Intellijel Cascadia: patching Ring Mod into FX loop with Chroma Console

video uploads by The Synth Shed

Playlist:

1. Intellijel Cascadia sound demo with Vector Five12 sequencer (no talking)
Sound demo showing how to set up a basic patch and modulations (based on some of the start-up examples in the manual) - with CV pitch/gate controlled through the amazing Five12 Vector Sequencer to give us a driving techno line with lots of dirt.

side-note: I don't know if I was hallucinating after too much coffee, but by the end I thought the melody had morphed into the Star Wars Imperial March. WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE!
2. Intellijel Cascadia: patching Ring Mod into FX loop with Chroma Console
Fourth part of my initial Cascadia explorations, again using the Chroma on fx duties, but this time with the added textures created by patching the Cascadia's Ring Modulator into the FX loop. Tasty sounds!
3. Intellijel Cascadia x Chroma Console = 'Add N to (X)'
Building on the patch and sequence created for my first Cascadia sound demo, we take things further with the addition of the inspiring multi-fx unit Chroma Console from Hologram Electronics. The perfect pairing for creating experimental sounds - and if you slow the tempo you're in instant 'Add N to (X)' chunky synth groove territory. Once again driven by the Five12 Vector Sequencer.
4. Intellijel Cascadia x Chroma Console PART 2: Filthy fuzz bass!
Had so much fun experimenting with this killer combo in the first video, that I ended up recording another video just to show how dang low down and dirty the Cascadia can go with a little help from its friends (in this case, FX from the Chroma and sequencing via the Five12 Vector)

"The EIII is considered one of the great vintage analog sampler synths and cost over $18,000 when first released. They are incredibly powerful machines with an amazing sound like nothing else. This one is in excellent clean condition and fully functional. Includes upgraded screen that is bright and easy to read. This is the 8MB version. The pictured disk drive has been replaced with a SD card drive (SD card included). It has minor wear as expected for its age. They don't show up for sale too often, don't pass this up."

Rare MFB Urzwerg Pro mk2 - Midi/CV Sequencer (Eurorack Compatible)

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"great and super rare, performance friendly sequencer. tons of options, has basically anything a great sequencer can have.

has cv and midi control. is compatible with any midi-controlled equipment, as well as with any voltage controlled equipment, like analogue synthesizers, modular and semi-modular synthesizers, etcetera.

has very flexible internal routing, and different rows can be monophonic, combined, polyphonic, or controlling different midi parameters.

with cv of course it’s even more flexible, whenever you patch it to - can be sequenced.

rows also can be transposed via midi and cv seperately."

EMW WCS-1x

"EMW WCS-1x Digital/Analog hybrid monosynth in excellent cosmetic and fully functional condition. I bought this after hearing it at a trade show. The multimode filter sounds amazing, super punchy and does incredible bass sounds, but also strange SH-03 style timbers.

The WCS-1x uses a DSP-based "Wave Composition Oscillator". The WCO's toggle switches allow you to access several waveshapes ( -including a fundamental square, a sub-octave, an "acid ring" waveform -which adds an aggressive edge to your sound, a sawtooth as well as a square wave -routed through either a bandpass or low pass filter -depending upon their respective toggle's position ). The WCO's toggle switches also allow you to select various octave settings ( +1 Octave, +3 Octaves or the fundamental's ). The LFO wave toggle allows you to select either a triangle or square wave for modulation purposes. At the top left corner of the WCO section is a MIDI channel button ( -with a "Gate" and "Learn" LED ). Next to it, you'll find a glide + and - ( portamento ) toggle switch. An unconventional arrangement but it works once you get used to it.

The remainder of the WCS-1x's controls are more straight forward knobs. You get one each for filter cut-off, filter resonance, filter envelope modulation, filter LFO modulation ( amount ) with the last knob to the right controlling the LFO's frequency. Below the filter section you'll find four knobs for controlling VCA attack, decay, sustain and release envelope segments. The knobs have a smooth, rock solid feel as you turn them."

Improvisation on Matrix 12 and Yusynth modular by wo visiting friends

video upload by yusynthman

Update:

Two passionate friends visiting my studio. (2)

"Last Saturday afternoon, I had the visit of two musician friends visiting my synth studio. Here, the 'dread lock giant' is having a lot of fun tweaking a sequence on my Yusynth modular synth, while I manage to play a few notes and chords on the Memotron (a modern recreation of the Mellotron by Manikin Elecronic) to accompany the sequence. The other visitor is behind the camera and makes a kind of panoramic view of my music studio."

Lofi-12 XT - How to Resample While Adding External FX

video upload by ChrisLody

"More information about the Lofi-12 XT: https://sonicware.jp/pages/lofi12xt

Full Disclosure: I occasionally take on freelance work at Sonicware on an hourly rate producing synth & sample sound design, beta testing, checking English text, video manuals etc. This video wasn't paid for directly but as a result of my work with Sonicware it is marked as Paid Promotion

*Note: I probably should have pointed out that I have the Left and Right inputs selected as the input from the Sampling menu, that's pretty important* 😅

This is an old school analogue resampling technique you can use on the Lofi-12 to add external effects to your audio. Resampling can also be done digitally if you'd like to just record internal samples without adding effects by changing the source selection to one of the tracks or the master output from the Sampling menu. You can also adapt the method in the video and leave the monitoring switched off if you don't need to hear the results in real-time"

Analog Rytm & PO MEGAMAN: "KeeJen" (TDK cover)

video upload by tubesockor

"Third time making a TDK cover now, but can't help it - they are too good and too fun to play! This is KeeJen, from the TDK album 'Retrospect'.

All sounds come from the Elektron Analog Rytm MKII using three voices of SY CHIP and one hihat voice. The leads are played on the Teenage Engineering PO-128 Megaman Pocket Operator.

Played in one go. Rytm audio is direct from the unit, PO has a little delay."

Superbooth 2024 Walkabaout

video upload by Pro Synth Network

"Hi everyone!

So here we are. It's a week since Superbooth 2024 and the post-Booth Blues have already kicked in. It was another remarkable week in Berlin, filled with amazing people, amazing gear and mediocre beer!

In this video, which you are getting an exclusive first look at, I walked almost the entirety of the Superbooth site, from the Bungalowdorf to the upper levels of the main building at FEZ. I tried to capture as much of the gear that was there and hopefully give you a taster of the Superbooth experience.

This video was filmed on the final day and the weather, whilst still lovely arm warm, was a little more subdued. The sun was hiding away, which was a shame because Superbooth in full sunlight is an amazing sight to behold.

So hopefully this video will give you a feel of the place and the vibe. You may see some familiar faces, you'll definitely see some familiar gear, and some new stuff too! Unfortunately, there were things that only a lucky few got to see and we were sworn to secrecy, but trust me, there are great things coming!

Let us know what your highlights and lowlights of this year's event were. Point out people you know and be sure to leave your comments below :-)

Enjoy! :-)
