How To Use An Oscilloscope With Your Modular System
video upload by Patchwerks
"In this video Nick Bigelow of Patchwerks shows us how to use the Mordax Data Oscilloscope in a modular system.
Get the Mordax Data here: https://bit.ly/mordaxDATA
'The DATA is a digital platform for testing, measurement, and signal generation in Eurorack modular synthesis systems. It is a modular tool kit, with functions applicable to any system and style.
Use the DATA’s scope to view the interactions between your control voltages and audio signals, allowing you to master your modules by understanding their voltage ranges, control shapes, and parameter responses. Use the DATA’s dual waveform generator to dial in a precisely scaled LFO for CV control, or use the waveform’s frequency “note mode” to effortlessly make dyads (two note chords). Use the DATA’s clock program as a master clock or to divide or multiply an incoming clock signal, sending four different clock outs to gate modules directly or as control to sequencers.
The possibilities of the DATA are basically unlimited; with the included microSD you can update the DATA’s firmware and we can continue to refine and create new programs.' -Mordax

Make Noise LxD Resonance Demonstration
Published on Jan 7, 2018
"This is a response to the first half of 'Advanced Patching with LxD' video from Make Noise. [posted here]
Patch Notes:
Intelijel Dixie II+ Oscillator waveform out into Maths channel #2 set to +10V.
Sum out of Maths into LxD 12db Signal Input.
Output of LxD 12db section into a Buffered Multiple.
One multiple going to Channel #3 of Maths which applies the amount of inverted feedback ( -0.1V to -5V).
One Multiple going to Manhatten Analog DTM Mixer.
Mixer output goes to Mordax Data's Oscilliscope (Green Trace).
Mordax output to Make Noise Optomix as a final out.
Korg SQ-1 pitch CV is feeding 1V/O of the Dixie II+ Oscillator.
SQ-1 is also sending Gate CV to Make Noise 0-Coast's Contour Section (Gate Input).
Contour's output is input to LxD's 12db section's CV in (Vactrol Gate).
Contour output is split and fed into Mordax Data's Scope (Blue Trace).
Second Gate output from SQ-1 shows Gate and Gate Length in Mordax Data's scope (Red Trace).
Contour's Sustain level knob is controlling the LxD's Vactrol Gate frequency response acting as a "filter cutoff"... (not sure if that is technically correct...It's cool though..)
Playing with the Gate Length on the SQ-1 is really fun here. Especially when the gate length is at a maximum level (Gate High) and you sweep the Sustain level knob on the Contour section.
Increasing the Inverted signal of Maths Channel #3 will introduce some extreme resonance. Dialing in the amount of inverted signal can show a great range of sonic character. Thank You Make Noise Music!!"

432 vs 440Hz concert pitch | Love never dies, but Math never lies.
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"I am aware this is a controversial subject, but I've been intrigued by it for a long time. First, I was open for it, then I became doubtful and ended up in 'it makes no difference' camp. It's just a frequency like any other.
Honestly, this was supposed to be a 'fun' video where I'd investigate the subject like a mad scientist would, without jumping to conclusions.
From a numerologic perspective, 432 is a fun number. When you add all digits, you'd end up with 4+3+2 = 9. If you tune A to 432, the next A would be 864. Again, 8+6+4 = 1+8 = 9. If you'd use equal temperament, all notes in your scale would be integer (whole) numbers with no decimals, and the digits of all frequencies would add up to 9. A440 would have eight 'broken' frequencies in the scale. But that's numerology, it doesn't make music any better or worse. A VCO runs perfectly stable on 345.6701 Hz and it will probably drift all over the place when it's analog. Does 432 make any sense from the perspective of the Universe? Quite. The number constantly turns up in time and space. Ofcourse it also returns in the Great Pyramid and the lightspeed constant.
Again, that's just numerology and it has nothing to do with frequency. That's like apples, oranges or cows. Or is it? Frequency is cycles per second. Cycles are circles moving in time and phase is expressed in numbers like 45, 90, 180 and 360. There's that number 9 again. How about time? There are 4320 seconds in 12 hours. So maybe, just maybe, 432 Hz is not like 432 cows. The number 9 is a funny number.
Mr Spock would say 'fascinating' and raise an eyebrow.
I've set my Mordax Data to 432 and 440 Hz on 'wave generator' so I could play both with a sequence. Sure it sounds different, because it's tuned a tiny bit lower (98,18 of 100%). By itself this would have a psychological effect of relief, of closure. When you start A440 and play A432, it's relaxing.
But this also happens when you move a semitone or note down.
I ran my Mordax raw sinewaves through Joranalogue's Collide 4 and used it as a resonating body (with the filter and the quadrature ring mod).
I ran a sequence spanning a wide range of notes, with plenty of reverb to make the notes interact, blur and sustain. Then, suddenly the differences between A440 and A432 wasn't subtle anymore. It was huge.
Better? I think so, but that's personal taste. Healing? Nah. More natural? I think so too. But there's nothing magical about it, it's math. I figured that a frequency doubles for each octave, so the range of A0 to A9 would sound completely different for 432 and 440. In fact, the high notes in 440 end up 256 Hz higher than in 432. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but A3 (220 Hz) is already one octave below A4 (440).
So my 'conclusion' is that A432 sounds much lower over the full range of 88 piano keys and the highs are less high. Pitch quality is different, it sounds different, and interaction with other complex frequencies will be different. Resonance and FM will be different. It's up to you to determine what sounds best. Please share your experience in the comments, and please note I am just having fun. I don't believe in the 440 conspiracy and I don't think it's bad for your health. I believe ALL music can support a healing process, but always listen to your doctor first."

