"This is a quick demonstration of what I have been doing with my Smomid project. In this video I am playing my latest Smomid (String Modeling Midi Device) which is about a year old and two of my pyramid interfaces which are in the background and mostly just used as light boxes that interact with what I'm playing. I am currently working on some other interfaces so hopefully I will make some videos of those soon.

"Built in the style of the Impossible Box with custom lamps, keys and switches, all cloth covered cable patch cables, labeled and brass framed panels all built into the custom oak case with internal power supply. Designed to act as a standalone acoustic electronic bio-feedback workstation capable of entire lush compositions. All sections have tip connectors specific to the sound field, and/or each section features a standard 1/4" in and out to allow them to be used to process, sample, mangle or transform any external audio. The cloth covered cables included are also stackable to allow for a range of other possibilities. All CV control jacks are 3.5mm.

The central processing section is essentially a time machine - a piece designed to heavily alter captured loops in thousands of way by use of a magnetic patchbay with patchable keys. This section has 3 voltage clock and/or LFO voltage signals which can be used to synch the other sections via CV, or sent out to control external modular synthesis. Additionally, the 1/4" "tap out" can be sent to any equipment that recieves tap signals, or as a simple method to convert to a midi clock.

There are four acoustic elements - two garden panels, a stringed section reminiscent of the mobius harmonizer and a textured blank panel which can be used to capture micro sounds. Any of these acoustic sections can be sent into any of the other panels for processing/sampling, or they can be sent into the four channel mixer.

The mixer amplifies the signals and allows for volume control of each to be sent into any of the following;

the delay section provides delays from extremely tight to about 1.5 seconds with near endless repeats - like that ofthe micro garden. It also accepts control voltage from either the time machine section or any external CV to control on/off and time.

The wave reverb section provides lush waves like that of theLuminist Garden, but also switchable to provide analog delay like that of the illuminist Garden. It also features CV in to control on/off and has decay when switched off so there are no sudden stops in the wave. The time machine CV out will activate and deactivate the reverb in time if patched to the clocks.

The Filter section has mix, resonance and frequency control and CV in to control the frequency - also patchable from the time machine for synchronization.

The result is a piece that's capable of entire fields of sound and deep, rich and layered compositions.

Aside from the Impossible Box (Arius' own studio piece), this is the finest work by Mr Blaze to date.

Includes manual of operation and the cloth covered power cable runs to standard US style plug - outside the US will need a plug converter.

sounds will be added to the folktek site asap."

This was a set of recordings done entirely on the Vermona Mono Lancet analog mono synthesizer. All the sounds you hear were generated on the Mono Lancet save for the 707 kick and snare on the very first clip. This was recorded as part of a review for DV 24/7 Magazine in London, England in 2011. I used a Fireface 400 firewire interface and Logic Audio for this recording.

The reasoning for using multitracking and effects processing was to show real-world applications of an analog monophonic synthesizer. The Vermona Mono Lancet, due to its discrete design, provided a rich sound palette that could easily be tamed with minor compression and equalization."

"Introducing the Intellijel DUBMIX vc mixer suite.

Introducing the DUBMIX , DUBMIX AUX expander, and DUBMIX MINI expander. This has been a long project and it is finally in production and should ship in a few weeks. We thought a lot about how a VC Mixer would work in a modular synth context and Haven really championed the idea of focusing on VC Aux sends since this would allow for really complex and interesting automated mixing of FX and dub style sound manipulation.
We have tried to conserve size while not sacrificing the space needed for proper playability. This mixer is low noise, low bleed with clickless muting and fast clean VCAs. All the inputs and summing busses have soft clipping to help get warm sounds if you really push the mixes. It has been amazing to hook tup fx to this, automate the panning and get totally dubbed out sounds!

DUBMIX:
28HP
4 inputs, each with 6dB gain and soft clipping
VC Pan for each input channel
VC Aux send for each input channel (with pre and post switch)

Mutable Instruments Ambika (or Roland Juno 60/106)

Published on Jun 28, 2013 piamuk·38 videos

"Ok, now, listen to the video but don't watch. Then, go and listen to a video with a Juno 106. Bet you'll find they sound almost identical. Granted there are differences, but for the most part, it sounds a lot like a Juno (acutally, somewhere between a 60 & a 106. It's not as silky smooth as a 60, but, to me, it sounds slightly better than a106). I'm only making the comparison because there are people that still want the Shruthi-1 IR3109 (Roland Filter Chip) Filter Board. This is proof, that the SMR-4 IS an IR3109!

