MAKEN0ISE Announces New Universal Skiff System, MultiWave MIDI Inlet Module and More!

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

http://www.makenoisemusic.com

Press release follows:

Make Noise is proud to announce: New Universal Skiff System, MultiWave MIDI Inlet Module, N.U.S.S Bundle and 2-Zone Skiff! More information below!

The New Universal Skiff System music synthesizer is a small system devoted to multi-channel modular synthesis, using control voltages to create poliphonic sound events. The MultiWAVE provides eight dual wavetable oscillators, the PoliMATHS provides eight complex function generators, and a pair of QXG modules combine for eight channels of low pass gate with stereo mix animation. Together, these three modules enable poliphonic patching from a simple set of controls. In addition to the 8 channels of Polimaths for modulation, the MultiMod creates eight time-shifted variants of a single control signal, for even deeper modulation capabilities within the New Universal Skiff System. QPAS provides Multi-Mode Multi-Peak Stereo Filtering, and the XOH provides a final stereo mix and line-level or headphone outputs for monitoring and/or performance. The system also includes a USB-C input that can be used for Activation of MultiWAVE channels via MIDI or MPE signals from a USB MIDI host (such as a computer running a DAW or MIDI sequencer).
The New Universal Synthesizer System modules come together in a unified system!

2-Zone Skiff
In 2009, Tony designed the first Skiff to complement the vertically oriented Doepfer P6 cases available at the time by providing an ergonomic enclosure for our RenΓ© and Pressure Points touch controllers. These early skiffs were shallow, handcrafted wood designs. In 2015, a revised aluminum 3U Make Noise Skiff was released. This new design had enough depth to fit a wide range of modules, providing a smart way to build a small modular synthesizer.

Now, the Skiff has been updated again, this time to meet the more demanding power standards of today, with the 2-Zone Bus Board providing nearly double the power of its predecessor, plus the multi-zone design making it easy to isolate noise-susceptible or noise-causing modules from each other. The low-profile power headers are shrouded for easy and efficient module installation.
As before, the Skiff’s powder-coated aluminum construction is extremely durable. The clean, simple lines and matte black color place visual emphasis where the action is; the patch the artist has created.
Ships ready to use. Just add modules, patch cables, and inspiration.

"Half Time Modular's 8TR is a 4HP skiff-friendly module that lets you record 8 mono tracks of modular level signals at up to 24bit/48khz, for as long as you have card space for. In this demo I'll explain the idea, its 2HP expander, record a quick jam, show you how you import 8TR recordings via MicroSD to Ableton Live (it records Polywav files), and discuss the resulting multitrack. πŸ‘‰ https://www.halftimemodular.com/"

Aphex Twin - aisatsana | Modular Synth Cover

video upload by Mars Machine

"One of my favorite Aphex Twin Songs.

Patch Notes:
I sequenced all voices from Ableton using Univer Inter by @NoiseEngineering.
The lower octave voice is Acid Rain Chainsaw through Xaoc Zagrzeb and Mimeophon.
The lower lead voice is Basimilus Iteritas Alter through Ritual Electronics Guillotine and the Intellijel LPG. There is also a layer of this voice with a piano sample on the Disting.
The right hand melody are Plaits and 2hp Pluck through Forbidden Planet and Clouds.
The filters and some other characteristics of the voices are slightly modulated via PNW and Stages to keep it moving a little bit."

Testing the Synthesis Technology E430 Morphing VCF Beta Version

video upload by boxoftextures

"Testing a beta version of the new Synthesis Technology E430 Morphing VCF. It's in a sense the filter from the Oberheim SEM except with added filter morphing controls not in the original. The thing sounds amazing. It's a morphing VCF in that it goes from low pass to bandpass to high pass at the turn of a knob (or via voltage control), or at the press of a button the knob changes to low pass to notch to high pass. That's a ton of flexibility, and you can use it to make all kinds of sounds. It also has voltage controllable resonance as well. I've basically rearranged my smaller modular keyboard case to give the E430 a permanent home there and moved my "regular" filter into an empty spot in the big case.

