Synth Rorschach #25 - OMNI Reboot

via OMNI Reboot

I see a few things in this one. :) What do you see?

"HARVEY" 808 RACK MOUNT DRUM MACHINE

via this auction

The "Harvey" 808 is Studio Electronics' Roland TR-808 in a rack.

"Great condition studio electronics "harvey" 808. Super rare piece of rack mount studio equipment. Good luck finding one of these anywhere. A few very minor paint scratches and one color piece of a knob is missing. Not the knob just the color top piece. Recently had the power chord replaced."

Moog Sonic V Demo & Restoration Videos

Moog Sonic V Part I

Published on Jul 10, 2013 New England Analog LLC·16 videos

Not all parts of this series are up.  I'll let you know when they are.  The first video is a demo of the Moog Sonic V prior to the restoration.  The videos below are parts of the restoration.

"This is the first part in a 5 part series detailing the restoration of a rare Musonics Moog Sonic V. We begin by powering up the synthesizer and seeing what's wrong. We found that the keyboard mechanicals were in dire need of attention, and there is a lot of noise and intermittent behavior. There is also a high pitched whistle that can be heard even when the master volume is turned down.

For more info on this and other vintage synthesizers, synth restoration and repair, and sales of vintage keyboards, check out our website at www.NewEnglandAnalog.com."

Bitley™ Poly Ensemble ReFill Featuring the Korg Lambda

via Patrick Fridh on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"Presenting my latest work; the Poly Ensemble refill for Reason 7.

Poly Ensemble gives you expertly multisampled and looped sounds from the venerable Korg Lambda, utilizing all sorts of tricks and possibilities with Reason 7 without the need for extra rack extensions.

The Combinator graphics took us quite a while to design, making it possible for the user to experience even more than the original (1979) Lambda provides, by laying out all the 8 base sounds / sound types across the four knobs. It's then very easy to tweak it 'on the fly' while producing music. The button assignments have also been carefully done and the arpeggios are playing in different speeds and types to create really lush arpeggiated sounds.

The refill is now available as a preorder, and while it is cheaper than the final version, it will of course include the final update. The current revision is number three, and it comes with just about everything the final version will have, only that the final version will contain more patches. The current patch count is 132. The refill also contains a few drumkits to really make it like a complete "Poly Ensemble workstation".

Here's the brand new demo track, "Emotional".

The main core of the patch runs around the Richter NOISERING, FLAME Tame Machine (quantizer), and the XAOC MOSKWA Sequencer. The sound is generated by the Makenoise DPO, modulated and processed by the other modules."

Published on Apr 12, 2012 stexe·78 videos

"Behold my wrath: the bloodcurdling terror that is The Banshee Box. This uses a single Quad NAND Gate chip (retail cost: 30 cents). Its four oscillators are patched into each other, and controlled by the four knobs on the right. On the left is a volume slider. I built the case from tinted acrylic that was salvaged from a piece of discarded furniture. Most of the other parts were bought surplus, keeping the cost of this synth under four dollars."

See the seller's other items for more.

"A synth built around a Quad NAND Gate with four oscillators cascading into each other, and controlled by the four knobs on the right, from top to bottom. So the pitch is set by the top knob, then that goes into the oscillator below it to control filter cutoff, and so on. On the left is a volume slider. Case is built from 3/16" tinted acrylic that glows like mad under a black light. 1/8" audio out. toggle switch for power. Runs on a 9-volt battery (not included)."

Created a new stexe label for these.

Waldorf Rocket Monophonic Synthesizer - w/ Analog Filter, MIDI & Arpeggiator

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"No one expected this Rocket launch, which is in clear violation of several UN resolutions and basic laws of physics. Unlike conventional missiles, this one comes in a square shape and will be sold world-wide in complete ignorance of German governments exports restrictions.

It's incredible sound is much more louder than the legendary Saturn V engine, and never before has this been achieved with such an enormous fun factor. It features an analog multimode VCF with lowpass, bandpass, and highpass, resonance up to self oscillation and beyond, a powerful monophonic oscillator section with Ultra High Density Sawtooth and unison for chord play.

Furthermore equipped with a powerful Arpeggiator and a destructive Booster circuit, this Rocket is technologically way ahead of all current defense systems.

Rocket is an ideal fun sound design machine, which in combination with its extremely attractive price, will appeal to any sound designer and musician interested in quality sounds. It works as a stand-alone instrument or in any imaginable music production environment. But its most important feature is of course its sound: a real Waldorf synthesizer, powerful, direct and with a lot of love for the details. And of course, this Rocket is 100% Made in Germany - With Love!"

TipTop - Trigger Riot - Probability Percussion Patch

TipTop - Trigger Riot - Probability Percussion Patch from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"First experiment using the TipTop Trigger Riot sequencing euro rack module. The patch was setup up running in independent output mode. Each output was set to random valves based on a 32 step sequence. The idea was to create 8 regenerative output channels that would be then sent to the TipTop 808 BD, Snare, high hats, and clap. The outputs all have specific varying degrees of probability selected. Additional triggered voices from the Mutable Instruments Braids (Pads/Cloud Synthesis) and Edges (Noise output) running through the Synthesis Tech mini delay. Drum outputs summed into one intellijel mixer then sent to the MakeNoise Phonogene for light granular processing. This entire patch was sequenced on the Trigger Riot clocking at 198 BPM. Reverb swells courtesy of the Eventide space.

