Debussy Rêverie Covered With Synthesizer

video upload by Bai 白愿子

"Inspired by Debussy and Mort Garson, I used two mono synthesizers (Moog Grandmother & Werkstatt-01) to recreate Rêverie, after hours of studying sequencing on the Arturia BeatStep Pro.
I also used the AudioThing plugin Wires for the warm, warbly goodness."

Key Lean - Moog One & Roland Jupiter 4 Live ˃ Making Progressive House

video upload by Key Lean - Live Streaming & Music

"I'm a big fan of synths, live sets and travelling. And that's what my channel is about. Legendary Roland Jupiter 4, Moog One and my Virus Access is quite a good combination to make me happy for a couple of hours. Had not quite clear idea what to play, but decided to put some progressive house chords and sequences.

Added later beat section, some FXs and footage from my last trip throughout Altay, Baikal and Bashkyria. And here you go! Short video with sort of Progressive House music, plus material for potential track!

Roland Jupiter 4 is a veteran made in 1978. In such synthesizers, electrolytic capacitors "dry up" over time, as a result of which they must be well warmed up and tuned every time.

Progressive House!

Роланд Юпитер 4 - ветеран, был создан в 1978 году. У таких синтезторов со временем "подсыхают" электролитические конденсаторы, вследствие чего их надо каждый раз хорошо прогревать и настраивать."

OFFICIAL 80s SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS & ARP SYNTHESIZER TOUR JACKETS

via Tone Tweakers on eBay, and Reverb

"Here's a incredibly rare piece of Sequential Circuits memorabilia that we've never seen offered for sale anywhere. We got this a while ago from someone who worked for Sequential Circuits back in the day.

This item is unused, new old stock (!).

We googled this to see if we could find any reference to it and we couldn't, so we suspect they made very very few of them. Over 40 years later, we imagine most of them are long gone, and any surviving examples, if there are any, would be in poor condition.

As of writing this, we have 2 others available (search our website for jacket). We realize our asking price may seem quite high for a jacket, but, as mentioned, these jackets are pieces of vintage synth memorabilia and are the only ones of their kind we've ever seen in decades, and we've seen it all. Plus, there are some very serious collectors out there, and this is quite an interesting piece. If it doesn't sell soon, we may gradually lower the price, so if you're interested but don't want to pay our asking price, please let us know."

Future Retro 777 Analog Synthesizer Rare Silver Version Only 7 Units Ever Made SN FR3D714990SE1

via this auction

"In 2019, Jered from Future Retro opened his vault and sold some incredibly rare synths from his collection. I was lucky enough to buy this ultra rare brushed silver model from the buyer of this sale, one out of only 7 ever produced, with just 4 ever released to the public. It has the more controlled overdrive output level, V3 OS, and has been serviced with updated temperature compensation mod for the oscillators, a new backup battery and complete calibration. It is essentially a brand new, mint condition 777. It includes an original US power supply purchased from Future Retro. Since buying this, I have spent no more than a few hours playing with it in total. It is the best sounding synth I have ever heard and I wish I had more time to spend with it. Unfortunately for me (and fortunately for you!), I have other life priorities at the moment and need to let this beauty go. This will come packaged with multiple layers of bubble wrap/protection and insured as well, hence the shipping cost. If you would like to forego this expense please reach out before purchasing."

What remains of today | Rhodes, Yamaha SK30, Korg ER-1 mkii, El Cap, Volante, Hologram downtempo

video upload by MIDERA

"Trying something different. I have been realizing that without rhythm, I'm only creating ambient soundscapes, so I threw this Korg ER-1 into the mix and sort of enjoyed the result.

Unrelated - today I was in the garage looking for Christmas stuff and pulled out all of my old Legos. I had all the Ice Planet Lego sets. I brought it in so my daughter could play with me with them. I remember playing with these, like suddenly I felt like I was 10 years old again. But now... none of my things were built. They were scattered and destroyed. Years of misuse by nephews and nieces playing with them in the basement when I was 'too cool' for my stuff. Well - now I'm missing half of the pieces and nothing is built. It was really hard to have the booklets, but not the pieces to build anything. In a way, it felt like some sort of metaphor about my life.

Thankfully, my daughter had the time of her life. Given the option to watch a movie or play with the Legos - she chose the Legos. But I think mostly she just wanted to play with me. And that made me happy."

