Tonal Plexus V7 Tritones in Just Intonation
YouTube via AaronAndrewHunt — April 21, 2010 —
"Dominant 7th chords contain a diminished 5th between the 3rd and 7th. This is often called a tritone, although tritones are, strictly speaking, always augmented 4ths, not diminished 5ths. The misnomer is indicative of the way pitches are named enharmonically in 12ET. In Just Intonation, a diminished 5th will never be an augmented 4th. In 12ET, two dominant chords can share the same pitches between their 3rds and 7ths, swapping roles of those pitches between the chords. This can't happen in Just Intonation. This video shows how in JI either the 3rd or 7th can be used as a common tone, but not both. NOTE: the captions in this video introduced blips into the audio for some reason and I couldn't fix it; sorry. The keyboard in this video belongs to the Berklee school of music in Boston, MA, and is used there by David Fiuczynski and his students. Find out more about the Tonal Plexus at www.h-pi.com"

Live at Moog is an innovative web video series featuring performances filmed at the legendary Moog Music factory in Asheville, North Carolina.
Bands are turned loose in Moog Music’s factory and encouraged to experiment with the incredible instruments designed and manufactured there, including the Theremin, analog synthesizers, effects pedals and the groundbreaking Moog Guitar. Each week a new session will debut on Pastemagazine.com’s homepage and on LiveatMoog.com. This season features Amanda Palmer, RJD2, Umphrey’s McGee, Joseph Arthur, Cage the Elephant, Evan Dando and Rogue Wave.
Each episode features multiple songs, behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive info on each band. Adding to the excitement, this season Moog is giving away a Moog Guitar signed by the Live At Moog artists to one lucky viewer.
'The second season of Live at Moog gives a rare glimpse into the magic that happens when great musicians connect with interesting new gear in the Moog sound studio. It's exciting for us to watch some of today’s most innovative artists play and experiment with our state-of-the-art analog instruments.” says Mike Adams, CEO of Moog Music. “We are proud to share these one-of-a-kind performances with music fans everywhere through our partnership with Paste Magazine.'

x0xb0x is back and shipping again
via adafruit"Adafruit is thrilled to be working with Willzyx Music, the x0xb0x is back. In our previous post & announcement we let everyone know that we would unable to support the project in the best way possible and we would be figuring out what we can do to help people get kits again. So, big news – we were very lucky enough to find someone who can devote the time, resources and support to x0xb0x – Meet James of Willzyx Music
'I just spent the last 10 years working in a San Francisco music shop and I really liked my job. I loved that I was helping people make music and that’s something that I still want to be a part of. Me and my wife have been making plans on moving to Taiwan for a number years and in 2009 we took the plunge. During 2009 I was selling completed x0xb0x’s on eBay under the name of bitcrusher76, it was a success and I am continuing on with the opening of my new web store willzyx.com.My goal with Willzyx Music is to keep supplying the x0xb0x community with Parts and Kits. I have spent the last year building up a stock pile of parts and will bring the Kits back at an affordable price. Any new projects that are produced from Willzyx will have the same MIT open source license, so you can hack, modify and commercialize any of Willzyx’s original designs.'"

2010-04-20 - XBase loves Kenny - Kenny's Death FX in action
YouTube via KeepUpOnIt — April 20, 2010 — "New gimmick just grabbed: Kenny's Death - some sort of analogue Fuzz Distortion Filter FX. First Test, fuzzing the Jomox XBase09.
You know the Metasonix TM-7 Scrotum Smasher FX box? Kennys Death is definitely not directly comparable to the TM-7, it's not tube-based and so its not anything close to a "copy" of the TM-7, but if you don't wanna spend the money for a TM-7, this red rabbit bastard is your friend. Its sooo cool, really solid (metall box with quality pots), fully analogue and also includes a cranky lowpass filter with seperate output (if you want). The first run was limited to 20 units for approximately 150€ a unit at the end, initially even "just" 130 € but its sold out. Seems like I got lucky.
Kenny will smash your ears really hard and is pure fun fun fun!
