"The OB-6 sound engine is inspired by Tom Oberheim’s original SEM, the core of his acclaimed 4-voice and 8- voice synthesizers. It features two discrete voltage-controlled oscillators (plus sub-oscillator) per voice with continuously variable waveshapes (sawtooth and variable-width pulse, plus a triangle wave on oscillator 2). The classic Oberheim-inspired 2-pole, state-variable, resonant filter provides low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch functionality. Voltage-controlled amplifiers complete the all-analog signal path."

"DELTA SOUND LABS ORIGAMI

The Delta Sound Labs Origami is a skiff-friendly Eurorack adaptation of the much-loved Timbre circuit found in the original Buchla Music Easel. It's an essential module for West Coast synthesis, and though it pairs especially well with simple waveforms such as sine and triangle waves, this famous circuit is a wellspring of interesting harmonic content regardless of audio input.

ORIGAMI FEATURES

Wavefolder based on Buchla Music Easel Timbre circuit
Dedicated offset for fold amount
CV input for fold amount with attenuator"

"DELTA SOUND LABS SABER

The Saber from Delta Sound Labs is a loving 21st-century recreation of the famed Oberheim SEM state-variable filter. It features all the fatness and grit of the original filter, along with discreet low-pass, band-pass, and hi-pass outputs, in a compact, skiff-friendly design.

SABER FEATURES

Filter based on Oberheim SEM
Dedicated controls for Cutoff, Resonance, Input Level

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #58: Access Virus A - Song 2

Published on Oct 12, 2018 Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the second song with the Access Virus A. It's a 12 voice polyphonic virtual analog synth with two OSC per voice and two independent resonant filters.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Access Virus A - Alesis Ampliton - Sony Sony DPS-V77 - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2 - Alesis 3630 (bassdrum on sidechains). Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a small Behringer mixer into the pc for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

intellijel Baby Steps With Steppy 1U

Published on Oct 12, 2018 Intellijel

"Steppy is a 4-track programmable gate sequencer with eight internal memory slots, external clocking, numerous tweakable parameters, and a performance-first design aesthetic.

Each track features numerous independent parameters that govern its playback independently of the other tracks. Specifically:

Each track has its own length, which can range from 1-step to 64-steps, allowing for polyrhythms, fills, or constantly evolving gate interactions between tracks.
Each track has its own gate length, which ranges from very short to very long, with tied gates possible at the extreme setting.
Each track has its own clock divider, allowing patterns to play out over completely different periods of time.
Each track has its own swing setting, which offsets the timing of every other step.
Each track has its own delay setting, which offsets the timing of every step.
Each track has its own probability control, which sets the likelihood that each programmed gate will fire when called upon by the pattern.
Each track can be shifted (or ‘rotated’) forward or backward by a number of steps. So if you’ve created a pattern that ‘feels’ like it has its downbeat on step 3, you can shift that pattern two steps to the left, so that the downbeat sits on step 1.
Tracks can be selected and modified in real time as the sequence plays. A select button allows you to directly access each track (and each page of 16 steps within that track) directly through Steppy’s intuitive multifunction buttons array.

Tracks can be individually muted and unmuted, and a special performance mode (called “Loopy”) enables you to touch any two gate steps and instantly create a performance that loops between those steps.

Track patterns can be cleared without clearing its playback parameters, and all track patterns (along with their individual playback and performance parameters) can be saved as a preset to one of eight internal memory slots."

You can find them on Reverb here.

Don't miss the video here.

Update: some pics and details captured. I made the mistake of trying to capture them all and then realized how many were listed. :) I ended up switching to the more esoteric models. Quite a few have never been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH before. What's a little bit interesting, is only two new labels were needed, one for Domino and one for Side-Kick-Er. All other brands have been featured before. See the labels at the bottom of this post. Side note: Blogger limits the number of characters to 200 for labels, so I wasn't able to capture them all for this post. You can always search for the brand names featured for more. I assume most do this anyway. The labels are more for maintenance and for finding posts that may not feature brand names in descriptions.

Arturia Synclavier V Update 2.0 - The power of Resynthesis & V Collection Update 6.2

"Synclavier V has been updated to version 2.0. Now featuring a powerful resynthesis engine, vintage sample playback, all-new presets, and a great sample library to explore."

Synclavier V Tutorial Update 2

Published on Oct 12, 2018

"Get a quick overview of some of the most important new features found in Synclavier V update 2.0. In this video, Guy covers the new sampling capabilities, the resynthesis engine, and some of the new grid features."

"Originally released in 2016 as part of V Collection 5, Synclavier V gave a whole new generation of musicians access to the ground breaking sound and features of the revolutionary late-70s digital synth. Developed in partnership with the original instrument’s inventor, Cameron Jones, Synclavier V went above and beyond the capabilities of the hardware produced between the late 70s and early 90s.

However, New England Digital also produced many optional add-ons for the Synclavier, such as a sample playback module and a resynthesis engine, that were not emulated in Arturia’s release of Synclavier V 2.

Today, that changes.

With the release of Synclavier V 2, alongside many other workflow enhancements and improvements, Arturia and Cameron Jones are proud to announce that Synclavier now includes sampling capabilities and an exciting resynthesis engine for musicians, producers, and sound designers to explore.
Synclavier V 2 is available as a free upgrade to all owners of Synclavier V, or Arturia’s V Collection 5 and V Collection 6.

Asheville Modular On The Spot September 2018

Published on Oct 12, 2018 Illumination Station

"Every month when the weather is nice there is a Modular On The Spot in a park in Asheville. This is an opportunity for modular artists and enthusiast to enjoy modular music whilst picnicking and generally having a good time.

Last month I had the opportunity to perform and also took some video and recorded sound. Here is a quick look into what MOTS was like. I was unable to record video of myself so I'm rolling some B-roll for the excerpt from my set. It turned out that when I edited most of this was my set with footage of my son and wife... but hey at least I know what I like.

I hope you enjoy the video and I hope you have a great day!
