"BURG featuring Anda Volley - Silence by Johan Baeckstrom.

My good very friend Johan asked me if I wanted to do a remix of one of the new tracks on his single silence. I told him, only on one condition, that i get full on free artistic freedom. He gave me a big blue thumbs up (on fb messenger) and it was a deal. :D

I wanted to make something really special on this one, not just work instrumental with some vocal cuts from the track. I got in contact with the super talented multi artist Anda Volley and asked her to interpret the lyrics as spoken word .. then based on her interpretation, her mood and feeling this piece of music came to life. We are really happy with the result, i hope that you all will enjoy it too!!

Interesting that the audio outs on the back are filter outputs? Note the headphones out is on the back as opposed to the front. Also love the distinct panel sections on the front.

Pre-Burns Scots Song (Session 4)

"Right. Tomorrow I'm doing session 5, after which I'm leaving this project for a while. I'm going slightly crazy with all this Scottish music. I assume my subscriber are also :)

This vid plus tomorrow's vid = 50 tracks recorded this week. I'm hearing Scots Song in my sleep. Someone call the doctor.

That being said, there are some good sounds from the Vermona in this set. And some good melodies. There are a couple of tracks akin to the bagpipes, then more modern sounds i.e. the second half of track 5 for a fat analog bass. Nice to show the synth in an entirely different context from standard synth use. And to demonstrate the tonal/timbral range.

...One more set, then a lie down for a while, then something completely different :)

PS some of the melodies in this section are relatively rare - even by Scots Song standards.

This instrument is like an electronic music lab. It's made up of three additive sine oscillators with adjustable harmonics. You have a noise generator, filter, delay, reverb, volume controls and a handy randomizer section. Under the randomizer you can click to change pitch, harmonics, filter and mixer settings. Or all of those at once.

I think this software sounds great and the bang per buck factor is high."

Interestingly, when Dave and I sat down to draw up a spec, it was immediately apparent that we’d each been sort of designing the same instrument in our minds during our ‘time away’ — a hybrid synth with digital oscillators, dual analog filters, and new modulation possibilities. The Prophet 12 came together quickly after that and turned out really well for us.”

The Prophet 12 LE has the same combination of features as the original Prophet 12 — a bi-timbral, 12-voice architecture, with each voice boasting four high-resolution, multi-waveform digital oscillators, a sub-oscillator, analog low-pass and high-pass filters, analog VCAs, four envelopes and four LFOs, and a set of unique Character Effects for sound shaping. Linear FM capability was later added to the Prophet 12 as a software enhancement, giving the instrument even greater depth and making it one of Sequential’s most versatile poly synths.

The Prophet 12 LE will be available in December of 2018 with a US MAP of $2,999. A limited number of standard-finish black Prophet 12s are also available while stock lasts."

Hi All, this is the second jam on the BURG1K setup. This track is a bit different than the first one. I wanted to break out from using 4/4 patterns and do something a bit slower, but still with some groove.

The drumbrute has just a little bit of swing/shuffle.. to give that moving feeling and to make sure it does not become too static.

On the volca bass, i have several patterns i switch between that has the second VCO recorded with different notes, and by switching the patterns i can sort of play a pre defined melody. :) This helps with variation in the song.

I still have not decided how to expand the setup with fully. I do have a mixer incoming to ensure proper stereo recording, the behringer 1002B and also a EHX 720 stereo looper.

I a hoping to be able to use these in my upcoming videos.

"Arp 2600 and 3620 Keyboard vintage/used/Consignment more info coming including original documentation and patch book. this is a 2 owner synth. Original owner is Shasta College who then sold it to a local musician who used it for many years then brought it to us. It's been well cared for but hasn't had any kind of calibration in a long time. That said it works great and has been in use until it came to us for a reluctant sale. It's fully functioning. The tolex is in pretty good shape but has some wear. It's never been restored and is all original. We'll have more info soon."
