Intellijel Introduces Stomp Eurorack Module

via Intellijel

Eurorack is a synthesist’s toy chest. Stompboxes are a guitarist’s toy chest. Each industry offers a seemingly infinite variety of products that enable musicians to build systems unique to their needs and to create a signature sound. Each is also somewhat addictive. Rare is the musician who doesn’t eventually need a larger toy chest to house the accumulated toys.

Fortunately for the budget-conscious musician, Eurorack modules and stompboxes have always existed in separate worlds — someone whose Eurorack system consumes an entire wall in their home is usually not the same person whose pedalboard now requires a dedicated roadie just to transport it to the gig.

Intellijel’s Stomp removes the barrier between Eurorack and stompboxes. It provides the modular synthesist with a portal to stompbox nirvana, and the guitarist with a wormhole to the sonic manipulations of Eurorack modules.

Stomp enables the modular synthesist to interact with the impressive assortment of delays, choruses, flangers, phasers, fuzz boxes, tremolos, wah-wahs, amp simulators, compressors, and pitch shifter pedals available to guitarists. If your effects pedal is adorned with an expression pedal input, Stomp supports that too, and even features a built-in LFO to modulate your pedal’s expression input. Need something crazier? No problem. Simply patch any modulation source from your modular system into the expression control jack to override the built-in LFO.

Conversely, guitarists can plug their guitar directly into Stomp’s RETURN jack, giving them access to the myriad filters, ring mods, wavefolders and — most importantly — the near-infinite CV modulation delights inherent in Eurorack.

Features:

Robust Neutrik 1/4″ TS connectors for the SEND/RETURN and TRS for the Expression interface
Signals arriving at Stomp’s RETURN jack pass through a Class A triode emulator, allowing for some tube-like overdrive at high gain setting.
Stomp is more than just a simple level shifter — it’s also an impedance converter, which provides proper drive and loading for any FX pedals or instruments you connect.
Separate gain controls on both the SEND and RETURN. This enables you to adjust the level of any audio being sent to the FX pedals as well as any audio coming back into the modular. Not only does this allow you to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio, but by significantly boosting the RETURN level, you can achieve some pleasingly overdriven tones.
Supports both Instrument and Line levels via a front panel switch.
Use Stomp’s RETURN circuit as a “direct box” for connecting any instrument.
The high input impedance of the RETURN circuit allows it to be used as a piezo pickup preamp for acoustic instruments.
Use Stomp in the studio as an active “re-amping” device to play pre-recorded tracks back through guitar amplifiers or pedals.
All inputs are protected for minimum RF interference.
Return signal can be phase inverted for use with those pedals or effects types that invert phase.
Low MIX output impedance for driving long cables, lower noise, and minimum interference from outside sources.
The Expression Pedal Output converts analog CV sources (or the internal LFO) into an output compatible with most stompbox Expression inputs.

Intellijel Sealegs

video upload by Intellijel

"Our design goal for Sealegs was to create the warmest, most musical and organic delay module possible — something that would sweeten and enhance any audio one chose to feed into it. As such, great care has gone into modeling the most distinctive and desirable sonic characteristics of three different types of delay circuits: Tape, Bucket Brigade, and Crossfading Digital.
A plethora of onboard controls enable you to dial in exactly the sound you want; synced or un-synced delays times (for both left and right channels); saturating input drive; a built-in modulator with 7 morphing waveshapes, Wow & Flutter emulation, and an envelope follower; plus dedicated low- and high-pass filters; built-in hiss & crackle noises; per-model color controls; a spacious reverb; and a re-configurable signal flow through the unit. In addition, attenuverted modulation inputs abound — ensuring the delay ebbs and flows with your musical needs.

Features:
- Three Unique delay models — Tape, Bucket Brigade, and Crossfading Digital
- Per-model Color, Modulation behavior, and Saturation/Limiting
- True Stereo delay with separate L/R buffers
- Three Stereo configurations (PONG, Time/Width, L/R)
- Three Range variations for short Chorus/Flanger style delays to Long ambient repeats.
- Up to 6(L) and 8(R) seconds of delay time (Width can add up to 33% to Time)
- Built-in modulator with Wow & Flutter, Envelope Follower, and 7 morphing wave shapes
- Lush 1970s-inspired reverb with 3 insert positions.
- Saturating input drive with level trim
- Stable external clock (or tap tempo) sync for Delay Times or Modulation
- Highpass and Lowpass filters for filtered repeats
- Freeze functionality for holding the buffer and looping
- Nine CV inputs with attenuverters
- 96 kHz 24-bit Stereo I/O and 32-bit floating point internal processing"

Moog Mother32 - "Cosmos" Soundset (32 Patches)

video upload by LFOstore

https://lfo.store/

"LFO Store presents a revolutionary soundset for Moog Mother-32 - a semi-modular monophonic analog synthesizer! A feature of this bank is the use of non-standard modulation techniques with the mixture of external audio noise effects (samples). Therefore, very interesting sounds are obtained, which are suitable for both classical electronic music and experimental styles.

In this soundbank you will find completely different settings - from long and atmospheric drone effects, short plucks, catchy leads and even pads that can be layered for a bright analog sound! Each patch is sketched in detail and accompanied by a description of the preferred modulation parameters and the external sounds used. These patches will be very handy for both live performances and studio work.

