"Ultra rare Korean-made clone of the Roland SVC-350 vocoder. I saw one for sale 25 years ago and thought I imagined it. Compared it to a buddy's SVC-350 I could probably not tell the sound apart in a blind test. Roland maybe 5% more mid-range, could just be standard variance in analog units, this one a bit warmer. Case in fair shape for it's age, probably has been serviced as mic jack looks different. Sliders and pots have zero crackling/noise when moved, frequency faders glide smoothly, each works. I have tested and used every feature fully

-Hold jack (creates mini-loop when pedal depressed)
-vocoder/direct (switches from your voice to vocoded voice, or to synth, depending on where the balance knob is positioned
-ensemble mode (pans frequency bands left/right alternatingly for a rich shimmery stereo sound.
-harmonics knob (increases harmonic content in rich sounds like saw/square waves, I linked to a youtube video SVC-350 FM Synthesis that demos this
-all inputs/outputs/gain selectors fully functional."

Key Control Updated with New Scales

Map your MIDI controller to a given Scale and Key

Keep your keys 'In Key!'

Artificial Noise is excited to announce a new update to the Key Control, a MIDI device that maps your keyboard controller or synthesizer to a chosen Key and Scale. New scales have been added including; Blues, both Major and Minor Pentatonic and Augmented!

The Key Control is a unique MIDI device that will transform your MIDI controller or synthesizer to output only notes and chords within a given Key and Scale. The white keys will play all the notes in the desired Key & Scale (removing all unused notes), while the black keys will play chords within the Key & Scale. Choose between 11 scales and all 12 keys.

Simply hook up the Key Control between your keyboard controller and your desired MIDI destination (computer, synthesizer, sequencer, etc) via standard 5-Pin MIDI DIN cables. Or put your synthesizer in "Local OFF" mode and send the MIDI out from your synth through the Key Control and back into the synth, to always play 'in key.'

With a fast and easy 2 knob interface, you can quickly dial in one of a possible 132 possible key and scale combinations and get down to making music fast and with no fuss.

Rob Papen Vecto Released as AAX/AU/VST Compatible Virtual Instrument

Published on Feb 18, 2019 Rob Papen

"Rob Papen (re)boots Vecto virtual synthesizer into wider (DAW) world as an AAX-, AU-, and VST-compatible VI version

ECHT, THE NETHERLANDS: by popular demand, virtual instrument and effect plug-in developer Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware is proud to announce availability of an AAX-, AU-, and VST-compatible version of Vecto — previously only available as a Rack Extension (RE) for Swedish innovative music software applications, interfaces, and technology standards company Propellerhead Software’s revolutionary Reason — as a 32- and 64-bit Virtual Instrument (VI) synthesizer plug-in for Mac (OS X 10.8 - MacOS 10.14) and Windows (Vista, 7, 8, and 10), as of February 19…

Rob Papen’s popular Vecto was originally created as an RE for Propellerhead’s proprietary Reason platform back in 2015. However, Rob Papen has since received many requests asking if this product could also be made available for other platforms, as attested to by Rob Papen himself: “By popular demand, we’ve now also created it as a VST, AudioUnit, and AAX version.”

Never let it be said that Rob Papen does not collectively listen to feedback from its valued customers! Clearly, the company believes in adding value to its products. “From the start, it already has over 1,000 presets,” reveals Rob Papen, before adding: “It’s a great synthesizer for ambient music, pad sounds, and synthesizer sounds, but the good news is that Vecto is also part of the eXplorer 5 bundle.”

RNA VCS3 Repair & Mods

Premiered 2 hours ago Really Nice Audio

Playlist:

1. VCS3 Repair & Mods Part 1
A dead VCS3 hits the bench. What could have caused this nasty chain reaction?
2. VCS3 Repair & Mods Part 2
In this episode we repair the blown MFC6070 by replacing it with the MFC234 from
http://www.portabellabz.be/synthipcbs...
This replaces the unobtainium part and swaps it for the more 'sought after' germanium transistor design.

All synth sounds are direct recorded examples of this VCS3.
3. VCS3 Repair & Mods Part 3
In this video we continue with the addition of Buffers for the Pin Matrix. This allows for accurate splitting of CV's.
This video will demonstrate the before and after effects of adding these buffers.
The PCB's are available from
http://www.portabellabz.be/synthipcbs...
4. VCS3 Repair & Mods Part 4
In this final part we add a Sample and hold modification from the fantastic http://www.portabellabz.be
The sample and hold modification (which comes pre built) can be found here
http://www.portabellabz.be/kits.html
After which we try out the VSC 3 as a Paraphonic synth utilising the previously installed Channel 3 input. Silent way Voice Controller was used to control its polyphony.

"Hi, my name is Alison, this is my story about finally connecting with my dad through a synthesizer from the late '70s. I know it’s weird, stay with me…

When I was 23, I began working for Grace Potter as a tour assistant. Grace is my hero and one of the most talented humans I’ve ever met. Over the years of touring and being around musicians constantly, it would come up in conversation that my dad invented a synth, but I didn't know anything else about it - I truly didn't even really understand what a synthesizer was. Eventually when we had a few weeks off tour in 2014, I flew to Indiana to get it.

Original Nord Lead Virtual Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer SN 511344

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The Nord Lead is a series of virtual analog subtractive synthesizers, manufactured by Clavia. This synthesizer was released in 1995, it's the original Nord Lead (not the 2, 3 or 4). This is the one that made the term virtual analog synthesis popular.

