ROLAND RELEASES FREE AIRA CUSTOMIZER APP AND TWO NEW AIRA SOFTWARE PRODUCTS

"Summer NAMM Show, Nashville, TN, July 8, 2015 — Roland (Booth #924) has expanded its popular line of AIRA products with a new FREE customizer app and two software synths that offer flexible options and infinite music creation possibilities that further blur the lines between software and hardware.

The AIRA Modular Customizer app lets AIRA users fully re-program the internal signal path of AIRA Modular effects units (compatible with TORCIDO, BITRAZER, DEMORA and SCOOPER effects). The app’s array of virtual, re-patchable sub-modules offers complete control of each effect’s signal path, for full user customization. For added flexibility, patches can also be saved and recalled in real time, and shared with other AIRA Modular effect users.

There are currently 15 virtual sub-modules, with more available in the near future. They include: LFO, ADSR, NOISE, SAMPLE & HOLD, RING MOD, FILTER 6 dB, FILTER 12 dB, TONE, AMP, MIXER, STEREO MIXER, CURVE CONV, GATE DIVIDER, TRIG TO CV DELAY TIME, and MIDI CLOCK TO GATE. Musicians can use them to easily customize the signal path of their AIRA effect by connecting the headphone jack of their smartphone or tablet to the REMOTE IN jack on any AIRA modular effect module. Alternatively, users can connect via USB to MAC or PC for realtime control.

The AIRA Modular Customizer app is iOS / Android / Mac OS X / Windows compatible, and is now available for free download. Please visit http://www.rolandus.com/products/aira_modular_customizer/ for full details, download links, and OS compatibility information.

Two new AIRA soft synths are debuting on July 8: the SH-101 PLUG-OUT Software Synthesizer, and the SYSTEM-1 Software Synthesizer with Librarian.

Like its hardware counterpart, the new SH-101 PLUG-OUT Software Synthesizer is a complete and authentic reproduction of Roland’s iconic SH-101 monophonic synth from the 1980s, right down to the fine details and odd quirks that make it one of the most popular classic synthesizers of all time. Based on Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, the new soft synth version not only reproduces the original SH-101’s legendary sounds, but faithfully recreates the very behavior of its analog circuitry. Included are classic SH-101 synth sounds—bass, lead, noise, and sound effects, plus reverb, chorus, delay and crusher effects that were not included in the original.

The SYSTEM-1 Software Synthesizer with Librarian features many of the same functions as the hardware SYSTEM-1/1m version. It offers the same sound quality as its hardware counterpart, making it ideal for musicians who either work solely in the software world, or who are considering the hardware version and would like to audition it first. In addition, based on popular user request from the hardware version, the Librarian software has been expanded to now include 64 patches.

Both synths are available for purchase via download; a free trial version is also available. In addition, the Librarian software for SYSTEM-1 is available for free to registered SYSTEM-1/1m owners.

via the seller: "Vintage Roland RS202 Strings & Brass Synthesizer. The vinyl covering is slightly worn but the front panel is very good and it's in excellent working condition. Complete with original music stand, which stows away neatly in the lid of the case. The original hinged cover on the bottom which houses the mains cable, was missing when I bought it, so I had a stainless steel one made and it does the job well. I've owned this for about 5 years and it's briefly toured with Peter Hook and The Light (see last pic), before I found an Arp Omni."

nonlinearcircuits BOOLs

Published on Jun 19, 2015 cirtcele

"This module is like a hybrid between the NLC quad logic module and the Sauce of Unce. There are 4 inputs driving chained logic gates (you can choose what logic you want - OR, NOR, AND, NAND, XOR or XNOR by the chip installed). There are 4 gate outputs giving the boolean logic result of the signals on inputs 1&2, 2&3, 3&4 and 4&1. A resistor ladder network gives the stepped output based on what these 4 outputs are doing. From this a S&H circuit with a slew processor gives a smooth output."

BOOLs 3

via nonlinearcircuits

"These are nice. The inputs can be any signal crossing 1V. The logic outputs give 5V gates that are all related to each other as made up of different input combinations. The S&H input can be a trigger, gate or CV. The stepped and slewed outputs an be very similar to what comes out of the Sauce of Unce or Buchla 265 SOU. The ICs are all thru-hole, resistors can be 1206 or 0805 smd. Pretty easy build, has 4 LEDs for blinkenlights.
Using different logic chips gives you some pretty different behaviour so it is worth having more than one of these. The XOR/XNOR chips cn be used as crude ring modulators at audio frequencies.

This is a great module for just patching in any spare outputs from LFOs, sequencers, ADSRs, etc and generating a whole bunch of gates and CVs that are sync'd with everything else going on in your patch.

Moog sub 37 and Waldorf Striechfett doodle: RECOVERY

Published on Jul 8, 2015 Howard Forton

"Recorded using a tascam portastudio. A basic idea while recovering from knee operation, ran out of patience teetering on the stool with my knee starting to swell. :-) I should have spent more time mixing the master tracks and putting a better polish on it. Also used a tc electronics M350 for the reverb and delay. 3 moog tracks. 1 waldorf track. Great fun which is what its all about for me. I love both the synths used here. Still cant decide on a decent drum machine though. Hated the korg volcabeats. Miss my Alesis SR18 which you can here on some of my older doodles."
