"This is a very minimalistic test of the x0xb0x VCO2 mod I installed in February. Up to 02:15 VCO1 only, afterwards VCO+VCO2, at 03:55 some VCO2 detuning.

"Another very minimalistic video, just demonstrating the VCO1+VCO2 crossmodulation sound of the x0xi0 x0xb0x mod. Its so warm, I really like it. This is not a sequence, as you can see - the "gate on" switch on the left side is on and so gate is never released, which does cause this permanent sound. Some Jomox 888 sounds by gestures (not working correctly yet)
- Up to 00:30 VCO2 only, no xmod - 00:30 VCO2 only, modulated by VCO1 a bit - 00:56 VCO2 only, modulated by VCO1 a bit more - 02:16 VCO2 only, modulated by VCO1 even a bit more - 02:24 tuning VCO1 down and turning cross modulation off again - 02:43 tuning VCO2 up - 03:41 reversing x-mod from initial "VCO1 modulates VCO2" to "VCO2 modulates VCO1" - 03:44 turning VCO2 volume up, you hear VCO1 + VCO2 parallel, no X-MOD - 03:56 VCO1+VCO2 parallel, turning up VCO2 modulates VCO1 X-MOD
Listen loud, don't forget to turn bass up. If you don't like it, its not my fault, its the fault of a Beaver! If you like it or have questions - leave a comment or write a message. Bless the Voltage!"

Odd that the video didn't include more music apps? On the news front, Apple is opening up iOS to 3rd Party developer tools as long as the apps themselves do not download any code. via MacRumors.com. Also see CDM for an in depth post on what this might mean for music apps.
"We are continually trying to make the App Store even better. We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.
In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need."

via this auction "The Ciat-Lonbarde Cocolase System dual 8 Bit Delay, a truly unique delay system not for the light of heart. I ordered this from Ciat-Lonbarde a few years ago, it's in great working order and in great shape. I know there aren't a lot of these floating around, you might say that they are extremely rare.
The Cocolase has two 8 bit digital delays, but it does not just delay sounds, it recontextualizes them in different pitches, directions, all broken up or all melded together. Each delay has sensing inputs to control its speed, direction, and location. In the center of the Cocolase is a woven nest of 8 oscillators called a Sidrassi. The Sidrassi manifests many varieties of movement with which to control the delays.
"HOW TO: Make basic connections from your AS Oberkorn Analogue Sequencer [www.analoguesolutions.com] to your synth using: CV, Gate, & Filter.
This video shows the basic connections one can make to begin developing the elements of a sequence. In this video, the Oberkorn is using its internal clock and sending gate information to both the analog modular (Roland 100m) and the SCI Pro One monosynth.
CV (Pitch) and Gate information are used to develop a bass sound which is then enhanced by filter control via an Oberkorn voltage out strip."

"The first Buchla Box, using touch-sensitive pads or ports rather than a standard keyboard, was funded with a $500 grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. Today it's permanently ensconced at Mills College. On a side note, Buchla estimates it would easily go for $30,000. Buchla still tackles new designs — he has a multichannel filter that can serve as a Vocoder coming out next month — and his instruments, it seems, "don't depreciate at all, so they're good investments."
'But I prefer to build them for playing.'"
You can find the full interview on sfbg. Note Don Buchla will be performing with Alessandro Cortini at the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival (SFEMF) tonight [previously posted].
Lorne, aka kidtronic, asked what all modular synth geeks and sound tinkerers (myself included), wonder each time a new Moog product is announced - why don't they just make modules again? The market is growing and they could make a killing off them. I could be wrong but I'm guessing it's a combination of time, physical resources (manufacturing and people), prioritization, and size of the potential market. Modules are currently limited to people that have and/or want to build modulars. How big is that market? What would be the tipping point for them to consider modules and if so, what format? Eurorack is gaining popularity, but would it be sacrilege to go with Euro vs. the classic and original Moog format? Could they afford to do both? Technically you could design the guts for Euro and then mount them in both. Heck, you could make Mini-Moogerfoogers for the non modular market.
Moog could put a poll up but in doing so, it would mean they are considering it, and if it didn't pan out, they would be disappointing those that voted for it. That said, I thought I'd put up a few polls for fun. I'm doing these on the spur without much thought, so if I'm missing something obvious feel free to comment or shoot me an email (contact info on the bottom right). I went with Eurorack and Moog for the formats for now. If there is interest for other formats, don't vote and mention it in the comments or email me. I will add them. I don't want to dilute the poll with them unless there is genuine interest.
Spread the polls around so people see them. I included links to the embed code for those on other sites. Note there is no link back to MATRIXSYNTH, so you are safe. :) The polls are hosted on Polldady and I have to embed them as well. In order for the numbers to mean anything across sites, it's probably a good idea to have only one poll for each question.
Now the BIG assumption of course, is that the cost of the modules would be relative to Moogerfoogers as far as functionality vs. price.