"Like nearly all the high end vintage analog synths we sell, this item has been METICULOUSLY disassembled, cleaned inside and out, FULLY serviced by professionals who’ve been servicing and selling vintage synths for more than the last 2 decades, and systematically tested multiple times over a long period to ensure it’s working exactly as it should. No BS. No ebay surprises. We’re perfectionists and don’t cut corners. Although this instrument came to us in relatively good shape, we want our items to be better than the rest and invested *many* hours of tech time plus parts costs to fully overhaul this unit so it would be clean, working like new again and as reliable as possible for its next owner. This was a serious investment of time, love, and money, and was definitely worth the effort and is of course reflected in the higher than usual price. If you’re looking for a great sounding example of this model that works just like it should without needing to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars in tech fees and waiting from weeks to years, this one should make you very happy."

"The most powerful sound design workstation on the planet — that’s what Electronic Musician magazine called the Kyma sound design environment. Future Music called it the Holy Grail of sound design. Kyma’s effectiveness arises from its unique set of algorithms, the ease with which you can create endless combinations of those algorithms, and the unprecedented degree of real-time responsive control over the sound parameters.

…the sound industry’s secret weapon…

Kyma allowed me to modulate and morph my own voice into other sounds… It was in the ambience of the film itself, almost as if only the idea of Nemo was out there, tormenting his father.

— , Sound Designer
You’ve already heard the sounds of Kyma in films like WALL•E, The Dark Knight, Master and Commander, Finding Nemo and in games like World of Warcraft, Quake II, Mirror’s Edge, Dark Messiah, and Mage Knight. And you’ve heard the interactive musical sounds of Kyma both on albums and in live sets by legendary musicians and producers like John Paul Jones, A.R. Rahman, Amon Tobin, Stanley Cowell, Rich Costey, Cristian Vogel, and many more.

New price is $ 4402 including the Kyma v7.2 software.

You will just need to buy the Kyma 7 software for $199, as confirmed by Symbolic Sound: "After they transfer the registration, the Kyma 7 software price would be $199."

"This incredible yellow synth was made in UK in 1999.

They are incredibly rare, there is a great Chris Carter review in SOS of it but very little information on the web about these.

This unit is in mint condition with practically no rack rash at all, just the slightest marks around the rack holes and hardly any marks on it at all, check the photos.

It sounds great - clear and wild.

Features :
3 independent LFO's for the pulse width on each of the 3 (DCO) oscillators. This sounds very fat indeed and is quite unique.
X-mod and osc sync.
Midi CC control of all parameters.
Built like a tank."

Bugbrand Chirper 2020 Red

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Great condition, comes with original box and adaptor! Rare and out of production. Comes housed in 5FW case.

Chirper is a semi-modular arrangement of two oscillators and one filter – a simple setup which belies the rich sonic surprises contained within. It is a direct continuation of , which itself was something of a reaction to my long-evolving works – after 10+ years I was feeling the call for new pastures and, while I enjoyed their deep electronic ecosystems, the lo-fi Weevil circuitry was never suitable for voltage-controlled work. The solution was to tweak ideas I’d been using in the , slightly simplifying some circuits to bring about an instrument with enticing layout and a fine balance of limitation vs. possibility.

Have a look at the Block Diagram above to see how Chirper is put together:
– the two Voltage-Controlled Oscillators are identical, with wide range (approx 0.15Hz to 100kHz) and sweepable from Triangle to Square.
– each oscillator has a Sync input along with Internal (from the other oscillator) and External (1V/Oct) Modulation controls. Things go nutty when the oscillators cross-modulate each other!
– the Voltage-Controlled Filter, with resonance up to self-oscillation and sweepable from Low-pass to High-pass, is fed audio from the 1st Oscillator (via Drive control) and is modulated by the 2nd Oscillator and/or an External (1V/Oct) source.

Of course, there is no internal VCA, so do be prepared for drones! [complimentary modules are in the pipeline] Note also that the 1V/Oct responses of the Oscillators and Filter are only quite accurate – fine for good tracking over a few octaves – and does not feature temperature compensation. Chirper was designed more as a surprise box than a well-pitched synth, but I saw it as a bonus to add simple 1V/Oct response.

4mm banana sockets are used for all I/O other than the Main Output which is 1/4″ Mono Impedance Balanced. The Instruction Sheet has details of interfacing with banana cables."

"I wanted to get to know the E-RM Polygogo oscillator and see if it was for me. It's ok! Very pretty to look at! If you have room for it in your case, and like visual feedback, this is a super cool choice. E-RM runs through Patching Panda Moon Phase and then into Rainmaker. Drums are from the Norand Mono, which makes a surprisingly good little analog drum machine.

