Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave

video upload by tritonrecordings

"I don't think we need any more proof that unabashedly digital synthesizers are back in style, but here we are with the 3rd Wave. While it's obviously very inspired by the PPG Wave, it goes much further in terms of capability. It sounds wonderfully digital, yet somehow warm and organic at the same time. I did some programming but barely scratched the surface. These are all patches I found while exploring that stood out to me, but there were far too many great sounds to do them all. The closest thing I have in my arsenal I can compare it to would be the Modal Argon8X. If you want a premium digital synthesizer to be beyond the limits of analog, I don't see any reason look any further than this, apart from something like a Waldorf Quantum."

Moog and Make Noise Modular combo. Cosmic Jam/Live

"Finally, I've combined the modular systems by Moog and Make Noise into a single monster. The number of sequencers, oscillators, patch points give a super wide space for creative work.
I'm beginning with a sweet cosmic performance.

Top 7 Analog Synthesizers - Talent Keyhole soundtrack.

video upload by Sleepwalk Cinema

What is that at 2:11?

"Analog synths used in the motion picture Talent Keyhole. Available now on Amazon.

Filmmaker Michael Lauter details the analog synthesizers utilized in the Talent Keyhole movie soundtrack. In addition to his own original music scoring, he licensed and commissioned tracks from other notable electronic musicians. Among them, Testube, Night Club, and Dreamstalk which are 100% in-the-box artists. Lauter and S Y Z Y G Y Z, however, use hybrid studio workflows, incorporating analog hardware synths with Digital Audio Workstations. (DAWs) S Y Z Y G Y Z further created an exclusive track just for the feature film.

Williams Synthesiser?

video upload by matrixsynth via Andrew

Update: video above added along with new pics below, via Andrew.

"Explored the internals and it doesn't appear to be a Maplin kit, but looks like a DIY/Handmade."

Andrew went on to mention "It looks like a Dewtron DIY system. The controls are similar to that of the Apollo." [see this post]

This one is in via Andrew.

Note the WilliamSynthsizer on the top right, the 7 x 10 patchpay on the lower right, the massive 12 x 19 patchbay on the left, and the keyboard controller. I thought it might be a Maplin. If so, some massive custom work went into it. It could also be ralated to this synth from 1973's Wireless World magazine. There was also a custom white 5600s which has a larger patchbay compared to the standard square found on most Maplins. Note the one on this Williams Synthesiser is much larger. I could not find a matching keyboard controller.

Andrew plans to open it up and take a look at the inside. He also plans to take more pics. I'll put up a new post when they come in. Until then, if you know what this is, or have any guesses, let us know!

The Power Of CS1x - Ep1 - Airwolf, The Terminator, Don't You Want Me, Knight Rider and Jump

video upload by KOSmusic

"For many years my wife and I have wanted to create something dedicated exclusively to the Yamaha CS1x synthesizer. Finally, after so much work, we are very happy to present you this mini series in which the sounds of the CS1x will be the protagonists.

Each episode will consist of 5 famous music presets that I created and performed on the CS1x.

The visual style and structure of these videos is inspired by early 90s learning video tapes.

The initial logo and the music, is a tribute to one of the most important distributors of VHS in those years in the United States, the 'Simitar Entertainment'.

To make these videos useful even for those who just want to learn how to play some pieces of this music from the past with their own keyboard/synth, I filmed the synthesizer from above in order to better understand the keys I press.

In this episode there is a brief description of the CS1x and a demonstration of 5 presets:

• Airwolf Theme - by Sylvester Levay - (Lead)
• The Terminator - Main Title - by Brad Fiedel - (Lead)
• Don't You Want Me - by The Human League - (Brass Chords)
• Knight Rider Theme - by Stu Phillips and Glen A. Larson - (Lead)
• Jump - by Van Halen - (Lead)

For the first time the videos where I play are live (improvised without a metronome). The sound you hear is pure CS1x, with no external effects.

All the presets you heard in this episode are available in SysEx format on my website: https://kosmusicovers.altervista.org/...

Original music:

• Theme - 'Synth From Space' by KOSmusic
• End Credits - 'Automatik' by KOSmusic

A special thanks to my dear friend @Julian Croot, for helping me with the English translation. If you don't already know him, check out his channel filled with amazing recreations of past classics:

/ @juliancroot

We hope that CS1x owners and music fans will like this new idea :)"

You can find a demo of the Six-Tweak in this post from 2017.

"Here it is, the ultimate gateway drug into the world of sequential circuits. This Six Trak is in perfect working condition and has been professionally serviced in the past few years. See picture for work that was done By previous owner before I purchased it. Also comes with the essential Stereo Ping Six Tweak Midi controller. This gives you hands on tweak ability to all the parameters of the Six Trak!!! So much easier and more enjoyable than menu diving. All buttons are in great shape, all keys work well, knobs all work. AND this synth has the V14 firmware update which address a V11 bug and adds extra functionality to the synth (v11 will be included with the sale)..."

"This demo unit was featured at Knobcon 2022, now on display here in our showroom. Can be freighted anywhere in the country, please contact us for more info!

