G-Storm Electro 4023 VCF Eurorack Filter First Look ARP Odyssey MK1 Adaptation [Demo #1]

Published on Apr 8, 2019 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c.2019

The 4023 VCF is a Eurorack filter adaptation of the MKI ARP Odyssey synthesizers that boasted the colorful 4023 module. Don’t be fooled by this early 2-pole 70s design, it retains bass power at higher resonance very well, and can self-oscillate with a robust sine wave when you top out the Resonance. Audio recorded direct to Tascam DR-05, no effects.

Oscillators: Behringer Model D
Envelope: G-Storm 2xADSR
VCA: G-Storm 2xVCA
sequencing: Beatstep Pro"

"The 4023 VCF is a no-compromises Eurorack filter adaptation of the MKI ARP Odyssey synthesizers that boasted the colorful 4023 module. Slim. 8HP. Elegant beauty. Don’t be fooled by this early 2-pole 70s design, it retains bass power at higher resonance very well, and can self-oscillate with a robust sine wave when you top out the Resonance.

This 4023 VCF adaptation as close to the original as possible including Rochester re-issue CA3080 OTAs struck from the Intersil masks, matched discrete TO-92 transistors, 2N5459 FETs, a temperature compensation resistor for frequency stability, and six 20mm Alpha slide potentiometers inspired by look of the original. Per usual, when the input sliders are above 75% it will overdrive the filter input for some lovely saturation. 4023 VCF has the classic ARP vibe you’re seeking in spades."

A shadow that glows harder than the sun | Modular in the cave 11 ambient jam on a boat outdoor euro

Modular on a boat.

"A little jam on the boat leaving Ustica. Many things have been said about this island. The greeks called it Osteodes, cause a lot of mercenaries bones, starved to death, are said to be found here. Some others, like storyograph L.G. Pocock and writer Marco Carlo Rognoni, believe this to be Eea, the island of circes ( but i don´t agree, just like with the theory of Samuel Butler about the odissey taking place in the aegadian islands). The only certain thing is that this island and his volcanoes are more ancient and wise than any man who put their foot on it. Yes, even wiser than Gramsci."

CHVRCHES | Wonderland | Moog Sound Lab

Published on Apr 8, 2019 Moog Music Inc

"Glasgow synth-pop outfit CHVRCHES give a rare live performance of 'Wonderland' in the Moog Sound Lab. 'This is one of the few songs from the new album that we haven’t played live in any context and we wanted to do something special for the MSL performance...', says Chvrches front woman Lauren Mayberry. 'I think this will probably be the only place a live version of Wonderland will exist…'

Chvrches synthesize their re-imaging of 'Wonderland' using a Moog One, Subsequent 37, and DFAM – composing the spontaneous analog arrangement on the spot in the Moog Sound Lab."

New MFB 301 PRO

pitches, note lengths and attacks, controllable by MIDI CC
MIDI-velocity available for all instruments
controllable and programmable from MFB Tanzmaus
MSRP: 149.- EUR

The MFB-301 Pro drum computer is a modern version of our classic MFB-301. It offers eight analog drum- and percussion-instruments which are based upon the original circuits being used in the MFB-301 and the clap-module MFB-401. However, the circuits have been further refined for the Pro-version.

The MFB-301 Pro offers a sequencer with up to 16 steps, capable of storing 108 patterns and 36 songs. By chaining two patterns it allows creating beats with 32 steps. A global shuffle mode with five graduations will make your beats swing.

Programming can be carried out in real time or step by step.

All instruments can be adjusted in three sound parameters and in level. The sound parameters pitch, note length and attack can individually be set per step. In addition, the values may also be controlled by MIDI CC commands and recorded into the sequence in real time.

All instrument levels can be adjusted separately and being programmed per track.
The MFB-301 Pro can be synchronized to a MIDI clock or an analog clock signal. Available are stereo outputs as well an an adjustable headphones output.

Power supply comes from the included USB-power adapter. The unit can be updated via its USB port, but only Windows PC's.

MFB-301 Pro is the ideal expansion for MFB Tanzmaus. Combined, all instruments of the MFB Tanzbär 1 are available. Also, the MFB-301 Pro can be controlled and even be programmed from MFB Tanzmaus via MIDI.

EMS Hi Fli Guitar Synthesizer

Here's your chance to own a restored EMS Hi Fli, one of the rarest effects of all time. Made popular by guitar players such as David Gilmour and Steve Hackett, and sonic artists like Cabaret Voltaire, the Hi Fli draws its unique sound and strength from the filter, and the way in which adjacent effects integrate and interact with it through pedal control.

Condition:
I've owned this unit for the last 7 years. It was serviced and restored by Richard Smith of KNOBS electronics, who also conducted the stability mods. It is in excellent operational and cosmetic condition.

The white case has a few minor blemishes, but no cracks, or major issues. See images for details on condition. I am happy to supply additional photos.

The pedals are NOS originals built by Robin Wood of EMS. I have the original box and documents for them and will provide with unit. I do not have the original stand, but I do have the stand mount, which is also included.

"Rare and out of production! Like New Condition!

The RozzBox V2 Poly Synth with tube filter is a 5-voice polyphonic synthesizer with digital oscillators, digital and analog filters on each voice, and one additional all tube filter.

In addition to the the classic design of a 4-oscillator polysynth with analog filters, the RozzBox features some functions that can’t be found on any other synthesizer, such as the Hacker, the chaotic filter mode, and switchable aliasing of the oscillators.

Features:

4 digital oscillators with standard and 16 additional waveforms – hard-sync possible

Configurable FM engine with 7 algorithms

Noise, external audio input, ring modulator

2 independent filters per voice

Includes 3 self-resonant Filter-Types:

Envelope follower with separate input

Complex 4-point modulation matrix with 16 sources and 16 destinations

Complex trigger matrix with unlimited connection count, for interconnection of LFOs, sequencers, envelope triggers, MIDI clock,

The switchable “Hacker” adds artificial analog aliasing (tunable)

Bit reduction / Sample rate reduction

‘Chaos’ mode of the digital filter

Synth Quartet in B Minor "Nelly"

Published on Apr 8, 2019

"A synth quartet in B minor called 'Nelly' featuring the Moog Grandmother ('Violin 1'), Korg MS-20 ('Violin 2'), ARP Odyssey ('Viola') and Sequential Pro One ('Cello').

The piece started off as a vocal line, then a 5 part chorale and finally turned into a string quartet. I don't have access to a string instruments so I decided to record it with synths instead.

The synths were tracked via MIDI/CV but I recorded a 'performance' of real time modulation by tweaking various parameters. I mainly tweaked the filter cutoff but also adjusted vibrato and envelope shapes to match the dynamics of the piece.

The Odyssey was quite pitchy and had trouble staying in tune across a large range, so I had to adjust the pitch slightly in post."

The Fairlight CMI Project Part 1

Published on Apr 8, 2019 100 Things I Do

"As promised, this year I am going to try adding some new types of content. I hope this one will be of interest to people. I have been playing with the idea of creating a full album composed mostly on the Fairlight CMI including original factory sounds. I have kept this clip to the normal 5 minutes but I'm happy to extend this out up to 20 minutes per episode if people are interested enough.

Thanks must go to Peter Wielk from Horizontal Productions not only for keeping my Fairlight alive but also for the Album and current Thumbnail art work"