Befaco Noise Plethora Demos by Friendly Noise

Playlist:

1. “Befaco Noise Plethora - Azatoth’s flutes” by Friendly Noise
This is my first video with the Befaco Noise Plethora, a triple digital noise generator with also three analog multimode filters, offering plenty of flexibility to shape the sound.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, Befaco Rampage, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax, Intellijel Planar, Xaoc Kamieniec, Xaoc Tallin, Qu-bit Data Bender.
+
Strymon Nightsky reverb

2. “Noise Plethora 02 - Sequencing Programs” by Friendly Noise
The programs of Noise Plethora can be sequenced manually or using the CV inputs for each channel. That greatly adds to the sonic variations of the module.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, Befaco Rampage, IOLabs Flux, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax.

Synthmas '21 w/ Synthfluencer

Door #6: Lasst uns froh und munter sein (Let us be happy and cheerful) - Synthmas '21
video upload by Synthfluencer

"The gear:
This song is played on the Casio CZ-5000 digital synthesizer. With the CZ series Casio stepped into the professional music market after getting famous with the VL-1, PT-1 and other casual instruments. All CZ synths used a synthesis technology called phase distortion. Some preferred PD before FM synthesis, since it can create bell-like sounds as well as warm analog sounding pads. Even though missing velocity and aftertouch as built in the CZ-1, the CZ-5000 was the second best equipped synth of the family. The two DCOs are capable of playing 8 different wave forms, can be ring modulated and formed by 3 envelopes for each DCO (DCA = VCA, DCW = VCF, DCO = VCO). The envelopes can have up to 8 stages what gives huge possibilities for sound design. Key split, layer sounds, a sequencer - not really easy to operate but unique in the price range at the time - and a really good sounding chorus made the CZ-5000 a dream synth for many electronic music enthusiasts.

Because operating the internal sequencer is a fiddly job I used a Korg-SQD1 for sequencing the song. The simple multi track sequencer was very popular in the 80s Detroit techno scene.

Door #5: Morgen, Kinder, wird’s was geben (Tomorrow, Children, Something Will Be) - Synthmas '21
video upload by

The song:
Originally named "Die Weihnachtsfreude" (The Joy of Christmas) the song occured first in the 18th century. It describes the childrens thrill of anticipation awaiting Christmas Eve.

The gear:
For this song I used the Yamaha MODX. The modern digital synth is basically using two synthesis engines: AWM2 is a sample based engine while the FM part is an enhanced version of legendary DX-7 engine that shaped 80s pop fundamentally. As the AWM2 synthesis allows an instrumentation in any thinkable fashion, the song's version presented here makes use of original DX-7 factory patches only. That gives the desired retro touch.

FM synthesis was a giant leap in synth architecture. Not only that digital synthesis was available for a broad customer base; the DX-7 put cutting edge expression technologys into play like breath control and MIDI and made upper class features like after touch available for the ordinary synthesist. The (then) unique e-piano patch defined a new standard and became a mandatory element of 80s synth ballads. The possibility of adding a (digital) filter and effects to the FM engine's sounds makes the MODX kind of a 'super DX7'. Hence the name MOreDX?

Trailer material: Pexels.com (image @seurafrancis99, video @cottonbro)"

Door #4: Es ist für uns eine Zeit angekommen (Unto us a time has come) - Synthmas '21

"The song:
The melody came up in the 19th century as a traditional Swiss star boys' singers Christmas carol. From it's origin, the Wiggertal in the Canton of Lucerne it found it's way to Germany. While first sung with the original lyrics, under the reign of the Nazis a secular version was created. Like years later the communist GDR regime, the Nazis tried to remove the christian aspects from Christmas - our celebration of commerce we all love so much today. Nevertheless, this version is the most common used for the song today.

The gear:
The song is played by a Roland JV-1010. Sometimes derided as a "ROMpler", this multi-timbral digital synth is equipped - like it's bigger brother the JV-1080 - with many legendary sounds of Roland's 80s flagship D-series (10/20/50). Like Roland D-synths the JV-1010 creates it's sounds using LA-Synthesis. Therefore calling it "ROMpler" is simply wrong. LA-Synthesis was Roland's bold move to finally break the success of Yamaha's FM-Synthesis intruduced in early 80s with the legendary DX-7. The idea behind LA-Synthesis is that real instrument sounds (back then synths aimed most notably to imitate real instruments) are recognized by the very first parts of a sound. So LA or linear arythmethic synthesis using very short samples at the beginning of a sound continued with subtractive synthesis.

For this song I only used factory presets. I think the JV-1010/1080 has a wonderful warm sound. A Roland D-10 was my very first synth that broke a few years ago and I always thought about replacing it by another one or a D-50. But the JV-1010 turned out to be much more than a makeshift. Love it!
