Sh-01a's sounds.

The set up is about as simple as it gets, with the TR-08 taking charge of the tempo. You'll notice that half way through we did a quick "Start Stop" to get the SH-01a's sequencer back on the right downbeat.
This isn't because the Sh-01a drifted, we just hadn't started on the right beat in the first place. Not that you can really tell.

Like the whole Boutique range from Roland, the SH-01a is a fantastic recreation of the original. You also now get the ability to play chords! It also has polyphony and unison, (which sounds amazing!)
Of course size can be an issue with the Boutique range, but once you let that go and just listen to what comes out you wont be at all disappointed."

Circuit Mono Driver (Novation Circuit Mono Station thru Moog MF Drive)

Published on Aug 27, 2017 HardtekStudios

"For this Circuit Mono Station jam, I run the audio out of the C-Mono into the MF Drive pedal for extra distortion and to utilize the analog Moog filter. The Aux CV on the C-Mono is sending the Evvelope to the MF Drive to control the filter. The C-Mono is using a High Pass filter, while the MF Drive is using a Low Pass filter. So I am essentially using a serial Band Pass filter. also taking advantage of C-Mono's Osc Sync."

Yamaha CS-60 Synthesizer

Published on Aug 27, 2017 micronautical

"Needs work, but it's alive!"

via this auction

" This is a working Yamaha CS-60 Synthesizer with some issues. It is complete, however, and could be brought back to full playing capacity.

First, the good:
All components and circuitry are present, and all voices appear to sound (and are in decent tune, but could use fine tuning). Just about all of the sliders work, and all keys play as they should. The pitch ribbon works fine, as does the aftertouch on this synth. The glissando and portamento features work as they should, and the ring modulator and sub-oscillator features work.

Physically, there are no broken keys, missing switches, slider caps or knobs. The case is in good, solid condition, and the top cover is included and in good shape, too. The instrument is in fair physical shape, with no serious dings in any surface or tolex rips, but certainly with many scuffs and other signs of use. There are some chips on the control panel that can be seen in a picture or two.

NOTE: There are NO legs, music stand, or pedals included in this sale.

As far as specific features and playability, the synth is at about 80-90% functionality, but the issues described below obviously limit the range of what a player can do on this synth.

Unknowns: I haven’t tested pedals with this unit, nor have I hooked anything up to the EXT. jack in the back. I therefore cannot speak to the status of these functions.

Here are the issues:
1. The mystery issue is an overarching coming and going of volume on the presets, no matter what is being played or what features are being engaged. It occurs independently from the sustain settings. It’s as if the total output rises and falls (a la vibrato) in volume, in a predictable, pulsating manner. (Is this a sample and hold or other KBC logic / control issue? Dunno.) This doesn’t seem to be the case with the Panel and Memory settings.
2. The sustain seems to be stuck on.
3. Other issues are these: The ATTACK and DECAY slider controls for the ring modulator section don’t work; the green slider for UPPER on the Keyboard Control Brilliance interface doesn’t work; and the VCO and VCF sliders on the Aftertouch section don’t engage the sub-oscillator section as they should."

Jen SX1000 Synthetone

"The Synthetone SX-1000 is an old Italian basic mono-synth. It has a single analog DCO with three waveforms: sawtooth, square, and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). There is an analog filter (12dB/octave) with cutoff, resonance, and LFO modulation. There is also a simple ADSR envelope for shaping your sounds. In addition there are also white/pink noise generators a glide effect and a vibrato effect. It's known for fairly stable tuning too. Probably its best sounds are the lead ones, the basses aren't that deep but it sure can scream!

What it doesn't have is MIDI, CV/Gate or any other form of control. MIDI retrofits can take care of this however. Unfortunately there is no patch memory, and there is no way around this limitation. Its knobs are boldly colored and well layed-out for easy hands-on access; but you'll need a Polaroid camera if you want to store your patch settings! Also lacking are an arpeggiator, sequencer, pitch/mod wheels, and effects. Nevertheless, this Italian vintage synth is a very cheap entry-level analog synth that has some unique sounds and characteristics"