The Ambika is set with Osc 1 to Saw & Osc 2 off. Osc 1 is slightly modulated by a slow triangle LFO. Added some chorus for the "juno" vibe. Topped it off with a dash of reverb."

Control Voltage Fair 2013: July 3, 6, 7, 8

July 6: Fair day + Richard Devine, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Antenes at the Seaport
July 3 and 7: Workshops at Silent Barn
July 8: Gavin Russom at Le Baron

"Control Voltage Fair is New York City’s annual fair dedicated to celebrating the modular synthesizer. Spanning multiple days, we invite synth makers and distributors to share their creations, inviting audiences to see, hear, touch, and talk about the modular synth. This fair is complemented by concerts and three synth-making workshops.

Introduced in the 1960s, the modular synth has recently experienced a rebirth due to its affordability and sonic flexibility, which makes it a revolutionary tool for creativity. Control Voltage is an open forum inviting person-to-person interaction between maker, musician, and attendee – novices and enthusiasts. Interact with artists and tinkerers, share ideas, and explore the ins and outs of this limitless instrument!

The fair will take place on July 6th, 2013 at South Street Seaport, and will feature the interactive fair followed by a concert with Richard Devine, Keith Fullerton Whitman, and Antenes. Workshops involving building voltage-controlled instruments will take place throughout the month at Silent Barn. We're wrapping up the series with a party at Le Baron Chinatown with Gavin Russom.

Saturday's participating exhibitors include (tbc): 4ms, Casper Electronics, Control, Knas, Main Drag, Make Noise, Malekko, Meme Antenna, Pittsburgh Modular, ProModular, Skychord, Snazzy FX, Steady State Fate, Tip Top Audio

Ed Bear, Pete Edwards, Daniel Fishkin, and G. Lucas Crane will conduct the workshops at Silent Barn on July 3 and 7. Full Descriptions can be found at http://controlvoltagefair.com/sunday/.

"Download here: http://acreil.bandcamp.com/album/misc...

I don't know what's wrong with the likes/dislikes on this video. Analytics shows 24 likes and 0 dislikes, while the video currently shows 3 likes and 29 dislikes. There seems to have been a glitch at some point.

Multitracked Wersi EX20 with Ibanez SDR-1000 reverb. This synth is capable of some highly unusual sounds when (in)correctly programmed, so I thought I'd showcase that side of it. It's sort of a half tribute and half parody of 70s computer music (i.e. Jean-Claude Risset, John Chowning, etc.). I find that sort of music tends to be sometimes brilliant and sometimes ponderously arbitrary (at least from the listener's perspective), so I tried to get a little of each in there.

Due to the bizarre user interface and poor/unavailable documentation, I think very few people have programmed these synths to this extent. At the time I think I only had the German user manual. I have the English manual now, but it omits much of the sound programming stuff.

Most of the interesting territory comes from doing strange things with the pitch and amplitude envelopes. Each stage of the envelope can be assigned a "module" that takes two parameters and does some function like noise modulation, increment, delay, linear or exponential rise or fall, loop, etc. It's even possible to make nested loops. These things don't necessarily behave the way you'd expect (are these undocumented features or bugs?), so it's basically a trial and error process, but the results can be very surprising. Recorded 2010?

Check the (NiCd) memory backup battery if you own one of these. They can leak and cause damage."

"The Wersi is a very deep synth, even today, has an analog filter and uses beautiful additive synthesis, with lots of envelope modulations possible..."

Little Boy Blue via this auction.

"Battery powered modular synthesizer that uses banana jack patch cords. Has a 1/4 input for Guitar, Bass, Microphone or other instruments. Infinitely deep as you create your own sounds by connecting patch cables, this synthesizer uses banana jacks which easily allow the signal to be "multed" e.g. you can send one jack to multiple different jacks by stacking the jacks upon one another. This particular LBB has been modified with a banana jack ground plug on the side, allowing for the ability to interfacing with other banana jack modular synthesizers. It also comes with a some banana jack cables to get you started. Best of all it's battery powered which allows you to take it anywhere, you can use it as a sound generator or use it like a guitar pedal, you can also play it by singing through it using a microphone and routing your voice to the envelope follower.

Features:
2 voltage controlled ramp (sawtooth) oscillators
1/4" input with variable gain
envelope follower with optional inverter
2 channel mixer
intermodulating output stage
powder-coated aluminum case
runs on single 9V battery [NOT INCLUDED]
