Cat stuck in organ

Cat stuck in organ by ununseptiumwarehouse
"I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced the effects of having a cat stuck in a tonewheel organ. It made this hideous wail every time I hit a bum note (continuously)."

via Alan: "Just in case anyone anyone was ever under any doubt of the marvelous range of sounds one can elicit from the humble Casiotone 1000P early (pre DX7) additive synth." Well, almost... An update via Alan: "I have to hold my hands up and confess. It was going through a Doepfer A-125 VC Phase Shifter and then through an ancient Digitech BP8 (valve bass pre-amp & multi fx pedal). Apart from that though it was just the Casio and the cat!"

I liked it so much I asked him if he has ever thought about doing it for commission.. I told him my three favorite obsessions and three days later he showed up with this piece framed!! Really blew me away and I thought others on here may want to have Albert do pieces for them.. The synthi and the EMS logo GLOWS IN THE DARK!!! is e-mail is.. kidakuo at gmail.com"

Waldorf MicrowaveXT Panel - WIP - Software Editor

via CTRLR.org

"Obviously still a work in progress but wanted to share what I've started - The challenge here was to provide a controller for every parameter on the waldorf XT including all those (quite a few) not controllable via the synth. Although there are lots of knobs on the actual synth there are even more parameters that can only be accessed via MIDI."

Chip Maestro - An NES MIDI Synthesizer Cartridge

"The Chip Maestro is a finished product up on Kickstarter, and it's seeking backers!
The Chip Maestro is a special NES cartridge that turns the NES into a synthesizer. You can play it using a MIDI keyboard or a USB to MIDI converter. By directly manipulating the NES CPU's sound circuitry, all sounds played through this cartridge are authentic NES tones! This is as realistic to the 8-bit era as you can get with live sound. Previous trackers have been able to play music, but all of them required pre-composition. This cartridge lets you do improvs and solos during live shows, or fiddle around with new tunes. I hope to get it into every chiptune artist's hands soon. Thanks for your support!"

Update via Jarek: "The advantage of the Chip Maestro over the MIDInes is its availability and price.

The Chip Maestro will support parameter changes to all sound channels of the NES. If you pledge at any level, you will get first look at the technical documents, and be able to propose changes/improvements that you would like, such as which parameter changes are important, and how they would be best implemented."

Shifting seasons

YouTube Uploaded by skoulaman on May 9, 2011

"This song is based again on a 2x8 note sequence from the Doepfer Dark Time with almost the same settings for the Waldorf micro Q. At about 0.50 there comes the Moog LP in with a LFO sweep of the moogerfooger CP251 (wich is connected to the cv-out of de DDT). At about 1.00 there the hands came in for chords produced with the Roland Juno 106 and a old piano sound from the Yamaha DX 27. Also the Korg Lambda is used. I called it ambient electro but may be you think otherwise. The title has to do with the fact that the weekend I made this track the temperature in the Netherlands was almost the hottest of whole Europe and it is just spring??"

M-RGT Psybox 1.1 demo

YouTube Uploaded by RanKirlian on May 9, 2011

"Brief demo of the new update for M-RGT Psybox 1.1, a space-atmospheric soundscape generator - made to produce sounds, which can be used to create Ambient and Space Music.

psyBOX uses the samples as a source of spectra splitting them into multiple grains-micro waves and combining them in clusters. Those clusters are formed randomly and they flow from one into another forming infinite drifting morphing.

new version 1.1 features a multieffect processor, a great modulation matrix, 3 LFOs and a step sequencer."

Roland system 100 expander 102 semi-modular synthesizer

via this auction

"The unit runs at 220v.The System 100 is a semi-modular monophonic synth consisting of 5 module components: the Synthesizer 101, Expander 102, Mixer 103, Sequencer 104, and Monitor Speakers 109. The Synthesizer 101 section is the heart of the system, from which you could add-on any of the other modules of your choice. Different combinations of these components can be used to create systems of varying potential.

Controls for the VCO, LFO, VCF lowpass/highpass filters, VCA with ADSR, Noise, sample & hold and ring modulator are all within hands reach. There's also a handy A-440Hz tuning oscillator, like on the Minimoog.

The Expander 102 section is a keyboard-less version of the keyboard (101) module and is designed to stand upright behind it. More than one Expander 102 can be added to make your system fatter and fatter! The Expander is identical to the Synthesizer except that it replaces Portamento/Glide effects with a Sample-and-Hold feature for the LFO, the Noise gen. is replaced by a Ring Modulator, and the A-440 tuning osc. is replaced by weak/strong sync inputs and a mix-in jack. The Expander is an excellent way to add more oscillators and synth effects (the s&h and ring-mod) to a System 100. The oscillators can be synced if you have both modules. The 101 & 102 are already internally patched and ready to produce sounds, but that can be bypassed by external patching."

Gary Numan's First Exposure To Synths & The Minimoog

via Under the Radar where you'll find the full interview.

"It was a very happy accident. I was in a band called Tubeway Army and we were a three-piece punk band. We went into a studio to make a record and we had three days to go and make it, which was the punk songs we were playing live. I went to the studio, never having seen a synthesizer before, and round the corner was a thing called a Minimoog which was quite a famous synthesizer. It was supposed to be collected by a hire company because somebody had rented it the day before and they’d forgotten about it. They never turned up so I started using it all day for this first day and I just loved it; I didn’t know much about them but I was having fun working it out and thought these amazing noises were coming out of this thing. I just thought it was the best thing I had ever heard.
I went to the record company and told them I’d found this synthesizer thing which was amazing and this was what I wanted to use for the future and so all those punk songs are going to be electronic punk songs, and I don’t want to be in a band anymore, I want to be a solo artist. I thought I had found something really special! The record company were really unhappy to be honest, they didn’t get it at all, they wanted a punk band and that’s it. Luckily for me they didn’t have any money so they couldn’t afford to send me back into the studio because I’d blown the budget. So they released it and it did a lot better than they expected, so they let me go back into the studio and make another album. So I went back into the studio and made another album. And then we had a single from this album that went to number one, so I went from having never seen a synthesizer before to becoming the ‘number one expert on synthesizers’ in the UK. I had a number one electronic album and people were talking about me being an electronic expert and all that, and I’d only spent about eight hours with a synthesizer because I couldn’t afford to buy one. I had the one that was left behind in the studio that first day, and we could only afford to rent one again for one more day when I made the second album, so I didn’t know much about it at all. In those early days people would ask me questions about synthesizers and programming and I didn’t know what they were talking about, and yet I was supposed to be a champion of this sound."
