"What started as a tool created to expand my own skills and creativity with the modular, became something even better. Something that anyone with a modular could use to do the same, in flexible and unique ways, tailored to their needs. I’m excited to have made something that can help the entire modular community grow their skills and connections to what I think is the most personal and expressive instrument available to musicians."

MB-6582 midibox sid and the armalyte nostalgia

X1L3

"Quick demo of an MB-6582 wrapped up in a Thalamus nostalgia shabby scroller, for anyone considering building one. They can do lots of conventional and nice synth stuff, but the way they can pull off being a supercharged commodore 64 is where the magic is for me. A throw back to the days of pissing my parents off by turning the tv up full blast to listen to Hubbard and Galway tracks. Such a cool machine :)"

"While putting together a new patch yesterday, I discovered a really thick, juicy and amazing sounding bass when experimenting with a few different modules.
The Mazzatron Wave Morph VCDCO combined with the WMD Devices Carbon Filter is a match made in heaven, friends - and I just had to share this luscious bass sound with you!
A high amount of resonance from the Carbon Filter emphasizes these long filter sweeps! Thanks for watching!"

EZBOT: My new favorite modulation source! ~ Acid Rain's Maestro

EZBOT

"In this video we take a deep dive into Acid Rain Technology's newest module the Maestro! The Maestro quickly became a favorite for me due to it's performative nature and easy to understand interface. With save and load features, long smooth modulation sources, LFO chains, and one shot envelopes it's a dream for a live performer.

From Acid Rain Technology:
'Maestro is a 6 channel clocked modulation controller inspired by the automation lanes found in digital audio workstation software, brought into eurorack and made playable and performable. Maestro will push and pull the parameters of your other modules with rapid or slowly evolving voltages, always in perfect sync with each other and the rest of your system.'

Feed External VCOs into the Korg MS-20 Synth using KVP [Quick Tip]

gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2020

Quick Tip using the KVP to send external VCOs into the MS-20.
KVP stands for Korg Voltage Processor, and is derived from the vintage MS-02 voltage processor no longer in production.
As you're already aware, you can use KVP to convert eurorack pitch (v/oct) to the Korg standard (hz/v).
And use your sequencer to control the MS-20....

But what about the other (Korg hz/v)-to-(Euro v/oct) pitch converter?
Sure! Use the MS-20 to control your eurorack VCOs.
Take it only one step further to send the external VCO output INTO the
MS-20 external input.
To add more VCOs to the MS-20 oscillators for big fat sound.
I will show you how to patch it up.
It works for the vintage MS-20, the MS-20 Mini reissue as well as the Behringer K-2.
And any manufacturer synth using the Hz/v standard.

Some shaky cam footage, I threw this one together in haste...but don't hate :D Hit that LIKE, COMMENT & SUBSCRIBE now.

Some fx added
Delay: Timefactor
Reverb: Big Sky

KVP and many other cool eurorack modules are available in my Reverb Store

Recorded direct to Tascam DR-05."

Serge modular & voice experiments - using the wave multiplier

Förstaden

"We're experimenting with what the modular synthesizer can do with vocals, by mixing voice and a vco into the wave multiplier module.

The Serge is controlled by a eurorack Turing Machine module, trigged by a Shuffling Clock Multiplier. The Serge itself uses the NTO, PCO, VCFQ, Wave Multiplier, DTG & Xfader.

Check out our new single 'Convince Me':"

LŪP - custom tape looper and phase pattern generator

Lomond Ziggy Campbell

"LŪP came about when I was commissioned to build a custom tape-looper instrument for a musician called King Creosote. I wanted the machine to embody the compositional ideas of the two esteemed New York avant-garde composers, William Basinski and Steve Reich. It plays 12 second tape loops which ‘disintegrate’ over time as the tape passes near to a rotating magnetic disc. This rotating disc also provides a clock and drives two eccentric cams which sends out ever-shifting phase patterns. You can hook the machine up to a modular synthesiser and process the disintegrating tape loops while generating Reichian phase shifting patterns. I made an album doing just that which will be available on 4th Dec from Bandcamp."

Anyma Phi: Preview of the patch librarian / advanced editor

Aodyo Instruments

"This is a preview video of the functionality of the patch librarian / advanced editor for Anyma Phi. This will be made available as a stretch goal if reached, see our Kickstarter page for details: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Anyma Phi is an affordable hybrid monophonic synthesizer that allows you to create new sound universes inspired from the real world, where objects collide, vibrate, and resonate.

