Control Audiobus From a Second iOS Device with Audiobus Remote - Holderness FX Demo

Introducing: Audiobus Remote for iPhone and iPad

Published on Jul 22, 2015 AudiobusApp

Update: New intro video added above. Also corrected the title of this post to reflect true functionality of Audiobus Remote.  I originally thought the app allowed you to process audio between iOS.  The app actually allows you to a second iOS device as a remote for easier control.

Using Holderness FX with Audiobus Remote

iTunes: Audiobus Remote - Audiobus Pty Ltd

"With Audiobus Remote, transport your Audiobus-compatible music apps’ controls onto a second iPad or iPhone: it’s a second screen for your Audiobus session, powered by Bluetooth LE and Apple's iBeacon technology.

Start Audiobus Remote for the first time, then simply hold it near your other iPad or iPhone running Audiobus: the two devices will pair immediately, and you’ll see the apps running on your Audiobus device appear on Audiobus Remote’s control surface. You will see all the Audiobus Connection Panel controls you’re used to, including app switching, transport and record controls.

Apps can also define Remote Triggers, providing access to app-specific functions within Audiobus Remote. For example:

- Record or toggle individual loops in Loopy HD.
- Trigger drum samples in DM-1.
- Move between presets in Bias FX and JamUp.
- Change presets and adjust effect controls in Holderness Media’s effects apps including Johnny and Caramel.
- Trigger individual sections in Sector, and switch modes.
- Play a mini version of SoundPrism Electro in Audiobus Remote.

All this on a second screen, while you can stay focused in one app on your main device.

Audiobus Remote. More space for play.

Discover apps with Remote Triggers on our compatible apps directory at http://audiob.us/apps

Audiobus Remote requires the Audiobus app and two Bluetooth Low Energy-compatible iOS devices: iPhone 4S, iPad 3 or iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5th gen, and newer."

Control Voltage with the SH-101 PLUG-OUT for AIRA SYSTEM-1m

Published on Jul 22, 2015 RolandChannel

"Control Voltage is used in modular synthesizers and is the way in which each module interconnects and “speaks” to each other. One control voltage source can control any number of inputs like pitch, volume or cutoff, individually or all parameters simultaneously.

The AIRA SYSTEM-1m semi-modular synthesizer allows you to control the synthesizer via external CV sources, like envelopes and LFOs. You can also control AIRA PLUG-OUT technology using control voltage, and control external gear using the same envelopes and LFOs as the original classic Roland synthesizers.

This video shows how a sequencer can control the pitch and gate of the SH-101 PLUG-OUT on the SYSTEM-1m synthesizer, and how the LFO of the SYSTEM-1m can control the sequencer.

Hexinverter.net Mutant Hot Glue on drums eurorack compressor

Published on Jul 22, 2015

Hexinverter.net

"Mutant hot Glue info below!

4 Channel Mixer with Effects Send
4 input channels, each with their own level and effects send control
Channel A mixer bypass switch and dedicated output for easy sidechain compression
Channel B is dual input, but shares level/send controls (for dual output modules, like the Mutant Hihats)
Channel C+D summed output
Main mixer output normalized to compressor input
Hi-Fidelity Analog Compressor
Soft-knee compressor based on the same family of premium audio ICs used in some 500 Series studio gear
Dedicated threshold and compression ratio controls
Gain control dials in up to +40dB of compressor gain
Compressor sidechain input for pumping effects
ED indicator actively displays the amount of compressor gain reduction
Voltage Controlled Analog Distortion Effect
A classic distortion topology reborn for modular analog synthesizers and drum processing
In/Outputs are conveniently normalized to the module’s send and return jacks
Blend control lets you adjust the mix of distorted and clean input signal
Fast responding CV input allows for complex modulation patterns and even modulating with audio signals
The Mutant Hot Glue is a powerful bus mixer for analog effects chain design. The included high quality analog compressor offers series or parallel compression, and a sidechain input, making it well suited for drum processing. The voltage controlled distortion is based on the batteryACID: IDOW Edition design, but improved for better signal fidelity and performance. It can be used in its default position, normalized to the effects send, or like every other part of the module, broken out and used elsewhere in your modular system.

By default, the 4 channel mixer’s output conveniently feeds into the compressor’s input, giving access to easy New York style parallel compression by way of the compressor blend control. The dedicated output and mixer bypass switch for channel A allow you to easily use it as a sidechain source for the compressor. An effects send and return allow you to create complex effects routings within your modular system. With the number of excellent DSP and other effects modules on the market today, this makes it easy to combine modules to great effect, all within the eurorack modular domain."

"Roland TB-303 Bass Line. It features a single analog oscillator with two waveforms (ramp or square) and has a simple but excellent VCF (filter) with resonance, cut-off, and envelope controls. There are also knobs to adjust tuning, envelope decay, tempo and accent amount.

This TB-303 is in excellent condition. Please see pictures for detail. This unit is 32 years old. There are some nicks and scratches, although none of these affect play or sound. The TB-303 has no battery leakage, all potentiometers sound great and all functions work perfectly.

