Schopfung

Published on May 15, 2013 RADIOKLOW·85 videos

"Schopfung is a collective work of electroacoustic music and video I conceived with the students of Philosophy and Electronic Music Workshop I created and have been supervising for two years in Lycée Edouard Herriot of Lyon. This work explores the question of natural and artistic beauty through music and image ans is based on a famous meditation of Hegel about this problem in his Aesthetics."

Some additional details including the synths used throughout the piece via Marc-Henri:

"As it vas programed, the students and I presented our work during a performance monday evening at 17h30 at the theatre of our High School (Lycée Edouard Herriot, in the city of Lyon).

We divided the performance in various pats : a first piece of music and video you will find here, a first live improvised set, a second video and music piece (Hadikat Raja XXI you already know because the students thought it fitted with our theme) and a last short improvised set. The live sets will be presented apart un a single video.

Here is the collective work of music and video by which we began.

Is is called Schopfung (Creation) un reference to Haydn's oratorio, Die Schopfung,(The Creation). Our them was the question of natural and artistic beauty after the mediations of Hegel about it in his Aesthetics. The idea of a link between this philosophical program and the concept of creation was suggested to us by fabulous recordings of electromagnetic waves from the solar system planets achieved by Voyager I and II during the seventies.

We used natural recorded sounds, various synths, and voices of two student girls members of the group.

Here is the approximative timetable of our various sound and music tracks. (All sounds except the natural sounds and the girls voices and the Bulgarian voices of Voices of Passion by Eastwest ,are original creations of the various instruments - when a sound, natural of coming out a synth or a natural voice is treated by the GRM Tools, I always give this precision)

I send you my best friendly regards,
Marc-Henri

Little Phatty : 01:28-01:50, 03:53-04:20 : ring like sounds

MIDIPolis Io Jupiter 4 MIDI retrofit

http://midipolis.blogspot.com/p/manuals.html

"Io User Manual
1. Introduction
Io is a MIDI retrofit system for the Roland Jupiter 4 synthesizer. It consists of two boards that can be used either parallel or individually.
One of the boards is the Keyboard Assigner Extension and it enables MIDI control over pitch note, pitch bend, cutoff frequency, volume and portamento. It also synchronizes the arpeggio to MIDI clock and has two powerful LFOs on pitch bend and cutoff frequency. LFO settings are storable and recallable.
The other board is a complete replacement of the Jupiter's original patch programmer microprocessor with full MIDI specification and lots of functional enhancements.

Mister 1-2-3-4 MophoGUI VST3 - Free, Open-Source Editor/Librarian Plugin for the DSI Mopho

video upload by Mister 1-2-3-4 Programming

MophoGUI VST3 version 1.0.0 is now available for free download at https://programming.mr1234.com/mophogui-vst3/.

"Putting MophoGUI VST3 To Work: A Song Built with Mopho Sounds Plus FX

As a use-test of the MophoGUI VST3 plugin, I created this slow, atmospheric acid jam using only sounds generated by the Mopho desktop analog synthesizer module plus various effects boxes and plugins (compression, reverb, delay, phasing). In the first half of the video, I scroll through the Reaper project and reveal the various audio and MIDI tracks that went into creating the song. In the latter half, I isolate each of the Mopho sounds and display the MophoGUI editor settings used to create them. Program parameters that were automated to change over the course of the recording are circled in red."

Interface minus audio

video upload by Mister 1-2-3-4 Programming

"MophoGUI is a VST3 plugin designed to be used with the Mopho desktop analog synthesizer module, manufactured by Dave Smith Instruments between 2008 and 2015. It presents all of the Mopho’s program parameters in a single editor window, lets you edit them within your DAW, allows for the automation of parameter changes, and lets you store and recall both factory and custom programs. At this time, MophoGUI is only functional within Cockos’ Reaper (version 6 and later) and Steinberg’s Cubase (version 10 and later). This video explains how to set up the plugin in those two DAWs.

00:00 Intro
00:22 Global Parameter settings on the hardware
01:17 Installing the plugin
01:27 Setting up tracks in Reaper
02:15 Setting up tracks in Cubase
03:24 Loading and editing sounds on the hardware via the plugin interface

MophoGUI is distributed free and open source under the GPL v3 license. You can download it and get more information about the code at https://programming.mr1234.com/ If you find the plugin useful, please consider making a donation at the same website to support further development!

THIS PLUGIN DOES NOT GENERATE AUDIO. It simply provides editing and automation capabilities for the Mopho desktop hardware module. If you do not possess that module, the plugin is of no use to you. It is not compatible with the keyboard model.