Anyma Phi blends the classic ingredients of electronic music with physical modeling technology, allowing it to simulate acoustic sound sources, such as strings or reeds, as well as resonating structures, like wood, glass, or metal."

StringQuartet – Free VST/Standalone Strings/Choir-Synthesizer/Stringmachine

Andreas Remshagen

"Download Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i8Vc...

A nice virtual version based on the technology of my Strings/Choir-Synth 3.0 Shown in a vid before. I tried to get as close as possible to the original. It also has 12 Oscillators in 4 Groups. Each Group is detunable and has its adjustable Volume. Also the whole Machine has an adjustable Ensemble-Function and a Chorus. A Volume and Filter Envelope is included. Like the Original you can Mix with the Strings/Choir-Knob. The StringQuartet is created with Flowstone and the Demo i played with the PC-Keyboard. Please Remember: This free Software is not perfect as commercial but it is made with love to the Detail and for sharing. Don’t take shared Freeware to make money. Thanks and i hope you have fun with this virtual device."

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #102: Roland D-05 - Song 3

Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the third song with the Roland D-05 Synth. It's a remake of the famous D-50 first released in 1987, a digital synth using the so called ‘Linear Arithmetic’ (LA) synthesis.

I used for the recording the following FX chain: D-05 - Pladask Elektrisk Fabrikat - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PCfor recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

Amiga Music Mouse with dual Akemie Castles

ALM TV

"Using Laurie Spiegel‘s amazing 'Music Mouse' program on a Commodore Amiga 2000 computer to sequence dual Akemie Castles for 4 FM voices.

'Music Mouse turns your computer into a musical instrument, played by pushing the music around in real time with the computers mouse while accessinging the realtime control options from the computer keyboard'

Music Mouse was written in the mid 1980s by composer and computer music pioneer Laurie Spiegel for the Apple Mac. It was also soon ported to both the Atari St and Amiga computers. The Amiga version is our favourite due to its use of color and ability to also play samples as well as produce MIDI.

Via a simple Amiga MIDI interface, 4 voices of MIDI data are processed by dual ALM mmMidis to sequence each of the two voice of two Akemie Castles. Some delay processing then added via an Ursa Major SST-282."

Leploop V2 - Analog Synthesizer & Drum Box - Signed By Designer Tony Light!

"If you are looking at this you probably know how rare it is, and if you have used one you know at first it’s like scaling a razor wire wall but OMG once you get it... You’ll never understand the words ”writers block” again, and you’ll never again hear the words ”this sounds like that other track you released”.

As you can see I had the manual printed as the learning curve was intense for me. This is truly a wonderful synth and I’m still on the fence about selling it, but I just don't use it much anymore as I have jumped down the modular rabbit hole.

This particular unit was signed by (one of the two) creator: ”Tony Light”. So this is a very collectable item.

Here is some info from the manufacturer:

- A minimalist electronic music live-performance groove-box.

- Small in nature but aggressive in sound, the user will be able to create a variety of analog timbres and beats.

"This unit simply displays the notes being played from the selected midi channel on its 88 key display. There is one MIDI in and five MIDI thru jacks on the back. This would be great for visually monitoring a whole MIDI rig where many sequences or keyboards are connected. Unit is fully functional with minor cosmetic flaws. AC power cable included (same as two-prong 'Juno 106' cable)."

"Very cool and rare synthesizer. I’ve been putting in some time getting it up and running and stable. As it sits it needs some new interconnects. Since I’ve had it I have been able to use each of the four sections. The board connectors aren’t reliable so I was planning on switching them out. Right now, the poly synth section isn’t working. It cut out because the connectors aren’t making contact. When it was working better it was sounding great. This one is going to need to a lot of tlc but it’s super rare and totally worth the investment. It has some pitting on the front panel but it’s still intact. The tolex is peeling and it would look great redone. The metal trim that goes around the end caps is missing. The power cable is laughable. You’ll probably want to replace it right away. All of the knobs are there! The keys are yellowed from cigarette smoke and you can smell it if you put your face up to it. I was able to clean all the keys so the keyboard isn’t smelly."
