AS Oberkorn MK3 Tutorial #04 - Ring Modulation to Binary Input
YouTube via rezfilter | September 19, 2010
"HOW TO: Patch ring modulation out or a single, raw VCO out to the BINARY INs of an Analogue Solutions [www.analoguesolutions.com] Oberkorn sequencer to dramatically alter the sonic impact and tonality of your sequences.
In this video, a simple 16 step SCI Pro One bassline is started as normal, and is then altered by the ring modulation of a Roland 100m patched into the various BINARY INs of the Oberkorn.
Any synth with ring mod out, or a simple raw VCO out. will exhibit similar results. There's a 5v max input level on the oberkorn's INs, so use caution and a little common sense when experimenting!
Have fun."

Dave Young (aka henderson) - Radius Music, Generative Audiovisual Device 2010
YouTube via MediaArtTube | September 20, 2010
"Two devices are situated in the room, documenting sonically and visually the dynamic real-time readings taken from the rotation ultrasonic distance sensors. As people walk in and out of the room that these devices will be placed in, they will alter the readings of distance, and therefore, the sounds too.
Radius Music combines ideas of cartography and graphic scores as a means to produce sound. The device itself is an autonomous revolving machine that reads a distance value in real-time between itself and another object. As the machine slowly rotates and scans the room, it takes this radial distance and outputs it as a relative sonic frequency and a corresponding visual score.
The synthesis techniques used to generate the audio include Frequency Modulation and Additive Synthesis, with phasing effects providing a procedural rhythmic element. The circular rotation of the piece evokes an idea of early sample culture - each device plays a loop of sound approximately 3 seconds long, sampling the position of people and objects in the space.
Built using Arduino, PureData, and Processing.

"2 Synthi AKS linked together by Matrix Pin Jumpers. Each KS keyboard controls osc.1,2,3, filter and decay of its synth, KS on the right also conrols Ring Mod. Synthi A (on the right) osc1 gets a cv from both KS keyboards & cv from Synthi A (left) osc3's ramp wave. KS seq (right) is also sending a cv to Synthi A's osc2 (left). KS seq (left) is also sending cv to SynthiA's osc2 (right). There's a close-up of each matrix patch @ 8:24. The red pin jumpers are taking the cv ... & the orange pin jumpers are delivering it. Everything was recorded dry, directly into my Sony Handycam. Some synthi reverb creeps in briefly @ 5:05. The only overdub is a little joysticking @ 7:00-7:45"

Can record in real time and loop or mix between four sequences or can be recorded in step mode for an accurate quantised feel. Can be synced with both the roland CR-8000 (TR-808 sounding drum machine) or the Future Retro Revolution (analogueTB-303 clone)"

Freqing Out- by FSD (A love song for TSF)
YouTube via FatSynthDude | September 18, 2010
Hmm... I'm guessing TSF is obviously TheSynthFreq. This post gets credit for the Synth Romance label, although the first post I believe goes to synthfrau aka synthiefrau on YouTube. No, love for synths does not count otherwise every single post would get the label. Video description from FatSynthDude on YouTube:
"Nothing too fancy going on here. This was all done in one take, so it's a little sloppy. (I never said I was a great musician and I definitely never said I was good at copping the styles of the 80's!) Just a little something in tribute to a very entertaining decade as well as to everybody's favorite 80's synth addict. ;-)
I tried to be as authentic to the decade as possible in regards to synths, however a lot of my gadgets (especially drum machines, mixers, and effects) were made in the 90's or the 00's. :-(
Vermona DRM-1 mkIII - Drums
Sequential Pro One - Bass
Akai AX60 - Pads
Siel DK600 - Lead (kinda buried in this mix)
Prophet 600 - Sync synth line the guitar is playing
Schecter Devil Elite - The guitar itself
Line 6 Pod X3 Pro - Guitar effects
Roland GR-30 - Guitar to MIDI converter
I've actually got two mixes of this song with the one in the video being the latter of the two. The original version was mixed while it was recording, was sent through some hardware effects processors, and sent to tape. The mix in the video came about because of a little happy accident in recording. The StudioLives allow me to archive everything to the computer, so I make it a habit of recording EVERYTHING. In the process of this, I was recording the signal coming out of the guitar through the Pod in case I decided later to send the guitar through a different synth or just wanted to correct something with the synth line later (hooray for audio-MIDI conversion!) I accidentally left the amp simulation switched on and I happened to like the result. I remixed the whole thing in Reaper with software effects, turned the Prophet 600 down in the mix, and put the guitar track over it so that the sync sound is more like an effect.
Also, because the patch being used on the Prophet 600 is in unison mode, and guitar to MIDI conversion is finicky, the P600 doesn't always trigger when it's supposed to. Kind of a neat effect in this context, imo.
Hope you all like it, and if you don't, keep it to yourselves because my skin is thinner than paper. :-D
...I just noticed that you can make out Audrey Hepburn's reflection in my guitar during certain points of the vid. XD"