Dueling LFO's. AS Telemark-K S+H LFO with a Doepfer Dark Energy Triangle/Square LFO into the CVO1.

Published on Jul 9, 2013 Robert Shipe·18 videos

"Experimental LFO jam.

You're hearing this on a massive 60 Watt mono Peavey Synth-Amp and two pairs of studio monitors(Tannoy/M-Audio). I'm running my heavily patched out Analogue Solutions Telemark-K using it's own S+H (Sample and Hold) LFO and a Doepfer Dark Energy's LFO 1, a Triangle and Square LFO as well as it's Envelope Out into the Tele's VCA. The Doepfer's LFO is running into the Telemark's VCO 1. I'm sweeping the Lowpass Filter and tweaking the Pulse-Widths/PWMs, Envelope Generator 1/2, MOD Source, Key Control, Tune and other parameters. It's gets pretty nuts pretty quick. I had no idea what they were going to do together it came out pretty cool. Thing goes crazy!!!"

Dsi Mopho x4 for Auction with Mini Review

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"The mopho x4 is like a mopho on steroids. The presets really show off the power of this synth, the unison sounds can rip your head off. I prefer this over the prophet 08, i'd take a mopho x4 any day of the week over that synth. It does killer bass sounds, snappy envelopes. Killer resonance that sounds very 3d and wet unlike digital synths that sound flat and 2d. Analog is still the best for resonant and fat sounds. This is the perfect budget synth to get an analog to compliment a software or digital VA studio. It is not super moog fat, but it is fatter than most roland analogs. Pads are great, Bass is amazing, arps are amazing, the sound fx are great, the weird sequencer pattern modular like sounds are really cool as well. For soundscapes you cannot go wrong either. This is my favorite new Analog polysynth for sure.. I give this a 9 out of 10."

King Korg for Auction with Mini Review

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"I really liked the King Korg, and plan on buying one again when my finances permit. This OB filter on this thing is killer, for pads, and strings, and sweeps. Bass is good, the leads are amazing, and there is very little aliasing with this board. It is super easy to make sounds with, it also has very cool oscillator types and on some of them you can get great sync, cross mod and FM, it gets crazy, and sounds super sci fi and weird, or super pleasant and nice, or really aggressive and cutting. Korg really made an amazing synth here. It does sound a little bit better than the kronos's AL1 and ms2 and polysix. If you need a lead synth that can make amazing strings, it delivers the right oscillators and filters to cover most vintage synth sounds by far I prefer this over the Virus TI, Novation stuff, and Nord. The keyboard is nice and has great synth key action. I prefer it over the cheaper maudio controllers. In fact this is a great light board to gig with if you need analog sounds. The FX are really good actually and really easy to set up and use. The analog circuit over drive is really good for warming or making things really aggressive. The knobs are nice, feels well built and there is no stepping when you tweak the filter.. Very cool. I give this a 8 out of 10..."

MFB-Tanzbär Now Shipping

Click here for all posts on the MFB-Tanzbar including audio demos, pics, and videos from the Musikmesse. The following are the details from the MFB site including the price of 840 Euro which currently coverts to $1077.55.

"analogue drum-computer with tight step-sequencer and 16 instruments
immediate control, integration of MIDI and CV/Gate
different step-lengths per instrument
programmable accent- and pitch-bend-functions
144 patterns with A/B-variations, fill-function to chain various patterns
3 CV- and 2 Gate channels
roll- and flam-recording
individual and global swing-quantization
recording of control-value per step
12 individual outputs, stereo output
MIDI- and clock-sync, MIDI-dump
microshift-function via MIDI (future update)
metal chassis with wood side panels
MSRP: 840,- Euro

MFB's Tanzbär drum-computer offers fourteen analogue percussion instruments as well as a synthesizer for bass- and melodic voices. Its integrated step-sequencer allows flashlight-programming and storage of up to 144 patterns. All parameters can be recorded per step! Because of its ability to control and call up all functions on the fly, while the unit is running, Tanzbär is ideally suited for live performances.

Using the fill-function, patterns can be chained for longer sequences. In addition, every pattern offers A/B variations that can be switched manually or automatically for further flexibility. Also, Tanzbär allows saving 16 flame and roll-variations.

The step-length is controllable per instrument, allowing easy creation of polyrhythmic structures. Possible resolutions are 32th and 16th steps as well as 16th- and 8th triplet-steps. The shuffle amount can be continuously controlled globally and per instrument.

Each instrument offers three accent intensities. Add the bend-function to create glides and LFO-like sweeps for bass drum 1/2, snare drum and toms 2/3.

In addition to the percussion-instruments, Tanzbär offers addressing external instruments using its two CV/Gate outputs; one being able to control dynamics via a third CV-output. The same tracks are routed to the internal bass- and melody-synthesizer voices. An ideal solution to pre-listen and program patterns without any need for external equipment.

