"original cassette tape with the factory patches for the Oberheim OB-X Synthesizer.

i wasn't able to find other past auctions or any information about the amount of these cassettes produced so one must assume they are even harder to come across than the original OB-X itself which had around 800 manufactured from mid 1979-1981.

as i no longer own the 4-voice OB-X to which this belonged, i cannot test it to verify that it works so it will be sold "as-is." i can say that the OB-X was found in pristine cosmetic condition so there is a very good chance this is still a functional cassette.

do not miss out on this collectible part of synthesizer history!"

"This was happening last week, all boards have been assembled and dispatched to us, should be arriving later this week.

I haven't had chance to process the sounds from the video through some of the Gecho's channels as usual, maybe will do that later when there is time, as at the moment there is still a few things to finish before we can start shipping. The voice samples were added while editing the video. Also the birds are a field recording made there and added while editing the video"

Sequential In The Spotlight Interview with Hinako Omori

"Hinako Omori is a musician with a love for synthesizers and anything that makes interesting sounds. Born in Yokohama, Japan she moved to London when she was three, where she is still based.

Initially training to be a sound engineer, she studied Music and Sound Recording at Surrey University then went on to work at record labels and distributors then at audio equipment manufacturer Focusrite/Novation. After session playing on the side, she leapt into music full time as a keyboard player and programmer – some of the artists Hinako has worked with include Georgia, Kate Tempest, KT Tunstall, James Bay, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Ellie Goulding, and Fionn Regan.

Her move into creating her own music was instigated by her friend Hannah Peel, who asked her to remix of one of her tracks from her Mary Casio album. The track was included on Hannah’s own Mindfulness Mix on BBC Radio 1, and also played on BBC 6 Music and Radio 3.

The experience spurred her into creating her own musical journeys, combining ambientspace-synths with field recordings and her own ethereal vocals. Thematically, her music is influenced by the idea of space and infinity, floating into separate universes — everything being transparent and lucid, and the idea that nothing is permanent.

Alongside her teenage music-crush of The Knife, Hinako’s recent musical inspirations include Marie Davidson, Mark Pritchard, Katie Gately, Susan Sundfor and Tomoko Sauvage. Her debut single Voyage/Teleport is out now. Synth sounds evoke travelling to another realm in Voyage, and the feeling when you finally reach the other side in Teleport.

We chatted with Hinako about how she uses Sequential instruments in her music.

"Some lazy Sunday afternoon ambient music with all the things. The first sounds you hear are a recording of some coins dropping on a table looped on the Nagra III. The two-note synth sound is a 10-second loop on the Marantz cassette deck played at half speed. Then, I start the Otari MTR-12 (our first stereo track, yay!) that has a 20-ish second loop of Moog One pads. And finally, I improvise a little bit on the theme on the Moog One itself."

"Now, what is Wusik ZR? A single-cycle wave playback engine with Hyper Oversampling Code using SSE2/AVX. This was coded LIVE on my Twitch account and you can watch it on Youtube now.

Windows 32/64 and MAC OSX 64 bits compatible. VST2/VST3 and on OSX extra AU format;
Bank of 128 programs all designed by WilliamK (there's also an Init bank if you want to start from zero and do your own presets);
You can save/load/copy/paste programs, even from one bank to another bank;
Wave Engine with predefined sounds: 48 selectable waves from multiple banks. Each bank has 12 waveforms, and you can load 4 banks at one time. Each waveform is a single cycle 1200 samples wave;
Mono or Poly (32 voices total) with Unison (mono), Glide and Auto-Glide options;
Up to 16 either Static or Wavesequenced Layers;
ADSR envelope with clip output, velocity settings and an option to Loop the envelope ADS stages;
Filter with ADSR envelope just for it (lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch);
The filter has smooth and limit options;
ADSR Pitch envelope;
Master Limiter that can be turned off (one per Zone, read below);
4 Zones, each zone is a complete set of options: layers + master options + effects;

"For this video we created a system with SSSR Labs modules as the core sound generators and used their matrix module to route the signals in the system. At 4:32 there is a patch where the Matrixarchate is sequenced to create a rhythmic pattern.

The SM042 Kotelnikov is a wavetable oscillator with the ability to be used as a full synthesizer voice. The SM630 AWS is a non-linear wave-shaper with three different modes. This circuit is based on the harmonics circuit from the rare Alisa-1377 synthesizer that was produced in the USSR. The SM010 Matrixarchate is a 16x8 matrix that is bi-directional and can store presets which can be stepped through with triggers.

"The newest version of OP-X PRO-II (1.2.6) offers two interface types (Synth Interface / Rack Edition) each in 3 sizes (standard/large/huge) via separate installers.

This video shows how they look in the screen of an iMac 27" Mid 2017 Retina 5K at standard resolution (resolution equating to 2560 x 1440 pixels real).

The alternative "Rack Edition" interface does without a virtual keyboard and empty chassis areas for maximum controls size on the smallest area possible. It furthermore also offers labels and dedicated controls for hidden features and calibration tools and a new way of presenting the presets of a loaded bank.

"Raw Video of very initial shape exploring of the Mangrove Module through the Sirin VCF. Breath is changing the wave shape. Occasionally I growl and the CV brings it in. I'm only using the one Eurorack module going in to the Sirin, so imagine all the amazing shape changing you can do with even just a few more modules, even simple utility. I suspect this will sound even cooler when I drive VCA with breath instead of VCF. Just does better with wood wind things that way. Plus the Sirin has a VCA and VCF CV in, so with a Eurorack simple mixer you can send various %'s of VCA and VCF from breath and/or vibrato.... now that is how you do it. All analog here. And not yet even using the Sirin VCO's, which have tricks of their own."