"The Little Phatty Australian Redback Edition is a specially designed for the Australian outback. Inspired by the Redback spider, it boasts a unique Redback colour scheme featuring Redback graphics, black side panels, flashing red pitch and mod wheels (synced to the LFO!) along with a custom red LCD and LEDs.
Good looks aren’t enough to survive in the Australian Outback. In addition to classic Moog sound and design, this Little Phatty features a powerful CV (Control Voltage) output section that transforms it into the heart of a portable modular synthesis system. Use it to control Moogerfoogers and other analog gear.
The five 1/4" analog CV outputs include: - Gate (O to +5V) - Pitch (1 volt per octave) - Volume Envelope (0 to 5 Volts) - Filter Envelope (O to 5 Volts) - Mod Bus (Variable)
Sculpt Pitch/Volume envelopes CVs on the front panel by tweaking attack, decay, sustain and release parameters.
Send the Mod Bus sources (Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Ramp, sample & hold LFOs and Oscillator 2) to bring new life to other analog gear.
Use the Pitch CV output of an arpeggiating Little Phatty like an analog step-sequencer.
Combined with the standard Little Phatty CV inputs (Pitch, Volume, Filter and Gate), MIDI Clock Sync and MIDI-over-USB, the list of possible applications is as endless as your imagination.
To complete this special edition, each Little Phatty Australian Redback Edition is individually numbered 1- 200 making it an instant collector’s item.
"Australian artists and customers are a very passionate group, and have a huge appetite for synthesizers that inspire” said Lewis Chiodo, Company Director of Moog’s Australian distributor, Audio Chocolate. “Now, we have our very own special tribute to Australia. Australians, be proud of your part in the wonderful world of Moog.”
"Kenton Pro 2 CV & GATE convertor in good condition.
The converter has two completely independent sections - one called Channel A and the other Channel B - do not confuse these with the MIDI channels - each of Channel A & B can be operated independently from any MIDI channel. Allowing you to control two synths at the same time through separate midi channels.
2 AUX ports for each channel allowing you to control particular modifications on vintage synth through automation.
DIN sync convertor allowing you to sync up Vintage synths.E.G Roland TR-808,TR-606,TB-303.
Midi In,Out and Thru.
Now discontinued and rare - has been replaced by Kenton Pro 2000 which retails around £359 at places such as DV247.

"The Korg Wavestation is a great synthesizer for fantastic digital pad sounds. It came out 1990 and was actually developed by people from Sequential Circuits for Korg. The Wavestation reminds me of the M1 (similar hardware and similar basic sound), I think the Wavestation is also perfect for people who love the M1 as a synth. The Wavestation delivers similar synth sounds - but in better quality. It also has the same filter without resonance. Despite of this, it can sound amazing.
It's definitely not a "Music Workstation".
Like on the Roland D-50, the Vector stick is very useful to vary the sounds a little bit. That's important, because editing sounds on the WS is not easy. All in all, a fantastic inspiring instrument. If I must choose between WS and D-50, I would vote for the WS.
Many people played the Wavestation: Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Michael Cretu (Enigma), Peter Oxendale, Jan Hammer, Tony Banks (Genesis)...
In the video I show you some of my favourite sounds. Enjoy!
I played the Wavestation without any additional effects or eq. All you hear is coming straight out of the Korg WS."

"NES system modded to be stereo. Here is how it works. The audio from the chip normally takes 2 channels and mixes them to mono. I have taken each channel and seperated them so you get a great stereo effect. The left channel has the square wave oscillators. The right channel has the triangle wave oscillator and the noise channel.
The potentiometers mix them and adjust the stereo seperation of the mix. The RCA jacks have been added to the back of it. I also replaced the red LED with a sexy blue one. This comes with the power adapter, NES system, and 1 controller. The NES itself is in pretty good shape, there are some scratches but nothing uncommon. I will clean the 72 pin connector before it goes out. You will experience issues loading cartridges from time to time. In my opinion this is pretty good for loading carts. Please make sure to clean your cartridges before using this. It will keep the blue screen problems from happening."