This synth is different from synthesizers constructed via analog components, the Nord Lead uses digital signal processors (DSPs) programmed to emulate both Subtractive and analog FM synthesis (cross-modulation) to reproduce the warmth and richness of a traditional analog sound. The Nord Lead is also unusual for being covered in knobs, which gives the player direct access to all sound parameters without having to walk through editing menus. The Nord Lead supports four notes of polyphony and can be expanded to twelve via an expansion board."

Transistor-82 Lo-Fi Analog Percussion Synthesizer Test (in progress)

Published on Feb 19, 2019 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2019

You may remember my discontinued Transistor-80,
it was a retro analog percussion Eurorack module.
Simple, quirky, fun. But it just begged for more.
I've been working on an advanced version, today I am giving a sneak preview.
I'm calling it the Transistor-82.
It's been a long time coming, testing sessions have been well...
...quite addictive!

The Transistor-82 will have all different circuitry compared to the predecessor.
But retains that special early 80s Lo-Fi Synsonics / Cynare / Drumfire vibe.
Along with many proper drum synthesis controls.
And welcome additions including CV input control over many parameters.
More will be announced soon as progress and design concludes.

WARNING - loud analog percussion chirps bleeps chaos, watch your levels!
Trigger shots coming from Varigate4.
CV modulations from S/H and Batumi LFOs.
Audio recorded direct to Tascam DR-05, no effects. None.

Check out my Eurorack modules currently available in my Reverb store.

4ms Listen Modules & Battery Powered Pod Setup

Published on Feb 19, 2019 4mspedals

"Create a small but ultra flexible system for music production using Pods and Listen modules from 4ms Company.
The Listen IO module is your interface between Eurorack and external gear. Here we use the Listen IO to connect a KORG Volca Beats and Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator into our Eurorack system made of two Pod32's and a Pod20. Two headphone jacks on the Listen IO let you and a friend listen along in stereo.
At the end of the signal chain is a Listen Four, which mixes up to four signals in stereo and outputs to headphones and line level. A bigger version of the Listen Four is the Listen Four Quarters, which has 1/4" (6.35mm) balanced TRS outputs.

The entire setup is being powered directly from a Krisdonia laptop battery using our standard DC barrel cables, and offers hours of continuous low-noise use."

Listen Four

The Listen Four is a four channel stereo mixer with line, modular, and headphone outputs. Two mono channels with Pan knobs and two stereo channels with dual inputs provide optimal compatibility with both stereo and mono signals. The Listen Four can be daisy-chained to other Listen modules to create a larger mixer with sub-mix outputs.

Make Noise QPAS // Quad Peak Animation System & Stereo Eurorack Filter

Published on Feb 19, 2019 DivKidVideo

"**TIMING INDEX / SECTIONS BELOW** So here's "the ultimate guide to QPAS" ... a mega tutorial, uber overview or any other silly name you'd like to title this with. Silliness aside, the QPAS has been great offering a lot of stereo filter tones with the quad filter cores and simple controls for a wide range of animation. The tone of the filter is hard to pin down as Tony of Make Noise designed the core (rather than cloning an old one) for the filter and the option to saturate the input VCA stage provides further tonal options. I hope this video is useful for currently QPAS owners, potential QPAS owners but more importantly I hope the video serves to demonstrate tchniques and provide ideas for any modules you own. I always try to make these useful for those with or without the module.

Noir Et Blanc Vie: Sorry Arturia Micro Freak - A NON-Review lol

"*Keep in mind what the word 'Subjection Opinion' means while watching this video, this will help triggered folk cope with what I'm about to say haha*

Since you all know companies don't run this channel, I do, which is why I say what I like. I know this video will be unpopular to the fanboys, but I could care less as I was actually looking forward to the MicroFreak, unfortunately I'm a little disappointed synths seem to be moving away from players who need the tactile traditional keybed for performances. Anyways, here are my thoughts, those who can't understand the meaning of the word subjective will dislike this video and comment I'm dumb, but that's what's fun about all this hahaahah"

Moog Voyager Baby Scratch

"I made this patch after seeing the Moogist's Voyager scratch video: [below]

This patch is as close to a real record scratch as I've heard from a Moog. This video simply shows the Voyagers versatility. I used a vanilla beat for this because anything more complicated made it difficult to hear the Voyagers pseudo squelchy record scratching.

Here's the patch: http://www.artistserver.com/m2/3611/1..."

How to "MOOG SCRATCH"

Published on Aug 13, 2009 t i m t s a n g // 円相 co.

"How does Moogist do his crazy awesome Moog Scratch sound?
Here are the 7 steps:

Step 1 - Turn on Oscillator 1. Use the 8' octave setting.
Step 2 - Select the sawtooth wave setting.
Step 3 - Add Oscillator 2 to the mix. Also use the 8' octave setting.
Step 4 - Add "1-2 SYNC" for more grit to the sound.
Step 5 - Add Oscillator 3 to the mix.
Step 6 - Turn on the "Glide" function to enable the smooth sliding sound.
Step 7 - Extend the "Attack" time (turn the knob to a greater value) of the "Filter Envelope" Section. This will enable the sound to not be attacked straight on but instead each note will have a sliding effect going into it before it reaches the actual pitch at the peak. (Make sure to set your "Mod Wheel Destination" to "Pitch")