Analogue Solutions is excited to introduce Colossus, an exciting new mega-synth with a design ethos truly from the dawn of analogue synths. It is more than a powerful analogue ‘workstation’ - it is also art, architecture, exquisite studio furniture.

Design inspiration is of course from the 1970’s EMS Synthi 100, however, no circuit from the Synthi has been cloned or copied. We prefer to make our own designs. We have chosen some of our favourite circuits from our own large back catalogue synths such as Polymath, Telemark and Vostok.

Colossus is not a Synthi 100 clone - all circuits are non-EMS, Analogue Solutions’ design.

The original Synthi was so large it wouldn’t fit through a standard doorway. We didn’t make that mistake but don’t underestimate it’s size. It will be prominent in your studio, or art gallery!

It is sized at 1585mm wide, 700mm deep and 655mm high and weighing in too big to fit on the scales. It’s not entirely practical, but to be impressive physically and in sound. It will be an awesome centre piece to your studio.

*diagonal dimension is a little less for those with tight door ways - about 620mm effective width.

Also we have found putting Colossus on its end, you can pivot it through narrow doorways (more details in the manual).

All the voice and modulation circuits are of course 100% analogue. We purposely steered away from digital, it doesn’t have MIDI or USB (there are plenty of MIDI converter boxes out there should you need that facility). This wasn’t designed to be the solution to your modern digital studio but rather a serious analogue power house of sound. There are of course digital elements to the sequencer control - that is unavoidable - even classic analogue sequencers like the ARP sequencer using digital logic chips. In fact the Synthi 100 features a digital sequencer.

This synth is purely for those who want it just as it was in the 1970s - but new with parts still in production.

Colossus is large scale, featuring large knobs that control metal shaft potentiometers. VCOs have multi-turn verniers. The two enormous pin matrix panels dominate the horizontal panels - these are incredibly expensive Swiss made broadcast quality signal routers - 1 for CV and 1 for Audio.

There are two spring reverbs, touch keyboards, step sequencers, moving coil meters, joysticks and so much more. An immense expanse of jack sockets for additional patching within or without the system.

There are no gimmicks - this is pure synthesiser. A huge sound enclosed in a solid metal case wrapped in solid hardwood. No expense has been spared to bring this incredible machine to life.

Synthesisers like this only come around once in a decade, or possibly a generation."

"The Poly 61 is a super 80s analog polysynth with 2 DCOs per voice, chorus, and an arpeggiator. It is similar to the Roland Juno series but with a less appealing programming interface to some, hence the lower price! That said, programming isn't difficult, just less immediate and the great sound is still there. One other consideration is the lack of MIDI. It does include a trigger input for the arpeggiator for syncing to an external rhythmic driver.

Great working condition overall, shows average wear for it's age. Nothing out of the ordinary to mention."

Pittsburgh Taiga // When 2 Worlds Collide

video upload by Starsky Carr

"THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS... in a single synth. I remember when a 3 oscillator modular synth would have cost a small fortune... and here we are with not just a 'standard' 3 osc synth, but we have Waveshaping oscillators and Pittsburgh's low pass gate as well.

So we've loads of options when designing a tone - we can modulate the waveshapes - which can sound like it's being filtered.. or we can filter it.. or we can use the LPG!... Marvellous .. and with all the patch points we can do all 3 simultaneously on different oscillators :)"

Sonic Projects OP-X Pro-II - Sound Bank '79

video upload by Polydata

"Drawing from the earliest days of polyphonic synthesizers, Sound Bank ‘79 for the Sonic Projects OP-X Pro-II plug-in finds its inspiration in synthesizer music found in documentaries and library music from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

A bank comprising 30 patches for instant inspiration. The goal was to squeeze as much vintage analog juice out of this plug-in as possible, primarily working within the constraints of the original Oberheim OB-X analog poly synth. This plug-in sounds SO GOOD. There are some awesome plug-ins out there that are each great in their own way... this one really has a remarkable authenticity and realness to the sound that is incredible.

Sound Bank '79 is a series of vintage tones for different synths and plug-ins, so check out my other releases. Recorded completely dry with no external effects or processing.

Velocity - From scratch ๐ŸŒ  (Waldorf M + Timeline // Moog Minitaur + H9 // Roland TR6S // Streichfett)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Another track built from scratch this time with a retro / new wave 80s vibe ๐Ÿ˜‰ recorded in one shot. In the intro, you are hearing the live/raw sound recorded by the camera just to get that retro feel! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Everything was sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro.

The chimes sounds are from the Waldorf M, hybrid analog/digital synth (I used its MULTI mode with 3 layers, where velocity has been used to switch between the 3 sounds).

The bass is being played by the Moog Minitaur through the Eventide H9 (Chorus, adding stereo width).

The drums sounds are coming from the Roland TR-6S (with my favorite VINYL SIM effect on its master bus ๐Ÿคฉ).

And finally the LEAD/PADS are coming from the Waldorf Streichfett digital string synth.

* Hardware used *

- CHIMES : Waldorf M + Strymon Timeline (delay)
- BASS : Moog Minitaur +Julianna Eventide H9 (chorus)
- DRUMS : Roland TR-6S
- LEAD/PADS : Waldorf Streichfett
- All synth & drum parts sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro"
