Korg Monologue and Pocket Operator PO-35 Speak jam - Brian Leahy

Published on Jun 5, 2018 Brian Leahy Art

"Monophonic Melody Makers / Battery-powered Buddies

Instruments:

Korg Monophonic Analogue Synth
Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-35 Speak

Backstory:

The PO-35 Speak and the Korg Monologue play very well together! Bonus: they're both able to be powered by batteries. Had a blast jamming the other night and this tune appeared. (Love the weird breakdown midway through). I think these guys might work so well together in part because melody-wise, they are both monophonic, creating a great complement for playing live (a situation where us humans only have so many hands).

Monophonic means that only 1 sound can be played at a time. (In the case of the PO-35 Speak, technically, it has a monophonic drum track that is separate from the monophonic melody track- they can play at the same time, but individually those tracks are restricted to playing one note at any given time).

So, what you can do with this setup in the video is program a melody (and beat in the PO-35 Speak) to play in the sequencers of both instruments. I leave the sequencers going throughout the song. Whenever I play something on top of the sequencers, the sequencers are temporarily silenced because the instruments are monophonic. As soon as you stop playing the new part the sequencer comes back on. This results in the ability to have 2 separate parts to a song without switching things manually."

You can find a few demos of the KEYTEK CTS 2000 in the archives.

"The CTS 2000 is a sound designers dream taking the Transwave wavetable concept such as the Ensoniq Fizmo and comes with a hybrid of wavetables and analog resonant CEM filters like the Waldorf Microwave 1.

If you're into ambient atmospheric and organic sounds or a hybrid of between the two this synth is an undiscovered gem! Think Boards of Canada meets Aphex Twin with those digital textures warping into the gritty analog filters. Comprised of 8bit waveforms there's two oscilators per voice with eight voices and plenty of envelopes to mix and manipulate 8bit waveforms into one another.

The synth needs time and patience, look beyond the presets! Once you start manipulating the and storing sounds you begin to see the true extent of how powerful a synth this really is.
Its not for the faint hearted plug and play producer, but once you start using it the controls and parameters are straight forward.

With 333 digitally sampled waveforms. You can control up to 6 wavetables per voice with complete analog processing for each voice including 24db per octave filter. 2 envelope generators with up to 5 parameters and 3 LFO's. 6 data entry slider for real time editing of all parameters"

Modular Patch #1: AJH Synth Sonic XV, Pressure Points & more

Published on Jun 5, 2018 DreamsOfWires

"Modules: AJH Sonic XV, Ring SM, full MiniMod system, Make Noise Pressure Points, Waverunner & WMD/SSF Spectrum as LFO.

Nothing serious, I thought I'd start uploading some modular patches I stumbled across. In this example an 8-step sequence is feeding a triangle from the 1st VCO into the Sonic XV filter, 2 rows of Pressure Points (with Maths) are modulating the wave-shaping (In Wave) and filter cutoff.

The remaining row of Pressure Points is controlling the second VCO, square out to input 1 of the ladder filter, triangle out feeding the -1 sub octave from the Ring SM then into input 2 of the ladder filter. VCO 3 is tuned to a constant pitch, square out into input 3 of the ladder filter. The Waverunner is modulating the pitch of VCO1, and the Spectrum to PWM of VCO's 2 & 3. 1 Envelopes triggering the ladder filter and VCA, and finally both filters into the 2 inputs of the VCA... Now I'm tired.

I mix in and out various parts of the patch, including the resonance from the Sonic XV, and that's about it really.
Recorded into AUM (iPad) with Audio Damage EOS2 reverb. Sequence was from a Keystep.

"Both are in their original boxes and have 'The Jack Bruce Band' stenciled on the outside. I have had it refurbished so it is back in fully working order apart from one of the internal speakers isn't working, I decided to leave it original instead of opening her up and replacing it. I have a certificate of authenticity from Jack's family to prove it's provenance. There is no handle on the case of the 2600. I have given the Tolex case a good scrub and it has cleaned up nicely.

Instruo - Ts-L (6HP triangle core analogue waveshaping VCO)

Published on Jun 5, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the new Ts-L 6hp eurorack oscillator from Instruo. It has sine, triangle and a -1 or -2 square wave sub as well a unique PWM / inverted shaper square/triangle/pyramid like wave (not sure what to call that) and a wave folding section that takes a sine through lots of stages of folding and finally clipping. The folder also has a symmetry control and there's sync, linear/exponential FM and great 1v/oct tracking. There's a lot packed into a small space and it's a triangle core analogue oscillator. Instruo have definitely been on a fine form started with the Troika and moving into the new products."

Fender Chroma Polaris Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer SN 302665

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"New membrane panel replacement just completed (April 2018).

This synth was manufactured in 1983 by Fender in Japan. It is very clean, and a fine example of a Polaris which has not seen gig action. You may be hard pressed to find a cleaner Polaris on the market anywhere.

This particular Polaris has a small bit of oxidation (rust spots) on top right corner of panel. It's not very noticeable, but see pics. The exterior is otherwise 99%+ pristine and in nearly-perfect condition for a circa 1985-86 vintage instrument.

This is a six-voice (12 VCOs total) synth with a 61-key velocity sensitive keyboard. It has selective pitch bend, which lets you bend some notes in a chord while keeping others fixed. It has a MIDI interface, and includes a built-in sequencer."