I have no association with either Dave Smith Instruments or Sequential Circuits. These companies bear no responsibility for MophoGUI and cannot provide any form of support for it."

"Enhancements in this version:

- Compatible with Reaper (version 6 and up) and Cubase (version 10 and up)

- All sound parameters are exposed and can be automated and/or controlled via external devices.

- Six program storage banks: three read-only Factory banks which hold the original program presets that shipped with the hardware, and three Custom banks where you can store your own programs.

- The ability to copy-and-paste programs between slots in the Program Banks window.

- Specific wave shapes can be selected directly by holding down a number key and clicking an Oscillator Shape knob.

- Floating tooltip windows appear when you hover the mouse over a parameter control for a few moments. You can change the amount of time before the tips appear or turn them off entirely.

- More polished look-and-feel."

SUPERBOOTH17 Event Details

"The first European Trade Fair for electronic musical instruments, will be taking place from April 20th to 22nd for the 2nd time at FEZ-Berlin.

- 170 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries -
- 120 events, 25 concerts per day -
- guests coming from more than 40 countries -

SUPERBOOTH17 is also a cultural event with concerts, workshops, 'Gesprächskonzerten' (performance/talks), providing insights into the world of electronic music and the panel discussion SOOPERtalk. SUPERBOOTH17 offers a lot more than a normal trade fair.

1. The Event program is set:
The trained trumpet player Colin Benders from the Netherlands shows that modular systems have arrived in mainstream composing. The renowned musician - also working with the Kyleman Orchestra - concludes the first evening in front of a standing audience, performing thru the quadrophonic PA in Konzertsaal 1 (K1). The system will see it's inauguration at 7pm by Max Loderbauer and a well known acquaintance by means of a four channel performance.

Also on Friday and Saturday there’s a flock of nondescript notables coming and going in a continuous stream: Frank Bretschneider, Schneider TM, (also (F.) Schneider (Senior) has been invited), Alec Empire, T.Raumschmiere, Matt Didemus (Junior Boys), Jay Ahern, Skinnerbox, the Teichmann Brothers, Gudrun Gut, Ströme (formerly laBrassBanda), Mouse on Mars and others are either on the line up or will be our guests.

This year we will create significantly more space for Women's electronic music. After the SOOPERtalk, two thirds of the nightly program is female-cast. Daily at 1:30pm basic courses by and for Women only are taking place at the Eve - Lounge, with Jessica Kert of SchneidersLaden defining the principles of subtractive synthesis where every day we will have experienced female musicians as guests to explain Examples of usage on location.

2. SOOPERtalk: Nobody here likes to be famous:

During all three evenings from 8-9pm, some less or more well known, but always proficient guests will address issues of our importance as part of community. Hosted by journalist of taz and M&R papers, we are going to investigate the social position we take as a group of creatives. SOOPERtalk should be seen as event embedded in the event and is kindly supported by Musicboard Berlin. If necessary the talks and lectures will be translated into English.

M&R (Melodie & Rhythmus) editor-in-chief Susann Witt-Stahl hosts the first evening, debating political aspects of music with her guests. The 2nd evening is devoted entirely to Creation and is hosted by Jens Uthoff of taz. What kinds of spaces do exist for societal and artistic visions? Together with the Teichmann Brothers we have managed to invite very interesting guests for this discussion.

3. Book your DIY Workshop tickets now:

Binding bookings for the DIY workshops are now available and limited to 16 participants each.
The cost for participation in the DIY workshops depends on individual construction kit prices.
All other workshops thru out the day (incl. 1pm) may be reserved with your standard visitor ticket as long as places are available.

Similar to last year, a live stream running from 12am to 12pm will be provided for absent but interested parties, however, this time representing ALL relevant concerts and presentations.

For the night hours there will be more program at C-Base, in the Maze Club (Thursday & Friday) and on the final night at Ohm in Tresor.

Please find more details on the 3 day schedule on our website and keep yourselves up to date by subscribing to our newsletter at www.superbooth.com

SUPERBOOTH17 Update

An update on SUPERBOOTH17 set for April 20 - 22 in Berlin:

"Berlin, March 2017: SUPERBOOTH17 at FEZ-Berlin

SUPERBOOTH is the first European trade fair for electronical music instruments. The second annual edition will be held from April 20th to April 22nd 2017, at a new location, FEZ-Berlin.

The timetable for SUPERBOOTH17 is getting tight! And with now more than 160 exhibitors from 22 countries there will be even more to discover at this year’s edition. You can already start to plan your trip through FEZ Berlin on our online floor plan and find your favorite exhibitors. Next to the long- known companies like Yamaha, Korg and Roland we set the focus on small and ambitious companies like Mutable Instruments and Oscillosaurus, who will join Superbooth for the first time.

