"This is a vintage 1981 CAT synth by Octave. The synth is a monophonic/duophonic analog synthesizer with two oscillators capable of sawtooth and square waves. The first VCO also has a triangle waveform. This piece is in excellent condition, the original pressed wood side panels have been replaced with genuine walnut panels. The originals are included, as well as a dust cover, footswitch and all handy paperwork."
"Quickly put together on a Moog Sub 37 (with a little help from a reverb, Red Panda Particle, and a Rat distortion and some field recordings made into a beat)"
"Young People's Concert: 'Bach Transmogrified'
with the New York Philharmonic
Written and conducted by Leonard Bernstein
Bernstein discusses different transmogrifications or treatments of Bach's works. After an organ recital of the Little Fugue, guest conductor Leopold Stokowski conducts his own transcription of the fugue for symphony orchestra. Other transmogrifications include Foss' Phorion and a version of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 performed by the New York Rock and Roll Ensemble.
In this excerpt, Bernstein discusses the Bach Little Fugue in G Minor heard on the Moog Synthesizer.

The SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is happy to announce the date for the next edition of Superbooth: SUPERBOOTH24 will be happening from the 16th to the 18th of May 2024 at FEZ-Berlin.
Pre-sale tickets for SB24 will be available from the first of November 2023. Brands and manufacturers that are interested in exhibiting at SB24 can already contact us. More information regarding SB24 will follow in the fall.
For the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN, even during the beginning of this year being able to securely plan for 2024 was not a given. Like many large-scale events and festivals, the Superbooth had faced substantial financial difficulties due to pandemic-related cancellations and restrictions. This year’s SB23 was the first Superbooth that could happen without restrictions since 2019, and its success was crucial in deciding the future of the event.
As such, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is belated to announce that SUPERBOOTH23 was a resounding success that was able to secure the continuation of the event. As the biggest and most successful Superbooth to date, SB23 trumped even the previous record year 2019 with over 250 exhibitors from all the world and over 9000 visitors and participants.
Even on social media, SUPERBOOTH23 was more present than ever, perhaps because of the event’s continued, but amplified focus on inclusivity and diversity in the electronic music technology industry, a direction that was welcomed enthusiastically by most of the Superbooth’s visitors and participants. With initiatives such as the “Minibooth” for children and adolescents, workshops for women and nonbinary people and a women’s quota in the performance booking, the SUPERBOOTH23 attempted to showcase a way towards a more open and inclusive future of electronic music-making.
The various musical performance stages gave the SB23 the character of a music festival, with a musical focus on special live performances that fall outside the reach of typical large-scale festival bookings. The new session stage brought new genres such as dub, reggae, and different forms of bass music to the event. In the evening hours, the ever-popular Strandbühne (beach stage) with its relaxed vibe and various catering offerings conjured an atmosphere that lived up to the energy of a proper music festival.
During SB23, attendees often remarked that there was a noticeable relaxed, perhaps even euphoric atmosphere that could be felt all across the event. The Superbooth’s unique concept of a “trade fair with the spirit of a festival” has once again proven itself as something unique within the world of electronic music.
For 2024, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN will further build on the success of 2023 but of course also attempt to make the event even better, so that it can continue to live up to its status as the world’s biggest trade fair for electronic musical instruments. As such, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is open and thankful for feedback of any kind (e-mail: info@superbooth.com).
"Warning... this is a synth nerd video. Tweaking the parameters and exploring the sounds of the Altair 231. And of course thru a Dolby 361 modded with the 'Dolby Trick'"
Launched in 2020, the Tracker brought tracker-based sequencing into the 21st century, making it a must for musicians around the globe. Since its debut, Polyend has also released the Trakcer Mini ($699), and now, you can get the original for even less."
"Drumplayer is a free VST instrument plugin integrating drum sounds from the 99 Drum Samples library. The plugin aims to provide a straightforward interface to craft drum loops.
The concept was born from a desire to create a user-friendly drum instrument with production-ready drum kits.
Drumplayer supports 32-bit and 64-bit VST and AU plugin hosts on Windows and macOS.
Details: Drumplayer has 20 drum kits, including 808, 909, vinyl, electronic, tape, and other drum styles. These kits suit various genres, including hip-hop, electronic, lo-fi, glitch, and experimental.
The plugin also includes a set of drums sampled from the Commodore 64 and a Nintendo Game Boy.
Every kit contains 14 drum sounds encompassing kicks, snares, hi-hats, cymbals, and percussion.
"Bearing serial number 5061, this Rev 3 has been retrofitted with MIDI bringing it into the 21st century DAW environment. Our pro techs have gone through and given this ol' girl the royal treatment. It has received a rebuild of the power supply, a cap job, new PSU connectors, over 50 IC chip replacments, 10.5 firmware, cleaning, and calibration. You'd be hard up to find one as clean, maintained, and functional as this Prophet."