Moog DFAM! VCO, FM, & Hard Sync...
Published on Jan 18, 2018 JAkoGreyshire
"Moog DFAM! Drummer from another Mother. This video demonstrates the VCO section of the DFAM. The oscillators are tuned to G and D.
Korg SQ-1 is sequencing pitch data to VCO 1 and 2 and supplying the gates that are triggering a Make Noise Contour and another Contour section on the Make Noise 0-Coast.. These ADSRs are controlling VCAs which the VCOs are patched into. You can see the ADSR shapes on the Mordax Data Scope at full screen...not really important here..
This is to show a small example of the VCO section and how it may be used without the rest of the DFAM..
Uh oh!! There is one patch cable in there that is not doing anything! Can you find it? Where's the dummy patch cable?!?!"

Eowave - Fluctuations Magnetiques - Filter Pings & Quad Bandpass
Published on Oct 9, 2016 DivKidVideo
"Here's a first patch video with the tasty sounding Fluctuations Magnetiques from Eowave. It's a quad filter, or rather a pair of dual filter as it's not totally four independent filters. All the modulation sources are shown on the Mordax Data oscillscope., It's a saw wave going into the input and I'm just moving the coarse tuning from low LFO ranges that ping the resonance up to audio rate which gives us the lovely phaser type stuff."

Behringer Model D in a Waldorf KB37 - Eurorack Starter
Published on Apr 22, 2018 ProckGnosis
"Here's my first step working with eurorack modular. And yes, it's a very safe way to start, considering the Behringer Model D costs less than many one-function modules, and offers everything I need for starting out.
My 3 big take-aways from this "proof of concept" would be:
1. The Behringer Model D sounds pretty decent. I've heard enough examples that I'm not too shocked, but I am still a bit surprised.
2. For people who like modular and playing keyboards and synths, the KB37 is an awesome way to combine both worlds.
3. Yes, modular does appear to be a black hole, and it will definitely put a dent in my wallet and bank account.
And a bonus observation...the Studio Electronics 4075 filter module is SWEEEEEET.
Thanks to DivKid for a great vid showing how he installed the Behringer Model D in a eurorack."
Behringer Model D #02 - Eurorack Case Installation
Published on Feb 2, 2018 DivKidVideo
"In the second video (not the jam videos, I numbered / titled those separately) on the Behringer Model D we look at installing the module into a euro rack case. I did plan on covering this later in the series but as I wanted it in the modular for ease of control/modulation/use in my set up and also to have it next to the Mordax DATA oscilloscope here we go. You remove 8 screws, lift up the panel and then remove two cables/connectors and then add the euro rack ribbon power cable to the module, plug that into your euro rack bus board, screw the module onto the rails and you're off. Simple!"