This year, our team has implemented the Analog 2023 Series project and has already created several hundred patches for analog synthesizers such as Wasp, Cat, Neutron and others. Thus, we have accumulated considerable experience in creating quality products for analog synthesizers. This soundset is suitable for both professionals who are interested in improving their skills, and beginners, who just started their first sound design steps.

The product pack contains:

♪ The booklet in .pdf format with high quality pictures of every of 32 hand-crafted patches created by the well-known sound designers, Otto K. Schwarz;
♪ Audio Examples of each patch in .mp3 format;
♪ External audio samples in .wav format."

Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave OS 1.5 Update Adds MPE Support, Poly Unison, Free Running OSCS & Long LFOs

via Groove Synthesis

3rd Wave OS version 1.5

new in this release:

- support for MIDI MPE controllers - enable MPE from the GLOBAL menu and explore the new modulation sources at the end of the list. Pitch bend range can be set in the MISC menu

- option for free running analog oscillators in the MISC menu which is settable per patch - In the analog waveform mode, which you are using when you select the Axx waveforms like Saw and Square, now has the option to make the waveforms not reset when you start a new note. In this mode, the oscillators will continue to drift from each other as they do on some fully analog synthesizers. There are two side effects if you are using free running for the analog waveforms:

1. When two or more oscillators are running at the same time, the phase of the waveforms will not be reset and could start at any position. As a result, there will be phase cancellation compared to having the oscillators always start at the same point. What you will hear is that the notes will change volume level slightly as the oscillators start and also drift in and out of phase with each other.

2. In the normal mode the oscillator always starts at zero. Now it could start at any point in its phase position. That means when you hit a note, a single oscillator could be at 0, +1.0, -1.0, or anywhere in between. If it starts at or close to +1.0 ot -1.0, you are going from no sound to fully on immediately. This can cause a click at the beginning of the note depending on the phase. It is noticeable mostly when using a sine wave, and not too noticeable with something like a saw or square. If you want to use this free running mode, turn the attack time up to +20 or higher to quickly fade in and avoid the potential click.

UNO Synth Pro X - Review - Sonic LAB

video upload by sonicstate

"We take a look at the new Uno Synth Pro X from IK Multimedia - rather than a fully new instrument, this is an update for their Uno Synth Pro Desktop which we really enjoyed when we took a look. The X is only available in this form and adds a whole lot of extra UI and physical controls to ultimately the same (or very similar) synth engine.

There are however some differences:-
New Hardware UI with metal top plate (no capacitive touch keyboard and strips)
Additional Envelope Generator ENV3
USB-C connection for MIDI (and included additional PSU with separate connection)
Vib and Chorus Ensemble in place of flange and phase
Shimmer Reverb Algorithm
Bassline Mode - modifies the behaviour of the synth engine, adds accenting controls to the sequencer.

Available now priced at £510(ish) and around $499 Street

"Multitrack midi sequencer. has drum and melodic parts, external record function, different midi setup options, and some experimental features

it’s a great example of very authentic and special step sequencer. very rare to find. it can be a straight forward control station, but also has unique experimental features as rotate, step delay, and so on.

so it is very well balanced for programming straight forward melodies/rhythms, or to do something completely unpredictable and polyrhythmical.

lots of built in memory, song and pattern chain modes, great, compact, stylish, and very sophisticated device made in Germany."

Moog 1982 Product Catalog Featuring the DSC - Digital Sequential Controller

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Note the DSC in the 2nd image. Kind of looks like a Source minus keys. You can see one in the flesh in this previous post. According to the catalog:

DSC-To meet the need of performers demanding the versatility and freedom that can be attained with a sequencing device, Moog introduces the Digital Sequential Controller (DSC).

The DSC is an intelligent controller - it stores information played on a synthesizer keyboard and reproduces and manipulates that information in musically useful ways.

The DSC has three recording modes - normal, metronomic, and expanding. In the normal mode all keyboard technique (key depressions, slurs, etc.) - is recorded exactly as played. The metronomic mode disregards timing information and assigns the same time value to each event. The expanded mode stores anything that can be played on the synthesizer (including pitch bend, vibrato, and glide).

Four sequences can be stored (total storage approx 800 notes). The DSC will send the sequence information back to "play" the synthesizer. Sequences can be "chained" for playback in any particular order. Playback can be stopped and continued, or run in "single-step" mode. Notes within a sequence can be edited and corrected.

A "transpose chain" can be programmed and stored to produce automatic key changes. Output pulses can be programmed on any note or notes to trigger an external synthesizer, start or stop a tape recorder, etc. Glide can be added to any recorded sequence, in addition, recorded glide can be converted to quantized glissando.

The DSC generates a SMPTE compatible sync signal for synchronization with tape or additional controllers. All DSC information can be saved on a standard cassette for later re-use.

The DSC is more than a "sequencer", it is the most versatile controlling device available.

Endless Processor | by Blukač, Kyiv, Ukraine

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The Endless Processor is best described as a module with five freeze buffers per channel, where the word 'freeze' should translate to a spectrum atmosphere because more memory can be used. It outputs many layers of tones derived from your incoming source, while retaining your source character. For your reference, it compares a bit to an Indian Tanpura where four strings create infinite drones. Sure, it's an exotic module, but I am convinced it will find a way to ambient drone dream composers."
