JLR's Stand-in Test
video upload by John L Rice
"Because I'm stubborn and silly, I made a 'stand-in' to try to get better focus when recording video of myself. It's silly because I have decent auto-focus lenses and my cameras have good face tracking BUT my most expensive lenses are manual only cinema lenses that aren't well suited for doing solo operator work in front of the camera, but because I think they are cool and I invested a lot of money in them I insist on using them, even when it's not practical! ππ
The music here is from beta test I did last year for a new Synthesis Technology E430 VCF that is now in production. "

New Pete Townsend Synth Studio at the University of West London
This one is in via John L Rice via John Fisher.
via The University of West London where you'll find the full article.

The collection includes some of the most influential instruments in the development of electronic music. It comprises 12 principal synthesisers including the ARP Model 2500 (1970), used on 'Quadrophenia', and the rare and sought-after Yamaha GX-1 (1975), one of only 10 made with a retail price of over 60,000 USD on release, plus many other instruments played by Townshend throughout his career.
'It’s my hope that the studio will be a creative space for learning, collaboration, experimentation and play, inspired by the musical and artistic legacy of Ealing, an area integral to the development of British music in the 1960s,' said Pete Townshend."
Pictured: ARP 2500 & EMS SYNTHI 100.
One more "Synth Museum" to add to my destination list. :)
You can find additional posts mentioning Pete Townsend here.

John L Rice 5U “slew plugs”
video upload by John L Rice
"Sometimes I might want to add a little glide/slew/portamento to a sequence or keyboard part but don’t have a slew module handy or it’s already being used. With these I can just plug the CV source in and out of a multiple (or Y cable) along with the slew plug that best suits the tempo and effect I want.
These were inspired by a thread on the ModWiggler 5U forum. I simply soldered an electrolytic capacitor between the terminals of a modified 1/4” plug (I cut the ground/strain relief short) and then put some heat shrink on them and labeled with a Sharpie. I capacitor used values 10, 22, 47, and 100 Β΅F."
