"Two of the knobs have slight damage (Volume and Release). See photos. They are both secure and perform exactly as intended, just are not cosmetically perfect."

Edit: this is the inevitable demise of all knobs of this type. The rubber just breaks down over time. The good news is you can get replacement knobs by ALBS that won't break down! Modular Addict has them here. You can find pics of my XTk with them here. They look better than the original imo!

"Excellent condition, cool, extremely rare and out of production . I believe this is one of two units that were actually built and shipped!

Unit #1 (Prototype), #2 (unknown/unheard), #3 (This Unit). Comes with Power Adapter, and assorted patching cables (see pictures).

Video does Not depict unit being sold here, it is only for you to have a general idea of its capabilities. I will provide the 8 Patching Template Images via message after purchase.

Description:
It’s a 12 voice modular synthesizer system built into a wooden case. It doesn’t appear to be bound by the rules of Eurorack, Moog or Buchla, the FaithState has its own thing going on. And I’m pretty sure it’s a digital thing with an analogue front end.
The synthesis combines the oscillator, VCA and mixer into a single “Digital Voice Unit”. The sound is sourced from a library of over 500 waveforms, split into 85 groups of 6 waveforms each. 2 of these 6-voice wave sets can be mixed, blended and tuned against each other. The resultant output emerges from 3 identical control channels that have inputs for pitch, amplitude and wave blend.

The other generators include a classic Dual Slope generator with controls for Range and Origin. There’s a dual 4 stage voltage bank that can store 8 voltages with various ways of clocking, shuffling, selecting and addressing. And another single row of 4 elsewhere with added clocking controls. A “Giv-Trig” provides 5 asynchronous timers reaching 7 gate/triggers. A sample-and-hold circuit. The Slope Mini is a compact version of the triangle function generator modulation source. The multi-mode filter rounds off the sound shaping. And the front and centre are these 3 spinning wheels of multiples for tripling up your signals and controls."

Prophet Rev2, Arturia Microbrute & OP-1 / Atmospheric 80s Jam

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Synth & Sundry

"Dave Smith Instruments Prophet Rev2 , Arturia Microbrute and Teenage Engineering OP-1 all together in one room for an eighties relaxing synth jam played live by two sets of hands.

This is the first time I've jammed alongside the DSI Prophet Rev2 and I have to say I am very impressed by its lushness and warmth. It strikes me as a player's polysynth with which can easily rustle up rich and immersive pads, leads and key type sounds. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs in terms of bass and more atonal textures.

Recorded through RME Fireface UC. Drums provided by Ableton Live

Roland Jupiter-6 | You Got Me Dreamin'

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Alex Ball

"Finally got to have some time with the one Jupiter I've not played properly; the Jupiter-6 from 1983.

For starters, it's a big bulky instrument that matches the Jupiter-8 in terms of scale, but then there are quite a lot of differences.

It's sound is rawer and colder than the hi-fi Jupiter-8, most likely to do with it having different circuits and also digital LFOs and envelopes (combined with an otherwise analogue signal path).

It also has combinable wave shapes on both of the oscillators (rather than them being switchable as on the Jupiter-8) and various keyboard modes with some quite narly detune.

The verdict: I like it.

Sounds used:
Roland Jupiter-6 (1983)
Roland SH-101 (1982)
Yamaha DX7 (1983)
Oberheim DX (1983)
Sequential Drumtraks (1984)
Roland TR-606 (1981)
Roland TR-808 (1980)

Eurorack ambient groove

Published on Mar 13, 2019 While We Were Sleeping

"🎧 or 🔊 🔊 for stereo image
I was not sure how to title this one, so will just give the long story:
I have been playing the same patch now since Christmas. I just can't stop myself. I have been mostly playing Techno and other fastest paced stuff so needed to slow down to stop myself going crazy and this jam is the result. The patch started as an Ambient piece. The original patch had the Malekko voltage block sequenced from Ableton and I will sone put out that video. After recording the Ableton peace, I changed over to using the Malekko Varigate 8+ to sequence the voltage block and I have not stopped playing the patch since then. Simply changing the attenuation and offset on the Clock/CV in of the voltage block gives me so many parmutation of the pattern. I got about 8 more faster-paced jams recorded so thinking of sticking them on in one long video when I get the time.
The other thing that happened to me is that by some miracle I looked down and noticed my Roland Juno 60 seating under my eurorack and decided it would be nice to actually switch it on.

Would love to know what you think of this track and the patch?

The patch:
The synth lead/bass part of the patch is using a single oscillator (Thomas Henry 555) that is processed by 3 filters and one triple wave folder. It then ends up in two VCAs + envelopes (Hexinverter Galilean Moons) . The Voltage block has each of its steps tuned with pitch and varies other filter and wave folding parameters. The Varigate 8+ is used for sequencing the steps of the Voltage block and trigger the drums. the drums are barely noticeable just to give the patch some movement and a some groove.

The recording:
This was recorded live on Instagram. I had tried to do a YouTube live but unfortunately, that did not work with my iPhone 6 so still looking for a workable solution for YT.

"👉Find more details about this track & download it from my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/25339430

Since my camera didn't want to cooperate on this simple short track, I had to comeback to film this slo-mo.

Anyway, it would not have been such a "watchable" live-studio show, since there are only three synths I used for this minimal track: #RolandSH01A for the first "harpsichord" sequence (using Boss RV-3 & Behringer FL600 for that effect), #ToraizAS1 for the bass line and #Digitakt for drums. You would just probably watching me tweaking the filter on Toraiz. And pushing the play/stop buttons!

Enjoy this little epic track! If you want, you may add some choirs in your mind, until I'll release such a version of this track! 😜"

Steve H. on Buchla 200e - at SUPERBOOTH18

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Superbooth Official

"Electronic music innovator Steve H began his journey as an experimental musician at Carnegie Mellon University where he studied both music composition and the physics of musical sound. His journey began deep in the basement of the CMU Physics Department where there was a nondescript, unmarked locked room. Inside was a simple table and chair, and magically, on the table, was a brand new Arp 2600. Thus a life long love of electronic music had begun.

Many years later (and several Buchlas later) he has composed scores for TV and film, has won and been nominated many awards including the EMMY. He performs live electronic music internationally and in his hometown: New York City. His music spans from the ephemeral minimalist to outrageous noise-based surround electronic soundscapes, created on his Buchlas, extensive Eurorack system, and collection of controllers."