"MOOGFEST 2010 ANNOUNCES DEVO AS RECIPIENT OF MOOG INNOVATION AWARD
AWARD TO BE PRESENTED AT MOOGFEST, OCTOBER 29-31 IN ASHEVILLE, NC
The Moog Innovation Award celebrates pioneering artists whose genre-defying work exemplifies the bold, innovative spirit of Bob Moog. Moog Music would like to congratulate DEVO on being the 2010 recipient of The Moog Innovation Award, to be presented to the band during MoogFest 2010 weekend, October 29-31 in Asheville, NC. As part of this award, Moog Music will present DEVO with a very special synthesizer, details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks. Past recipients of the previously titled Moog Award include Keith Emerson, Herb Deutsch, Gershon Kingsley, Jan Hammer and Bernie Worrell.
“MoogFest is about shunning limitations, opening your mind and rejoicing in what’s next. MoogFest is about celebrating the marriage of technology and art, fearlessly embracing the future while respecting the genre-definers of the past. That’s why we created the Moog Innovation Award, to celebrate artists that helped to catapult pop music into the future and commemorate those artists that boldly burst through established norms to pave the way forward. That’s the spirit of Bob Moog and that’s the essence of the Moog Innovation Award.
The first recipient of the Moog Innovation Award is DEVO and we feel that they are a perfect representation of innovative sound-sculpting and genre-defying electronic music. Like Bob Moog, DEVO enthusiastically charted their own course and thus dramatically affected pop culture because of it. Not to mention the fact that they used Moog instruments to create their inimitable sound. MoogFest and the Moog Innovation Award is the perfect way to pay homage to Bob Moog and his adopted hometown of Asheville, NC where he raised his kids, gave birth to some of his greatest inventions and where he re-established the company that bears his name and carries on his legacy, Moog Music.” – Emmy Parker, Moog Music
DEVO, along with many more internationally renowned performers known for pushing creativity towards new dimensions, will play MoogFest 2010, a three-day festival celebrating the innovative vision of Bob Moog. "Hi lovely Synthfreaks all over the world. This is a new song, I hear it on the radio, later I make a sequence on my GRP A 8 and play the minimoog. But I don`t
know what `s the title of this song. Can you help me?"
The Pro-One is one of my favorite monophonic analog synths ever.. The sound is very different to the Moog sound but also powerfull. The internal step sequencer is very easy to use. The bass and sync-sounds are fantastic."
"The original one was in a really bad way [green board below]. Most of the traces were damaged, the "repair" was something that constituted tinfoil, glue, and green paint, and the components were not correct... Hmmm. That won't do at all. I crafted a new board, and with the later three capacitor design, which is more stable... After the design and photo exposure process, we etch the copper off of the board..." "Original box and manual. has a trigger in and a coord. in (which basically means a gate) The trigger in means you can trigger the drum pad from any kind of external input. the "gate" input means that you can "open the gate" of another sound using the envelope of the drum pad. pretty cool features for such a gadget!"
"The Book of sound is a custom work in the filanthropoid series which includes such work as the bugs, the insectariums, the growling insect, the pendulum translator, the archnid, the octa-hedra. the transporter and many more.
These patchable works in the Filanthropoid series provide evan more possibilites than previous units. This Beauty has been hand-crafted with durability and ease of play in mind.
The sound produced by these monsters is phenomenal and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimey sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly randon bits, waves, hums, drones ,crackles, yips can be rediscovered time and again and then there are those moments you will most likely never rediscover.
This particular piece features four patchable knobs, two with common center points and a twelve point patchbay. This allows you to determine function and provides tons of flexibility. In addition, There's are two more knobs (global control and power kill), glowing lamp power indicator , 2 folktek button/switches for activate and freeze mode sections, light sensitive photo-control , reset, 1/4" output, built in battery pack, basic manual of function and layout.
You'll be able to cipher through waveforms and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Super sensitive knobs let you filter through tons of sounds and glitchscapes. Albums are waiting to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find. A heavanly palette of glitchscapes await.
These works have a sound that no other sythesizer on the planet will produce. The synth design is controllable Chaos.