The CV/Gate-sequencer offers a range of three octaves and is programmable using two methods. All parameters are output via MIDI, allowing control of external instruments. The drum-computer can be synchronized via MIDI- and clock-signals.

An additional MIDI-input is available to control further functions, such as microshift (planned for future update). In addition, an editor is planned.

Finally, Tanzbär not only offers a master volume knob but individual level controls and mute-functions per instrument. The unit provides a stereo output as well as twelve individual outputs.

Instrument parameters:
Bassdrum 1: Decay, Pitch, Pitch Modulation, Transient Level, Transient Type, Noise Level, Noise Filter, Distortion
Bassdrum 2: Decay, Pitch, Transient Level
Snare: Pitch, Detune, Noise Level, Noise Decay, Blend Tone 1/2, Decay, Tone Pitch
Rimshot: Pitch
Cymbal: Decay, Tone, Blend Ping/Cymbal
Open Hihat: Decay, Tone
Closed Hihat: Decay, Tone
Claves: Decay, Pitch
Claps (Stereo): Decay, Reverb Length, Clap Intensity, Clap-Number/Pattern
Low Tom/Conga: Decay, Pitch, Noise Level
Mid Tom/Conga: Decay, Pitch, Noise Level
Hi Tom/Conga: Decay, Pitch, Noise Level
Cowbell: Decay, Pitch
Maracas: Decay
Bassline: Filter, Pitch
Melody: Pitch

Additional functions planned for possible future updates."

100% Beaterator too - Royalty Free Electronica - Week 5

Published on Jul 10, 2013 ChrisLody·62 videos

"This track was created with Beaterator for PSP and Playstation Vita. I've been getting to know it a little more while making this track. Beaterator can export and import samples so by using the built in synth you can build a sound, render it and load it back in as a sample to free up polyphony. It even supports stereo samples. That's how the string sounds were created in this video.

Right, so here's the idea. Trying to write, upload and give away a fresh piece of music on a roughly weekly basis. Will i be able to keep it up? Will i run out of ideas? Can i be bothered? How shoddy will they be? Does anybody care? God knows. But that's the point.

Basically the idea is to flex my musical muscles a bit. I have collected quite a bit of gear over the years and not much of it is getting used as much as i'd like, so this is my attempt to justify all those purchases whilst practising improving and getting ideas down fast as an antidote to procrastination. "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." as Picasso once said.

Royalty free for you to use for whatever under the creative commons license. Just rip the audio out of the video for now, i'll get these tracks uploaded to a dropbox account when i get my act together. Let me know if you use it, i'd be stoked."

The graphic design reminds me of white Yamaha.

via this auction

"I`m offering for sale this vintage soviet delay\reverb\chorus effects processor "PX-1100". It was produced on the "Estradin" factory in 1992, famous for its very qualitative professional studio/concert equipment. One of the last of its stock, while the factory suspended the productions right before the fall of the USSR. It was highly sought-after for versatile functionality & amazing sound. The device has solid construction of a rack size.

The front panel has knobs: Input, Repeat, Echo, Timbre, Ballance, Volume, Delay, Frequency
Buttons: Bypass, Chorus, Hall, Reverb, Memory, 1/0,25

The item has cool pitch modulation function, also the "memory" button produces interesting sampler-like "stuttering" effect. The audio input\outputs are standard TRS 1\4 jacks. Also there is a 1/4 TRS "pedal" socket for connection to pedal or switch. PX-1100 signal processor produces sound that differs from well-known western processor brands. Unit sounds really fantastic - very wide and clean set of effects like delay-reverb-flanger-chorus! (check the Demo section). The mains power of the unit is 220 volts. For 110v countries I`ll include voltage converter. The unit is fully tested & is in ideal 100% working condition."

Pittsburgh Modular Cell[48] System 1 Introduction Video

Published on Jul 9, 2013 Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers·11 videos

http://pittsburghmodular.com/cell-48-...

"The Cell [48] System 1 is a complete single voice, analog synthesizer and a great entry point into modular synthesis. Using the Synthesizer Block module as it's centerpiece, the System 1 contains all of the most important components of a modular synthesizer. Connected internally, the Cell[48] System 1 is hardwired to create a complete monophonic synthesizer without needing to add patch cables. However, each major component within the System 1 is fully patchable and can function independent to the rest of the system by using the available patch points and included patch cables."

Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizer Block Introduction Video

Published on Jul 9, 2013

http://pittsburghmodular.com/synthesi...

"Wired for instant access to classic tones without needing a single patch cable, the Synthesizer Block is a complete semi-modular, monophonic synthesizer. The Synthesizer Block is 100% analog and 100% Eurorack compatible with a complete set of patch points able to override the internal audio and CV signal path.

The Synthesizer Block was designed to be the core of any modular system. Each major component is fully patchable and can function independent to the rest of the module. This allows the functionality of the Oscillator, Filter, LFO, Envelope Generator, and VCA to be broken apart and used like standalone modules."
