XAOC Devices Kamieniec Demo

Published on Dec 20, 2016 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The XAOC Devices Kamieniec is an analog phase shifter inspired by classic 1970s OTA-based phaser designs, but optimized for use within the Eurorack modular ecosystem. Featuring four variable phase stages and two fixed stages, the Kamieniec offers extended control of a traditional phaser topology, for everything from simple notch filtering to intense seasick outer space frequency sweeps."

"For those not familiar, this synth is a bit unlike any other that were or are currently on the market. It is a sort of combo physical modeling synth, where ROM driven sounds can be forced through various resonance modules and modeled into some truly otherworldy sounds. Anything from trance to dance and earthy to obscure..."

"The Yamaha TG33 is a 32-voice programmable synthesizer module featuring AWM and FM synthesis under vector control. Many automatic vector ("dynamic vector") patches are offered in the presets, but the vector control joystick on this module allows real time manipulation of vector level and detune, allowing the user a high degree of expression. There are two preset banks of sounds, plus an Internal and a Multi bank, and the option of adding RAM cards for even more patch storage.
The TG33 is a fairly compact synth, and can be set up as a desktop module, or mounted in a rack with the included rack ears. On the MIDI side, in, out and thru are offered. There are two sets of stereo outputs to add your own effects on mix-down, but the unit also includes 16 types of digital effects on board.

"Pattern Download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4d3...

Hello everyone!
I have created this cover of 'Flim' original theme of Aphex Twin. For this I have used a Korg Electribe2 groovebox and I have left the patterns available for download completely free.
I hope you enjoy.

Advise: This cover and the patterns I share for free are solely instructive to show how some rhythmic patterns can be achieved by using this topic in an instructive way, the rights to this work belong to Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin.

Merry Christmas!"

Steady State Fate / Erogenous Tones - Gatestorm

Published on Dec 20, 2016 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Gatestorm is a complex gate generator from Steady State Fate, in collaboration with Erogenous Tones. The most striking element of this module is the heavily detailed LCD monitor screen. It may look complicated at first glance, but the User Interface is meant to be fast and straight forward, providing all the useful information for monitoring a complex machine. Once the few parameters are understood, their visual counterpoints should become clear. At its core, the Gatestorm is an 8 channel Gate sequencer that can be used as a master clock with tap tempo, or can be clocked by external gates for synchronization. Each of the eight tracks can be independently programmed, each with their own randomizers and logic lanes. There are six CV inputs, which are able to be assigned to any function within the Gatestorm. Along with this are six trigger inputs either for synchronization or any other use of triggers, which are also assignable. Each track is easily accessible with the various buttons on the panel, with very limited menu diving (hence the packed UI). The Gatestorm is meant to be a quick and intuitive performance instrument, for ease of variation and playability. As a master clock, one can route many triggers out to control an entire modular system."

Custom Korg Sigma KP-30 with Remote Keyboard

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

The following is translated from Google Translate: "Here is a somewhat unconventional cult synthesizer from Korg, the Sigma KP-30. We got it as gift as the photos show it is not in the original state! The original control panel with an aftertouch keyboard and some control elements (for example two joysticks) is no longer available, but a hobbyist obviously has a spare keyboard installed. This is missing the aftertouch function, but otherwise the instrument can easily play with it. All existing keys, switches and buttons perform their function properly. All instruments / effects of the main module are playable and variable. You can also create quite unusual and sometimes very nice slanting sounds. Either it can be used as a stand-alone device, with the stated restrictions, or as an extensive spare parts store for existing models. A printed service manual (from a scanned PDF file) is included."

You can find some discussion in German on sequencer.de (Googlish here).

Dave Smith Instruments "In The Spotlight with the OB-6" with Body in the Thames

The next in Dave Smith Instruments' "In the Spotlight with the OB-6" is up with Body in the Thames here.

