I took away the distance between them, brought them close to each other, letting them smell each other, take a glimpse at one another... I never felt more sexual tension in one room. An even simpler theme
YouTube via attorks
"An even simpler theme; just 3 minor chords (Cm, Bbm and Fm) and an improvised solo. The first 8 step sequence you hear is the Synthesizers.com which later transposes to the bass line. The second 12 and 16 step sequence is a MFM VCO through the CGS Steiner filter only using the Band Pass input. The third 8 step sequence (but all notes are the same) is a MFM VCO through an Ian Fritz 5Pulser through an Oakley Equinoxe Phaser.

Ad Infinitum UMM402 Mixer Module
via this auction
"The UMM402, "Utilis Multis Mixus IV-II", is two four-way multiples with 3.5mm jacks and with an integrated two channel passive mixer, in a standard single-width Frac-Rak module..
The UMM402 has two four-way multiples, each of which is also routed to one side of a two channel passive (attenuating) mixer. The mixer adds a 10Kohm load to each signal. This module is great for mixing control voltages.
Due to maximum use of available panel space, this module fits a standard angle- rail-type Frac-Rak case (such as the Paia case), yet does not currently fit into a 'C'-rail type Frac-Rak case (such as the Blacet case.)

They are identical except that one is at 8000dpi and the other is at 4000dpi. The 4000dpi discs are a bit cheaper to make, so we’re trying to find out if the savings is worth the difference in quality."via optigan.com where you'll find samples.

Wasp-like VCF sync demo
YouTube via synthmonger
"Here's a small clip featuring one of my latest VCF modules. This is a wasp-like filter using my voltage controlled oscillator variable resistors (vcovrs) to control the frequency and resonance of the state variable filter.
In the video I have a single oscillator running through the filter while another oscillator is syncing the vcovr which is controlling the filter frequency. The resonance is set at max and is self-oscillating, which is very unusual since state variable filters are not supposed to self-oscillate. I am just adjusting the frequency knobs and showing the different audio outputs. Not much to it! :)"

New Rhodes Chroma Registry Page: Model 1611 (Computer Interface)
via Chris Ryan on the Rhodes Chroma List:"The instrument registry has been a popular part of the site; in addition to the more than 500 Chromas and Expanders listed (over 200 of which were supplied directly by owners), it accounted for over 5500 page views during the last twelve months, more than 7200 if the Polaris registry is included.
A lot of the instruments in the registry came from Fender's warranty list, a copy of which was supplied by Ken Ypparila [21030229]. This list also includes the serial numbers of the computer interface kit, Model 1611, which were registered by owners. This kit comprised the Fender Music System and the interface card for the Apple II computer. I thought it would be interesting to start a new page for this part of Chroma history. For now, the list contains the interfaces for which registration cards were returned to Fender, along with the serial number for my interface (which was stolen along with my computer over twenty years ago), 27 in total. The highest serial number in the list is 16110219, which was mine; so it seems that this was a production run far more limited than even the Chroma--which is perhaps not surprising, as this was among the first computer interfaces for any such musical instrument.
If you have, or had, the Chroma Computer Interface, feel free to send me the serial number, if available (as I no longer have my interface card, I'm not sure whether the number appears on it; but it is shown on the diskette), and some information about it. It would be interesting to know how many of these kits still exist, and if any of them may even be in use. (If any are, I have one or two diskettes I could supply with some original patches I haven't heard since the 1980s.)"

Sugar Bytes Consequence
"CONSEQUENCE is the new member of our product family and it will make your tracks get a move on. Consequence is a chord groovebox, with a surprising depth of possibilities while being easy to use, due to an intuitive workflow. Chords are alternated, split up to custom arpeggios and turned into leg-driving basslines, amazing melodies or dreamy sound textures. The internal audio recorder keeps your ideas when they come or records loops or even full tracks. The allround soundlibrary contains all possible kinds of instruments, from thick basslines to gentle violines. Combine these with individual triggering options for unheard sequences full of joy and groove! Combine sound-presets and sequencer-presets, an unlimited source of inspiration. CONSEQUENCE is a composition tool which can create chordlines or whole songs on the fly, but also chords which are played via MIDI can be supersized using the innovative sequencing engine."

MOTM-190

via this auction
"The MOTM-190 is a dual VCA in a compact 1U format. VCA #1 can also be used as a Ring Modulator.
Voltage Controlled Amplifier #1 - Ring Mod
The top knob (marked BLEND) and switch (marked V and R) control VCA #1. If the switch is in the 'V' position, the circuit is a linear VCA. The BLEND control acts as an Initial Gain control, normalized to unity. If BLEND is all the way to the left (the IN position), the gain is unity ('1') and there is no modulation (the output equals the input). As the BLEND knob is turned clockwise, more and more of the CV modulates the signal. Fully clockwise (the RM position), the CV changes the gain from 0 to 1. This is 'standard' VCA operation.
If the switch is in the 'R' position, the circuit is a Ring Modulator. The BLEND control acts the same way as a Yamaha CS-80: all the way to the left, the output = the input. As BLEND is turned to the 'RM' position, the depth of the Ring Mod effect increases.
Voltage Controlled Amplifier #2
The second VCA is switchable between Linear and Exponential responses. The GAIN control sets the initial gain from 0 to 1. The CV MOD control ajusts the depth of AM for the VCA (in normal operation, the GAIN is set to '0' and the CV MOD is set to '10').
Although 'micro' in size, the MOTM-190 is a low-noise, low distortion, high dynamic range (better than 100dB) dual VCA. The Ring Modulator BLEND control is not found on any other modular.
