Over-current protection: shuts off each power rail automatically if modules use too much current on that rail
Noise filtering capacitors to help minimize module to module noise
Ten 16-pin Eurorack power connections, keyed for safety
Molex connector for daisy chaining Synthrotek distribution/bus boards
Screw clamp headers for power entry wiring
Multiple power options to fit your needs and budget:

Roland SH7 controlled by the Q960 step sequencer

Published on Dec 8, 2016 Magnus Gladén

"Hooked up the Roland SH7 to the Synthesizers.com Q960 Sequential Controller. I use the Club Of The Knobs C 958 Dual Quantizer to quantize the CV output from the Q960. Works pretty well but you have to boost the gate signal using in my case the Q125 Signal Processor. The Q960 also trigger the Q173 Gate Math which control the rate of the Q167 LFO++. The output if the Q167 is sent to the SH7’s pedal input to modulate the cut off a bit."

The next interview in the Dave Smith Instruments' "In The Spotlight with the Prophet-6" series is currently up with Karina DePiano here.

"Karina DePiano is a Los Angeles-based pop keyboardist and musical director. She currently performs with Troye Sivan. She spent the latter half of 2015 touring the U.S. and Asia with Rita Ora. In 2014, Karina toured with Bad Things, a band that boasts double-Olympian Shaun White as one of its guitarists. The band supported Phantogram in the southeastern U.S. and Thirty Seconds To Mars in Romania, Russia, Estonia, and France. In June of 2014, Karina was the musical director for vocalist Tricia Tahara-Stoller for a show at the Catalina Jazz Club that featured Ndugu Chancler, Alphonso Johnson, and Patrice Rushen. Karina has also recently performed with pop act Megan Nicole, the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra, and at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. New 2016 Vako Orchestron Disc - DREHORGEL Released

Uploaded on Oct 25, 2016 optigandotcom

"Now taking pre-orders! Place your order at http://optigan.com/shoptigan/new-opti...

A new release in our line of Vako Orchestron discs, DREHORGEL. It's unlikely that there will be sufficient demand to do a second run of 25 of these discs, so your best bet is to buy as many of these as you need while you can!

DREHORGEL is a newly recorded sound for the Orchestron. It's a small, hand-cranked street organ that plays punched music rolls, similar to a calliope. The drehorgel featured here is owned by Pat Quilter of Quilter Labs. For our disc, we chose the unique "trill" sound of the drehorgel, which produces repeated notes. Great for playing creepy circus type music!

PLEASE NOTE: This disc WILL NOT play properly in an Optigan! They WILL play, but the sounds will NOT be mapped correctly to the keyboard- they will be mapped mostly haphazardly across the chord buttons. Please don't order this disc expecting to easily use it in an Optigan. In the future we will be porting the Orchestron sounds to the Optigan- please be patient! :)

Stay tuned for more Orchestron discs, both new and remastered titles!"

REON "System 55" Modular Spotted

You might remember back in July 2015 REON unveiled their M-System C1 modular synthesizer in Moog/dotcom format which consisted of 3 VCOs, 3 VCFs, 2 VCAs, 2 ENVs, 1 LFO and 2 Mixers.

Take a look at the image to the left from Japan's Musical Instruments Fair. Click on it and zoom in. BOTH systems are REON. At first I thought the top was the M-System C1 (with an added step sequencer on the top left) sitting on top of a Moog System 55. It turns out the bottom is made from REON modules as well.

Below is a video of an M-System with sequencer from RockoNCompany.

Polivoks Clone Limited to 100 Units & A Note From Creators Alex Pleninger & Alexey Taber

The new Polivoks clone from Alex Pleninger is now available for order, and for auction on the official site for the new synth. The units will be limited to 100 units. The starting price if you go the auction route? $1850. The buy it now price? A whopping $4000. Before you blame the creators Alex Pleninger and Alexey Taber, Pleninger asked me to post the following for them. BTW, it's worth noting $1850 for a brand new Polivoks is only slightly more than just half of a new Minmoog Model D, and that's for a limited run of only 100 synths. The $4000 BIN is a cap to ensure it does not cost anyone more than that, so technically they are limiting themselves, not the buyer. If it were auction only, the price could theoretically go above that and technically there is nothing forcing the price to hit $4k.

via Alex:

"Hello everybody,

Many of you could already hear that our Polivoks' first and only run is on auction now.

Do believe, this decision is not ours and has no connection with us at all.

Anyway, we are still very proud of what we've done - the synthesizer promises to take it's humble place in history, at least we hope so :)

Thanks to everybody for supporting us and for kind words!

Sincerely yours

Alex Pleninger and Alexey Taber"

It's rare that we see a message like this, so thanks to Alex for sending this in. One thing to consider, is the number of units is limited to 100 so the high price will make the decision for many to skip one easier. Not to mention, there are still originals out there.

"Great VCO synth, can play 6 notes at a time or the 6 oscillators can be stacked to make a mono sound or different sounds on each OSC.
Uses Curtis chips for the oscillators and the filter is nice.

i have upgraded the Operation system to a custom firmware v1.3, this was made by Kristofer Maad

The new Firmware allows the control via MIDI of all the parameters within the synth, a good upgrade as the Cheetah natively only receives Note and pitch change, i have the OS that came with it also.

This synth is in nice condition and fully functional with box and instructions."

"Up for sale is the amazing Roland JD800. This synth is fully functional and is in great shape overall. All keys, velocity/aftertouch, sliders, knob encoders and buttons are working beautifully, this is a solid synth. There are a few trivial cosmetic blemishes found that are shown in the pictures which I took using the sunlight to accentuate. No major cracks or issues to note, it's solidly assembled with all hardware installed and rubber feet present. The JD keys are in excellent shape, no red glue issues, great felt and aftertouch sensor plus the robust one piece contact board. Although one key is slightly whiter than the others since it was replaced. The sound is out of this world, definitely one of my favorites which is why I have three and am scaling down. Included with the synth are two rare and complete ROM sets, the Standard and the Rock drums as well as the power cord."

"The unit appears to be working fine, all the keys and knobs and sliders producing sound and working well to the best of my knowledge. I noticed some of the preset buttons have slight bad contacts, especially the CLAVICHORD button needs to be held pressed in certain angle to make it respond. It should probably do with some servicing or adjustment with the contacts inside."

"Huge bass, leads, effects, with cool cross mod section that only a Pro One has. Similar to the P5 but has it's own unique sound. This Pro One is fully functional & in excellent cosmetic condition for it's age, J-wire keyboard and has the MTG Turbo CPU & MIDI retrofit fitted which turns it into a beast and integrates perfectly with any computer / midi based set-up. Really nice clean shape on the front, overall quite clean. Don't miss out on this monophonic analog classic!"