Synthesis Technology - E352 Drones N Stuff

Published on Aug 27, 2017 DivKidVideo

"This was my first play around with the E352 and I stuck in the familiar morph mode which is pretty much just an E350 on newer technology. It is STILL the smoothest wavetable morphing I've heard anywhere (the E350 was, the E352 takes the torch). I made up a little patch with some oscillating reverb, drones and a second voice to pedal against the pitch changes on the E352. Both outputs are panned hard left and right and an Ornament and Crime sends 3 slow LFOs to morph the X, Y and Z parameters. If you want to see how the whole patch was made then I have an exclusive videos for my Patreon supporters that does just that. http://www.patreon.com/divkid"

Roland D-50 Demo

Published on Aug 26, 2017 100 Things I Do

"When the D50 came out it was a sound revolution. So much Jean Michel Jarre composed most of his Revolutions album on this synth alone. At the end of the 80's and early 90's you heard this synth and its presets absolutely everywhere. From Enya to Ryuichi Sakamoto to Klaus Schulze. Everyone was captivated by the sound.

For me the D-50 is a very different beast from the JD-800 of last week. I love its sounds, its effects are amazing. With the PG-1000 programmer its a little more easy to program and you can still get some very unique sounds. This is still a go to synth today for many for creating atmosphere and suspense. The presets instantly conjures up the years of its birth but still has some special magic in the sound !

The demo was made after a long time of programming, I decided to go with presets. The track is influenced by Ryuichi Sakamoto's Wild Palms score."

Hotchkiss Quad VCA/mixer with digital brain - eurorack module prototype

Published on Aug 26, 2017 Jason Hotchkiss

"Quick jam/demo of a prototype module I'm working on.

It is a quad VCA module in 8HP based on Coolaudio V2164 with full analog signal path. VCAs are digitally controlled and the firmware (a work in progress) generates independent envelopes per VCA channel - supports trigger sequencing, direct CV control per channel, crossfading or triggering across all channels with a single CV, mixer solo/mute control by CV (with attack/decay on mixer mutes for smooth fades), MIDI control and more to come...

Easy to use as a 4 to 1 mixer as all output jacks are normalled to a single output and each channel has a level pot (with 3x gain available). Input jacks are also normalled to allow signals to be split between multiple channels (e.g. to control multiple fx chains for same signal)

This is a first prototype but is a lot of fun already :) Hopefully will be ready for sale in next few months.."

"Improvised jam experimenting with gating the inputs of shard. Grinding, screaming, strangely mesmerising sensory dissonance.

If you came here by accident while looking for the wave105 commercial radio top five and you hate it then i fully understand. If you came here intentionally and knew you'd hate it then you're probably a tool. But that's alright, the sun will still shine in the morning and in ten minutes nobody will care. Stick to what you do best. You'll be fine, i promise.

MIdi to gate to ADSR gens to shard CV ins. Shard to ripples to clouds (as reverb) to output mixer.

Overlooked by Yorick and underpinned by a repetetive drone from a braids which kicks the whole thing off. It builds into some found sound drums and then just drops out and crawls through a storm of debris intil it crawls under the stone it came from at the end.

A more focussed/less lazy beers and early hours jam demo soon. A dedicated 6U 84HP noise, video and tronix suitcase is in the works for this reason."

"SHARD - HNW/PE/GLITCH OSCILLATOR
£85.00 / Coming Soon

SHARD - harsh noise / power electronics and glitch generator

Harsh noise and S&M floor show?

14HP - purely for generating chaos, violence and the abstract.

Controls:
Six oscilators merged into a well masochism - Three fragments - three shards.
Choke - A fetish for punishment - stress relief for the all that is - it's just breath control.
CV control over all parameters - 3x shard / 3x fragment / choke - all with front panel response setting controls.

Intentionally psychotic, with a good degree of control. It thrives on modulation sources. Vactrol implementation benefits from attenuation where finesse is required, but is just as fascinating when under manual or simple high/low gate control.

Skiff friendly - approximately 26cm from panel to deepest component depth.

Published on Aug 26, 2017 Datachrome

"As usual, recorded in one shot. No fancy video edit this time as it's just a simple patch.

Kick, snare, and hi-hats are samples coming from the Orthogonal Devices ER-301 Sound Computer. Hats are modulated by a sample and hold coming from the ER-301.

Pads are from the 4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator sequenced by mutable instruments Peaks in secret mode. A saw wave from the ER-301 is modulating the freq inputs to dirty up the sound a bit. It's then processed by an internal VCA in the ER-301 and then the Doepfer spring reverb.

The rest is ALM Akemie's Taiko modulated by Make Noise Rene and a sample and hold from the ER-301.

All is clocked by TipTop Audio Trigger Riot