The TB-303 has been well taken care of and was recently given a run through at Chicago Synthesizer Repair and Restoration and it was given a clean bill of health. I tested everything and it everything works great. DIN SYNC works excellent."

Schneider Concert Featuring Todd Barton, Bruce Bayard & Michael Vannice

via MATRIXSYNTH Member, Todd Barton:

"Dear Friends,

Please join us: Friday, July 24 at Noon. Free and open to the public.

Our special guest is Michael Vannice, whose playing is influenced by experimental music, free jazz, and avant-garde classical music. He will be playing a Eurorack modular synthesis system with a WX-5 wind controller. Todd and I [Bruce Bayard] will both be playing Buchla Electronic Easels.

While this music is electronic in nature, it is not computer music. The instruments are analog synthesizers, and in the case of the two Easels, each has a hard-wired circuit board designed by Todd that creates a very expressive setting we use as our starting point. It allows us to modulate the sound with touch, and it also adds random elements into the mix. It becomes a very interactive process between musician and instrument. In a similar way, Michael uses a wind controller to trigger and modify sound events through breath.

The spacial and acoustical characteristics of the Schneider Museum make for a unique listening experience. A speaker is placed in each of the four galleries, and sound can be directed to each discreetly. In this way, space plays a huge compositional role in the creation of the music.

hope to see you there!!

all best wishes, Todd"

It is in a full flight case and a lot of the keyboard and button functions work but it could do with a service.
This is a real piece of history as Hannett's synths and or ideas he worked out on his synths were used on so many records that he produced.Joy Division, John Cooper Clarke, U2, Stone roses, Magazine, Happy Mondays, New Order.
This is the man who pioneered the use of synths and echo/delay on punk and post punk records.

this will only increase in value like all Hannett's other synths"

7x SPST Switches
1x SPDT Switch (3x positions)

* Each Rotary Wheel has 6 bend points on a 12 point rotation (6x on and 6x off positions).

So as you rotate the switch clockwise: 12noon = off, 1pm = bend point 1, 2pm = off, 3pm = bend point 2, 4pm = off, 5pm = bend point 3 etc etc..)
For use with MIDI controller / sequencer.

Orchestral voices, drum and rhythm styles, sync start/stop, intro/ending/fill. The arranger will add accompaniment and harmony to your melody and chord progressions, with individual volume control over every tone parameter.
---

In regard to circuit bending.. Particularly great for rhythm sampling - white washes, bass and distortion. It's also very textural, as well as self compositional.

Multi-faceted, endlessly interesting and useful for any type of composition.

Comes with charger."

As with all CBMods, this will play as stock with all the modifications in their neutral ("off") state.

Send a MIDI signal through via midi keyboard, daw or external sequencer, select your onboard presets (16 track multi-timbral MIDI) and use the switches to manipulate the sounds.

(Of course there is plenty more you can do - patch editing etc - but this is an excellent way to get started. Don't let MIDI scare you. It's brilliant).

If thoughtfully arranged, the results are likely to be the most interesting compositions you are ever likely to hear.

I have added a bunch of fantastic sysex patches, though all of the original presets are available on-line. Feel free to contact me for further details.

Every Rotary Wheel is linked to each switch, resulting in literally hundreds of thousands of possible bends. Maybe millions. (Any probability specialists out there??)

All modifications are accessible via a custom painted, super clean & spacious interface.

The break-out-box is re-inforced with quality, experienced workmanship.
This D-110 is designed as a standalone unit, though it can be placed at the top of an open rack, or on top of a closed rack if need be.

A rare and exciting sonic beast!"

Vintage Akai Sampler - Released in 1993. Used by Daft Punk and many others I'm sure.

This unit has an expansion board installed to double the sampling time to over 30 seconds.
16-bit, 3.5" floppy disk (5x brand new disks provided), no SCSI interface.

Playback and sampling can be controlled via footswitch (provided).

Essentially this is a gutted old Akai Tuner (Radio) bolted into place, with 12x patch points and 2x Switches mounted to the front panel.

This design allows the user to use the unit in a rack (should they choose to do so).

A great sampler, clean, analog, crunchy, drop the sample rate to get some really cool sounds. You are also able to reverse, edit and loop samples..

5 brand new disks included (along with 2x coloured patch cables, and power charger).
------

In bent form, expect splicing, chopping, bizarre filters, ring modulation, bit crushing, distortion, time stretching, EQ. All kinds of audio savagery..

Your sample will return to unbent when switches are returned to a neutral position. Completely stable and very user friendly."

Yamaha MU90R Tone Generator Demo Song

Published on Jul 21, 2015 Sound Programming

"Demo song from the Yamaha MU90R tone generator recorded direct with no additional effects.

The MU90R is the rackmount version of the Yamaha MU90 desktop synthesizer. The MU series is designed around MIDI and XG sound sets and it ships with 779 instrument voices and 30 drum kits, a minor upgrade from the MU80 that preceded it. It was followed by the MU100, which further expanded the sound set.

Great care was taken with the display interface in the MU series and the MU90R is no exception. Not only is it animated during the demo, each sound type displays its own icon and it is capable of playing animations if they are included in the incoming MIDI data."
