"NO FX - all sounds are produced by Waldorf Microwave synth and captured straight into PC.

Digital oscillator and analog filter, just 8 voices, no onboard effects - but it can sound like an orchestra. I always wanted to make a long, self-evolving patch - and this demo is supposed to show the incredible power of mighty Microwave.

Okay, if a big (by modern standards) 2 rack units box is a Micro, what about Macro? It all started in 1978 with Wavecomputer 360 by PPG (Palm Products GmbH) - the first instrument to offer 30 different wavetables (64 waves each) opposing to the usual minimum of the day (sine, saw, pulse). With added analog filters, it later became known as PPG Wave.

In the late 1980s #wavetable was still a groundbreaking concept - when single-cycle waveforms of differing harmonic spectra were stored in adjacent memory slots. Dynamic spectral shifts were achieved by scanning through the waveforms, with interpolation used to avoid noticeable 'jumps' between the adjacent waveforms (extensively used in this demo).

With the end of the #PPG company, some of its employees moved to the newly-created #Waldorf to make their first rockstar - the Microwave which is essentially PPG Wave 2.3 with original wavetables and analog filters.

Korg keyboard is used just as a MIDI controller, with a sustain pedal.
Programming the machine is in fact easier than it seems at first glance - but more #MIDI knobs and faders would be helpful anyway."

"This is a demo of my Moog Rogue synthesizer. Recorded on 12/13/24. The synthesizer sounds excellent and is in excellent cosmetic shape. It was extensively professionally restored a few years ago and has rarely been used since. It is missing one slider cap from the envelope section, but everything works perfectly.

The signal path was synthesizer -- passive DI box -- Midas Heritage D console -- Pro Tools. Any reverb or delay effects have been added in post. There are some pops and glitches in the audio, but those come from video transcoding errors, not from the synthesizer."

With the power of convolution reverbs and good impulse responses I transport some of my synths (Korg MS-20, Roland SH-09, PWM Malevolent and Eurorack Modular) into some unique spaces included a bombproof underground WW2 oil storage facility in Scotland, an abandoned cooling tower in Belgium as well as classic studio gear with the AKG BX20 spring reverb and the ECOPLATE 1980 plate reverb. Tremendous fun and fantastic sounds.

This is all with the brand new Verbs stereo convolution pedal from Poly Effects. It has 8 banks of 8 impulse responses (plus 8 more that can be user replaced) with some fascinating natural and man made spaces along with a collection of studio gear and create, weird and wonderful IRs too. "The Solar Voltages is a 2hp, 2-channel Solar Cell module which outputs two separate control voltages in response to light. Each channel outputs approximately 0-5V, with higher voltages corresponding to more intense and/or direct light. As the two channels can be manipulated with relative independence, the Solar Voltages makes for a great low-profile and multi-dimensional 'light theremin' for direct and spontaneous control of two different parameters at once.

Picophonica — A Raspberry Pi Pico synth for a toy keyboard, with instrument presets and Midi out

"A friend gifted me a cheap toy musical keyboard. The sound quality was atrocious, and it could only play one note at a time. So I removed its circuitry while keeping its enclosure, speaker, and keybed, and with some tinkering and a Raspberry Pi Pico I turned it into something usable.

I integrated a software synthesizer into the Pico. It's pico_synth_ex by Ryo Ishigaki - ISGK Instruments. The new engine boasts two oscillators, featuring descending sawtooth and square waveforms, a customizable filter with resonance control, cutoff modulation, a Decay-Sustain amp envelope, and an LFO for added modulation possibilities.

This video shows the makeover. The soundtrack is entirely played on the Picophonica, recorded one instrument at a time through the new audio out port.

The Boss RV-200 is Boss's latest algorithmic reverb pedal - indeed it can be battery powered (3 AA) though not sure quite how long that would last, given that the unit features 32-bit Float DSP and 32-bit AD/DA 96kHz and Stereo in and Out.

"In the last video, I used intensely the Ritournelle CV and TRIG Generator from LARIX-ELEKTRO.

Here some explanation of how I'm using them.
I'm also using the new (soon available) Attenuverter Bank: 4 by 4 attenuverter, freely configurable as mixer / dispatcher / matrix. Tha I use here to mix and dispatch the various CV from all the CV Generator modules.
This is a very simple use, that can be a good strating point to more complexe (and so rich in variation) sequences."

"DOPPIO by Threetom Modular is a stereo (or two channel) saturator/soft clipper that was designed to bring all the dirt where you want it but remain clean where you need it. You can use it to add huge amounts of noisefree gain to weak signals or to make a clean sound more saturated by using a selectable soft clipping circuit. The most useful feature and the one I will probably use most of the time is the soft clipping 'limit' setting, which gives the user the ability to set a safe master volume and bring in some saturation.

This video is not an extensive playthrough but rather a quick rundown of the features of this brand new Threetom Modular creation. There's a few patch examples in this video but I'm sure I'll make more uploads using DOPPIO when I run into things that benefit from a fresh caffeine shot. I'm confident this will be a great boost to my drumsection (pun intented)."