Machina Bristronica 2024

video uploads by sonicstate

Playlist:

1. Bristronica 24: MyVolts The Silent Alchemist Nears Shipping
We caught up with Caroline who gave us the latest update to the *Silent Alchemist*, a versatile power hub designed for musicians. Featuring five isolated USB-C outputs and a high-wattage sixth output capable of delivering 100 watts, the device can power a Mac with the remaining outputs providing 20 watts each. Its independent circuits ensure noise-free operation, catering to a variety of devices including the Dreadbox module and Sysmo slope generator.

The Silent Alchemist uses innovative step-up power tips to convert USB-C input to the correct voltage for various devices. There's also new feature: an uninterruptible power supply allowing seamless transition between wall and power bank sources. Also introduced were updated cables, such as silver candy cords and floating ring TRS to TS cables, expanding connection flexibility. The Silent Alchemist is expected to be available in December with a competitive pricing strategy.

2. Bristronica 24: Circuit Happy ML2M Clock Sync module updates
At Bristronica 2024, we caught up with the creator of the *ML2M*, who introduced us to the latest version. The ML2M is a compact Eurorack module with Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing seamless synchronization with Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and iOS music apps using Ableton Link without the need for cables. It either connects to an existing network or creates its own, ensuring robust sync even in environments with unreliable Wi-Fi. The module, which retains its 2HP size, now features MIDI integration through TRS jacks. Users can access a web interface to configure each output for different clock divisions and reset triggers, making setup straightforward and flexible.

Alongside the ML2M, there's also the Missing Link Junior. This desktop version offers the same functionality but in a box format, complete with MIDI and CV clock outputs. Both products are now accessible, with a starting price of $250.
3. Bristronica 24: Archaea Exchange Patching Module
At Machina Bristronica 2024, we caught up with Arran from ‪@archaea_modular_synthesis‬ who presented the *Exchange Module*. This programmable patcher, a year in the making, evolved from its early prototype stage to a fully functional module. Arran explained how the Exchange can route synth voices via a beam controller and three exchange modules installed within the skiff, allowing for versatile patching. Operating like a matrix patchbay, it enables users to select inputs and outputs with the push of a button, create presets, and chain multiple modules for synchronized patching.

Communication between the modules occurs over the Eurorack power bus as well as over MIDI via the USB-C connection. The Exchange maintains analog integrity, ensuring there’s no conversion latency. The forthcoming release expected in late November 2024, includes a USB-driven editor for enhanced control capabilities.

Skippy Exp: an expander for Skippy

video upload by Kaona modular music

"Skippy Exp is a tiny module in 2HP that adds "Play/Stop" and "Reset" functions to Skippy, either via a button or a CV input."

"Skippy Exp is a very small module that in 2HP adds to Skippy the 'Play/Stop' function and the 'Reset' function, either with a button or with a CV input. It cannot work independently and you absolutely need Skippy to use it.

For those who do not need the live settings that Skippy Live allows (or who no longer have space!), Skippy EXP nevertheless allows you to add two essential functions for a dynamic game.

This module cannot work in parallel with Skippy Live which already has these two functions. It can be placed on the right or on the left. The connector to connect it to Skippy is provided. This module does not need to be connected to the power supply."

You can find additional posts featuring Skippy here.

1 Hour Improvisation with Eurorack Modular Synths & Midicake

video upload by midicake

"An hour long, unplanned improv session with Midicake ARP and a very limited Eurorack setup.

Consisting of just 4 synths: 2hp Kick, 2hp Pluck, Knobula Pianophonic, Knobula Polycinematic. The Specular Tempus is providing reverb.

It's surprising just what variation you can get with this small setup. The sound is recorded as is with no post editing. I hope you enjoy!"