"Born in Manchester, lived 8 years in London, 2 years in Paris and now 13 years in Stockholm, Body in the Thames is quite the journeyman. From composing jingles for Microsoft CD-ROMs, to soundtracking Haute-Couture catwalk shows to playing in stoner rock garage bands with (then) future stars, to being a multi-instrumentalist on tour with well-established international stars, he is an artist who has been around the block enough times that he doesn’t need to namedrop any more.

Now a little older and more of a studiohead, he has spent the last few years in an actual former cold-war nuclear bunker under the Stockholm streets, crafting and releasing electronic explorations that cover a fairly broad range of genres and sub-genres which are mainly instrumental and 'aimed at the dancefloor between your ears.'"

New PC-2 Clone - Analog Percussion Synthesizer from midierror

Published on Dec 20, 2016 midierror

"A little demo of the analog Percussion Synth from sxityfourpixels! Available as a kit here: https://www.tindie.com/products/hotch...

Triggered by a built in Piezo, or by external CV. Space on the PCB for mods...and a eurorack version on the way!"

Details:

"A clone of the Boss PC-2 / Amdek PCK-100 for bleeps and bloops galore!

PCLONE2 is a recreation of the (now rare) PC-2 percussion synthesizer which was made by Boss during the 1980s (and also released in DIY kit form under the Amdek brand name as the PCK-100)

The PCLONE2 kit is based on the original schematic (with a couple of changes due to the scarcity of some now obsolete components).

The kit includes all the parts neccessary for the build; printed circuit board, electronic components, wire for internal connections, potentiometers, knobs, switches, sockets, fitting screws etc. It includes a custom designed, laser-cut, case (made from 3mm acrylic sheet with 5mm acrylic side cheeks) and a laser etched acrylic laminate fascia.

Assembly by soldering is required! I would describe this as an intermediate complexity kit for experienced solderers, if you are a novice I would recommend getting some experience on simpler kits before you build this one.

This is a completely analog synthesizer with a single VCO. There is a pitch sweep function, a decay envelope and an LFO with rate, depth and wave shape (triangle/square) control. Unusually for a percussion synth there is no noise source, but you'll soon realise this isn't your typical percussion synth!

Sounds are triggered by an input pulse (5V-9V works fine) or by tapping on a piezo sensor which is mounted behind a pad on the front panel.

There are three unconnected 3.5mm sockets labelled CV1, CV2, CV3. These, together with a prototyping area on the PCB, are to make the box easily mod-able. I will be documenting some simple mods I have already found (including a pitch CV input using a single resistor), and plan to get a growing list of mods together.

The box has the following controls:

TRIG LEVEL - Sets the sensitivity of the trigger input. The voice circuit responds differently depending on the intensity of the trigger pulse (this is especially nice when tapping it with a finger). The TRIG LEVEL knob controls this response.

PITCH - Sets the basic pitch of the oscillator. This works alongside the SWEEP controls.

DECAY - Controls the decay of the volume envelope (so how long the sound takes to fade out after it is triggered) and also controls the sweep time. Sweep, pitch and decay interact in ways that reward experimentation.

The OP-1 is the brain, controlling time and FX. All the percussion was done with the OP-1 as well. That gets routed to the Axoloti, providing a wealth of different FX mapped to the Nanokontrol. All the synth sounds were created and sequenced in Reaktor 6 and sampled into the OP-1."

It is in good condition having some tape residue left from where the logo "OBX" (on top) and "Oberheim" (back) were taped for a gig, at some point it was subjected to heat because a few of the upper octave black keys have apparently melted some. I am the second owner having bought it from a man named Virgil Weber who bought it new and used it in a Lake Tahoe show for Laura Brannigan. It also comes with an anvil case, and although the case has no padding inside, it reads the words "Obx Laura Branningan" therefore confirming the fact that it was in fact used in the show. This keyboard functions as it should and has been more stable than the OB8 I used to have!"