Lets Get LoFi 7 - Yamaha Pss380 + Ps55
YouTube via ChrisLody | September 19, 2010
"The Yamaha pss380 is a FM synth home keyboard with some basic editing functions via 7 sliders, it matches the pss390 in all but its colours. I recently dug it out of the attic and began playing around with its synth edit functions and more or less randomly made up this string sound. The good thing about the pss380 is that some of its presets are stereo which is achieved by hard panning and detuning its voices. It retains this stereo effect even when editing so it can be very useful. It has the affect of reducing the polyphony to 4 from 8 on these presets.
To get this string sound on the pss380 do the following:
Select preset 41, turn off dual voice, turn on the digital synth feature, then set the sliders to Spec. 2, Mod. 7/8, Att. 4, Dec. 1, Rel. 1, Vib.7, Vol. 7
The Ps55 is being used again in this video. Here i'm using it mainly for it arpeggio feature which only has one sound and 2 variations but is still quite nice. Usefully you can fade the auto bass and drums down and just have the arp playing. Later on i play the Accordian and Fantasy sounds layered together. The Solo sounds on the Ps55 are monophonic and it always plays the top note so can behave a bit like a duophonic synth."

"showing midi controller triggering sounds."
"the little keys"
"effects processor for external input"
"This is a weird little box made by Farfisa. It's a groove box like machine from the 1990's. I really don not know much about it and web stuff is salesman pitch information. What I do know; all the sounds are from the Roland Sound Canvas's of the 1990's and they even have the same name. They only sounds that are the same is any Roland specific sound (The 808 bank is called Analog). There are 128 sounds plus the drum kits. The little keyboard is funky, you do not use it in real time to control sounds. You do use it to set up your orchestration pitch or the key you desire in chord patterns, see video. To use the sounds you must hook a midi controller (see video), it's a sound module as well. A really cool feature is the mic/audio inputs, you can ran a signal through the built in effect processor(see video) or the vocal harmonization(no video, I do not have a mic, but I have processed a signal trough it, to ensure that it works). The internal sequencer is a 16 track sequencer but not really, you get for 4 banks and 4 tracks each.(intro, break[intro], outro[intro], verse, chorus1, chorus2) If you use an external sequencer, you only get three tracks per sequence, 2 of the sounds banks share the same midi channel and I have not figured out away around this, the midi is mapped out goofy. All the presets are editable, there is an effects processor for the built in sounds as well, a mixer for drums, all 4 sounds banks, and audio inputs. The unit uses 3.5 disk, I will include about 100 blank disk. The OS is already loaded in the machine and you do not have load in it ever again(backups OS disk included). I bought this on ebay under the false pretense that it has a sampler, it does not. There is a sample section, but it's for "sampling" sounds off sounds disk that were once made for this.
* 16 track sequencer
* 4 audio outputs
* 2 mic/line inputs for vocal harmonizer or effects processor
* Manual included plus 100 disk
* Drums are either preset or user manual
* Fully programmable and editable"
