Palo Radio by Bloop and Quack

Elby Euro Serge and processed guitar.

"Members Doug Lynner (modular synthesizer) and R Duck (processed guitar) began improvising together several years ago as Bloop Quack. The pace picked up in the summer of 2018 when the pair began airing their weekly, live radio show, Bloop and Quack, on KZSU Stanford 90.1FM in the San Francisco Bay Area

This album consists of sections edited from the Bloop and Quack Show. The on-air performances are improvised and recorded in stereo from the broadcast feed. No additional recording or overdubbing is done. They are mastered for release.

Resonance Reappearing

Published on Feb 7, 2019 Gordon Monahan

"Resonance Reappearing is a motion-activated sound sculpture. Using Max/MSP software, a continuously changing score is created that draws from a library of prerecorded sounds. These sounds are transmitted through a network of motors and wires creating a vibrating, kinetic audio system that gives physical form to sound.

Four long piano wires are suspended in the gallery, with groups of electric motors hanging on each wire. The motors are attached to the speaker outputs of audio amplifiers, which have audio soundfiles playing through them, that are then amplified through the motors and into the wires. Each wire has a contact pickup attached at each end, and these contact pickups send amplified signals into a PA system in the gallery. At the same time, there are motors attached at the end of the piano wires, that cause the wires to flex with off-center motor movements. A motion sensor triggers the system to fade in and fade out, resulting in a continuously changing flexible sound system.

The piece attempts to visualize the invisibility of sound, by deconstructing the audio system into a vibrating network of motors and wires that are set in motion by the sounds transmitted through them, thus creating a kinetic audio system that is activated by the sound waves travelling through and emanating away from themselves."

Autonomous Bassline Generator (by 4ms) synced with Korg Volca via Infrared Emitter

Published on Feb 8, 2019 O.S.cillator @ Kalkartronic

"The Autonomous Bassline Generator (ABG) by 4ms can receive IR signals from other ABGs and so I thought maybe it is possible to convert other external sync signals into Infrared signals. In order to check it out I bought an IR Emitter with 3.5mm jack for a just a few euros and plugged it into the sync out of the Volca FM, and voilà: It works perfectly!
So, another fun way to noodle around with the mini synth."

Industrial Music Electronics The Harvestman Hertz Donut MK3 Digital FM & Phase Distortion Oscillator

Published on Feb 8, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"The Hertz Donut MK3 is a new digital frequency modulation and phase distortion oscillator from Industrial Music Electronics, formerly The Harvestman. The main oscillator of the Hertz Donut Mk3 has 3 wavefolding algorithms which can be modulated by the two operator oscillators and an external input. The main oscillator can also be FMed by the two operators, and the operators can modulate each other with a 3x4 modulation matrix. The Hertz Donut MK3 is great for creating metallic textures with complex harmonics and modulation.

The second part of this video shows one use for the preset system in the Hertz Donut MK3, saving 8 distinct sounds and then selecting them with a sequencer to make a rhythmic pattern. The sequencer we used was the Stillson Hammer MK2.

Succession Pro for Kontakt

Published on Feb 7, 2019 HGSounds

"Showing how easy it is to build up patterns in a creative exploration sort of way"

via HG Sounds

"Succession Pro is an Advanced Sequencer/Drum Machine which uses 4 Sequencers and 4 Synths. Any sequencer can target any or all of the synths making it a very flexible system. It uses 12 Patterns which hold all Sequencing data which are switched either by using the GUI buttons, or a dedicated Octave on your Keyboard (shown in red on the Kontakt Midi Keyboard Display). The idea is that you perform these patterns using this switching to create unique and complex Sequences easily. The Scale Remapper, automatically re-pitches so that Sequences always align with the Scale and can be used Globally or use a different Scale for each pattern.