"Playing big, brash and melodic lines with other eurorack compatible kit. The Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular 400 is so good at experimental and evolving ambient soundscapes using the onboard sequencer (which is much more flexible than it looks), that there's a whole lot of that already here on YouTube.
The pocket operator modular series has been reduced in price - enough to tempt me into buying the 'big' yellow 400 to see what it's all about.
I'm using it here with the Analog Solutions Colossus - just to have a listen to how well the little yellow one stacks up sonically to something with an undisputed quality tone. It does very well sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro, showing not only that it works with other kit, but also that its possible to pay melodic tracks with it, so thought demoing something big, brash and melodic would make a pleasant change"
"Are arpeggiators underutilised? I feel like I'm not hearing arps too often in synth jams, especially when compared to sequencers. In this video I do some exploring of the humble arpeggiator with the goal of making some cool synth music!
"Last night, in the heart of Madrid, a sonic spectacle resonated between the walls of the imposing Almudena Cathedral and the majestic Royal Palace. With the stage set between these two iconic landmarks, I delivered a performance inspired by the rich history, culture, and spirituality of the Spanish capital.
Using the Nord Lead 4R, Elektron Octatrack, and Arturia Keystep Pro, I aimed to capture and convey the essence of Madrid, a city that has deeply inspired me since my first visit. Each instrument played a crucial role in creating this mystical and vibrant atmosphere.
The Nord Lead 4R, with its modulation capabilities and vast sound palette, allowed me to evoke the rich tones of the cathedral bells, mixed with the bustling life of Madrileño streets. I could mimic everything from the gentle tinkle of morning bells to the powerful toll marking the passage of time.
On the other hand, the Elektron Octatrack acted as my sonic canvas, enabling me to sample and manipulate sounds in real-time. I recorded snippets of Madrid's ambient noise: laughter, footsteps, the gentle hum of conversations on terraces, and the distinctive sounds of traffic, to later weave them into a rich musical tapestry that underpinned my performance.
Finally, the Arturia Keystep Pro was the bridge that tied all these elements together. With its sequences and control capabilities, I could steer the direction and flow of the music, adding melodies and harmonies inspired by flamenco, fandango, and other traditional Spanish rhythms.
As the first chords echoed, a visual projection unfolded on the façade of the Almudena Cathedral, showcasing scenes from Madrid's history, from ancient times to the bustling metropolis it is today.
As the night progressed, attendees were taken on a sensory journey. From the dark mystery of the Spanish Civil War, through the cultural renaissance of the Movida Madrileña, to the vibrant pulse of modern Madrid.
I deeply thank everyone who joined me on this sonic journey. It was an honor to share my love for music and Madrid in such a spectacular setting. Here, under the starlit sky and between buildings that have witnessed centuries of history, we all felt the eternity of the moment.
Until next time, Madrid. Thank you for the inspiration. 🎹🌌🎶"
"After some years the Transistor Sound Labs Stepper Acid sequencer is finally available again! We took the opportunity and combined it with the updated version of the easy and effective Domino synthesizer voice by Eowave. What a fun combo!
The two modules provide you with an easy workflow, great sound and live performance capabilities. The two modules, a case and three cables is all you need to you started. Recommended!"
This appears to be the first post to feature the RMIF ES-2-5.
"The RMIF ES-2-5 is an experimental drum machine that was made in Riga, Latvia, in the last days of the Soviet Union (1991). It was an attempt at re-creating the Roland TR-808, but was hampered by the lack of microchip technology available. RMIF abandoned the project after only a testing run of 30 units where made. One rare surviving example found its way to my studio in a sorry state. I had it restored to better then new condition, as I feel it is a piece of instrument history. And it sounds so very very heavy and melancholic.

"Unconcise demo of a Trilobite triple VCO (Moog 204D) processed by an og ARP Axxe mkII (in mkI cabinet), with that often neglected 4075 VCF... which does sound exceptionally well?! This ARP is considered for sale though :) For the FM patches I plugged one of the VCOs output into the FM in of one other. And the retrig mode it's the Arp Repeat switch enabled!
Sorry for the weird video edit with those scopes surrounding the Arp, I had a terrible mess around which I didn't consider until I finished the video... Too late ha, I only found that way to hide it x))"
"TRILOBITE is a triple saw-core oscillator analogue module inspired by the original Moog schematics and made with thru-hole components only
The module features:
– 4 octave ranges
– 3 waveforms (triangle, square, saw),
– UNISON (FINE) control with a range of +/- 12 semi-tones
– Independent LIN FM and PWM inputs with attenuators
– White noise source
Independent audio output is provided for each oscillator. A mixed output is also present featuring a level control.
We are recommend to use independent audio outputs to avoid distortion, in this case MiX output works as WHITE NOISE source with attenuator.
V/oct input of the first oscillator is normalled to all 3 oscillators, so OSC2 and OSC3 would track it too, however, connecting other signals to the other V/oct inputs make each input independent.