Next to a whole lot of presentations, performances and concerts we were able to get Gudrun Gut to play some live shows with her project Monika Werkstatt. Within this series there will be daily improvised concerts during the evenings, played on lent instruments from our exhibitors. In general, the program will be more diverse at SUPERBOOTH17 with us trying to contribute to the idea of getting more women into the genre of electronic music and the development of electronic instruments. Therefore we are preparing daily workshops held by women for women.
We will have additional workshops in Konzertsaal 2, which are open to everyone and give you the opportunity to build your own synthesizer module or even whole musical instruments. These workshops will be professionally hosted from 11 a.m. and will be held by exhibiting companies like Moog, 4MS and Leaf Audio. You can buy tickets for the workshops on superbooth.com and you don’t need an additional Trade Fair ticket. Although we absolutely recommend attending at another day to enjoy everything else SUPERBOOTH17 has to offer and we also recommend staying for the evening program and enjoy the special concerts and talks we are planning.

To make sure that there will still be people around in twenty or fifty years from now, knowing what analog electrical musical instruments are and how they are engineered, we set up workshops for school classes to learn something about electronics and how to use synthesizers. The results of these workshops will be presented by the children on one of our stages at 12.20 p.m. every day.

As you can see, there will be a lot to learn and discover next to all the new and exciting instruments and electronics that our exhibitors are presenting. For further details and updates about the program or to buy tickets please visit our website: superbooth.com

Due to the dimensions of the building and safety reasons there is only a limited quantity of 1-Day- Tickets. We recommend ordering these tickets as soon as possible.

Roland CR-8000 Analog Drum Machine User Programing

YouTube via SantaElena. via synthzoom.
"This is a quick demonstration of user programing on a Roland CR-8000 Analog Drum Machine.

First I show how to clear a pattern by holding the note and rest buttons at the same time until the LED for the selected user program blinks, it takes about 3 seconds.
Then I select the Bass drum and program a pattern. Each sequence uses 32 steps, on step 1 and 17 you have both red and green LEDs lit over by the start stop button. On steps 5,9,13,21,25,29 you have just the green LED lit, indicating quarter notes of the 2 bar pattern.

Then I program a hihat pattern, and while paying that I use the Preset instrument pattern buttons to add a clap and some cymbal variations. Each of the top most buttons only adds one instrument in a preset pattern and overrides what you have progamed as long as it is engaged. Very easy to have pattern variations on this machine.

You can erase any individual instrument pattern by just selecting that instrument and pressing rests through the pattern, but you can also just program another pattern over it the notes / rests you punch in will be saved.

There are some other cool tricks in this machine, like selecting two patterns to play at the same time, the programmable and preset Intro/fill in patterns (4 user patterns, 32 steps each) with the auto fill in being able to set the to play every 2, 4, 8, 12, or 16 measures, or off to trigger it manually, if you hit the manual button with the machine stopped, it will play the intro pattern then go into the selected pattern. The rest button becomes a crash button when in play mode, so when switching patterns or coming out of a fill in a crash will sound on the first beat.

The Register button becomes a A/B pattern kind of thing where you select a Preset or user pattern, or any pair of patterns to play simultaneously, then press the Register button and it flashes, and you pick one or two other patterns, then during playback, you hit the register key and it will switch between the two sets.

The register button has a foot switch jack in the rear, and the unit also has a trigger out which is selectable between 8 note, 16 note, or accent pattern (programmable trigger!) the manual has a really cool trick where you connect the triger out to the register footswitch and select two different patterns to get toggled by the trigger.

Really nuts machine. Makes me think twice about auctioning it.

be sure to check out the videos showing the controls on the top. coming soon."

Hidden Voices on the Breakaway Music Vocalizer 1000 Synthesizer Demo

Published on Aug 30, 2014 oberek92

This track appears to have been made on the Breakaway Music Vocalizer 1000 using some of it's hidden voices. According to LucyTuning:

"The Breakaway Vocalizer 1000 is a MIDI pitch-tracker, and sample player, which I had used for analysing dolphin vocalisations. Unfortunately it seems to have been marketed as a toy for karaoke fans. It is claimed to track and playback to the nearest 32nd of a semitone, and although it is now old technology, I find it fun, so here is what I have discovered about its hidden voices. (certainly not General Midi).

GM (program numbers) and sounds

Check it with your sequencer. These program numbers work with Music-X on Amiga (my old favourite) yet some sequencers may transpose the program numbers by one position: so that Piano is 0 and Rap Drum is 73 etc.