Each of the 4 Sequencers use a Trigger sequencer which determines when notes are played, anything above zero will trigger and additionally the value used can sequence Velocity, Sample Start or Waveform IDs or any combination. There is also a Pitch sequencer which has it’s own step length and frequency for creating syncopation. It has it’s own internal preset system like all other HGS Kontakt Instruments as well as a sophisticated Randomization system for easily generating Presets even at the global level. Finally there is an FX section which has a Modulator (Chorus, Flanger or Phaser), a Tempo delay and a Reverb with 50 Impulse Responses."

Livestock Electronics MAZE - Sequential Attenuverting Matrix Mixer & Signal Router in Eurorack

Published on Feb 8, 2019 DivKidVideo

"I've had a lot of fun with the Livestock Electronics Maze. With it's option to route and then control level and inverted level of any input signal to any output the potential for this thing is pretty crazy! Going beyond that having the option to save several banks of 16 states and recall these states AND THEN use CV or triggers to move through the presets states randomly, in order, addressed by CV, with Euclidean patterns etc. Really cool.

TIMING INDEX / SECTIONS

00:00 Hello and patch previews

00:49 What is Maze? Features etc.

04:23 Routing, inverting and mixing modulation

08:06 SLCT input - using external signals to move through saved routing presets.

09:05 Switching and distributing triggers to shift up your beats

12:41 Interesting use of an accent pattern

14:57 Turning an offset voltage into a 4 voice chord machine

16:46 Building pitch and modulation sequences and states

20:16 SLCT Fade mode - crossfade between 16 states of routing, level control and inversion."

""At least now we know why they call it the Milky Way."

Want to change your patch with a push of a button? Create presets for attenuversion, routing and mixes of signals? Sequence and morph through audio and cv? Then Maze has got you sorted!

Maze is a versatile routing and mixing matrix. That allows you to create your own touchpad of patch presets. Each routing position has been equipped with an attenuverting VCA so it can be used for signal distribution and attenuversion.

Morphing speed between presets can be changed and routings can be muted. Preset selection is also possible with CV and several algorithms. The signal path is entirely analog and it is even possible to chain Maze modules together to increase your matrix."

Simmons SDS 800 | Fully analog drums | THIS is the Tom sound you want!

Published on Feb 8, 2019 Espen Kraft

"Simmons SDS 800 electronic drums from the mid 80s. A budget variation of the more famous SDSV and SDS9, but very capable of making those famous TOMs as well as a 808-like kick and snare. A fully analog drum brain/machine.

Originally the SDS 800 came with the corresponding hexagon drum pads/triggers from SImmons.
The SDS 800 is NOT a drum machine as such and it needs to be triggered to output any sound. There is no MIDI here.
In the absence of original drum pads I've hooked up a couple of DIY piezo electric elements to the two TOM inputs and I play on those with a couple of BIC ballpoint pens, works very well and clearly demonstrates the dynamics you can acheive.

Such piezo electric transducers are dead cheap to buy on Ebay.
The rest of the demo I use the Roland TR-626 to trigger the inputs of the SDS 800 as the 626 has individual outputs that I just route directly into the SDS 800 inputs. Kick - Snare - Tom1 - Tom2."

Universal Exports & Medusa Hybrid Synthesizer

Published on Feb 8, 2019 Polyend

"Hello. We are Universal Exports. Welcome to our Atelier in Wroclaw, Poland where we create our sounds, meet other musicians and having fun. We are a live electronic duo with a philosophy to play only improvised sets without the pressure of time and space. All we do is streamed online in realtime a few times a month. We love to meet new people as much as playing new devices. This time we decided to build the whole set around the rough sound of Medusa. Each instrument we use runs its own sequencer. We believe that sequencer is the strongest point of Medusa. Each step can store not only notes but also automation of all parameters you’ll need to perform. From nice gentle modulations to highly experimental settings. We adore Medusa for hard bass and FM knob which sounds freaky! A highly recommended piece of gear … especially for experimental oriented musicians or those who need the surprising huge hybrid sound of this black monster"
