Aphex Twin - aisatsana | Modular Synth Cover

video upload by Mars Machine

"One of my favorite Aphex Twin Songs.

Patch Notes:
I sequenced all voices from Ableton using Univer Inter by @NoiseEngineering.
The lower octave voice is Acid Rain Chainsaw through Xaoc Zagrzeb and Mimeophon.
The lower lead voice is Basimilus Iteritas Alter through Ritual Electronics Guillotine and the Intellijel LPG. There is also a layer of this voice with a piano sample on the Disting.
The right hand melody are Plaits and 2hp Pluck through Forbidden Planet and Clouds.
The filters and some other characteristics of the voices are slightly modulated via PNW and Stages to keep it moving a little bit."

Testing the Synthesis Technology E430 Morphing VCF Beta Version

video upload by boxoftextures

"Testing a beta version of the new Synthesis Technology E430 Morphing VCF. It's in a sense the filter from the Oberheim SEM except with added filter morphing controls not in the original. The thing sounds amazing. It's a morphing VCF in that it goes from low pass to bandpass to high pass at the turn of a knob (or via voltage control), or at the press of a button the knob changes to low pass to notch to high pass. That's a ton of flexibility, and you can use it to make all kinds of sounds. It also has voltage controllable resonance as well. I've basically rearranged my smaller modular keyboard case to give the E430 a permanent home there and moved my "regular" filter into an empty spot in the big case.

Machina Bristronica 2024

video uploads by sonicstate

Playlist:

1. Bristronica 24: MyVolts The Silent Alchemist Nears Shipping
We caught up with Caroline who gave us the latest update to the *Silent Alchemist*, a versatile power hub designed for musicians. Featuring five isolated USB-C outputs and a high-wattage sixth output capable of delivering 100 watts, the device can power a Mac with the remaining outputs providing 20 watts each. Its independent circuits ensure noise-free operation, catering to a variety of devices including the Dreadbox module and Sysmo slope generator.

The Silent Alchemist uses innovative step-up power tips to convert USB-C input to the correct voltage for various devices. There's also new feature: an uninterruptible power supply allowing seamless transition between wall and power bank sources. Also introduced were updated cables, such as silver candy cords and floating ring TRS to TS cables, expanding connection flexibility. The Silent Alchemist is expected to be available in December with a competitive pricing strategy.

2. Bristronica 24: Circuit Happy ML2M Clock Sync module updates
At Bristronica 2024, we caught up with the creator of the *ML2M*, who introduced us to the latest version. The ML2M is a compact Eurorack module with Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing seamless synchronization with Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and iOS music apps using Ableton Link without the need for cables. It either connects to an existing network or creates its own, ensuring robust sync even in environments with unreliable Wi-Fi. The module, which retains its 2HP size, now features MIDI integration through TRS jacks. Users can access a web interface to configure each output for different clock divisions and reset triggers, making setup straightforward and flexible.

Alongside the ML2M, there's also the Missing Link Junior. This desktop version offers the same functionality but in a box format, complete with MIDI and CV clock outputs. Both products are now accessible, with a starting price of $250.
3. Bristronica 24: Archaea Exchange Patching Module
At Machina Bristronica 2024, we caught up with Arran from ‪@archaea_modular_synthesis‬ who presented the *Exchange Module*. This programmable patcher, a year in the making, evolved from its early prototype stage to a fully functional module. Arran explained how the Exchange can route synth voices via a beam controller and three exchange modules installed within the skiff, allowing for versatile patching. Operating like a matrix patchbay, it enables users to select inputs and outputs with the push of a button, create presets, and chain multiple modules for synchronized patching.

Communication between the modules occurs over the Eurorack power bus as well as over MIDI via the USB-C connection. The Exchange maintains analog integrity, ensuring there’s no conversion latency. The forthcoming release expected in late November 2024, includes a USB-driven editor for enhanced control capabilities.

Circuit Happy Introduces The ML:2m Eurorack Clock Generator Ableton Link, CV & MIDI Clock

video upload by Circuit Happy

"Sync everything.

Circuit Happy, are back with an updated version of their popular and powerful 2HP ML:2 eurorack module, with the ML:2m which see’s the addition of MIDI Clock Output and two configurable CV outputs for Clock and Reset in addition to the available Ableton Link over WIFI, making this a true synchronisation solution for all of your needs.

Available to buy now the ML:2m is a Eurorack Clock Generator at its heart but provides synchronisation possibilities across a wide range of studio equipment. Wireless Ableton Link connectivity provides simple, stress free sync to any of the 100’s of software/hardware running Link, MIDI Clock is perfect for those drum machines and the two 5V physical Clock outputs provide clocks at various PPQN settings, Trigger Reset and/or Run/Stop Gate for DIN-Sync style clock are your eurorack’s best friend.

The ML:2m offers the same small 2HP footprint as the original but provides more functionality through the upgraded TRS outputs that provide the ability to send multiple signals from a single output! So now, you have the option to generate both CV Clock and Trigger Reset from the same physical output (A) through the use of a dual mono TRS adapter jack (included in the box). MIDI Clock can then be accessed from the physical output (B) through the use of a TRS A MIDI adapter (also included in the box)!

All of these synchronisation options can be simultaneously used, providing a powerful solution for both studio and live setups. Connect The ML:2m’s analog clock outputs to your eurorack modular synth, connect the TRS MIDI Out port to your favourite drum machine and simultaneously synchronise wirelessly to your Ableton Link enabled device for a hassle free yet extremely tight synchronisation solution. Skippy Exp: an expander for Skippy

video upload by Kaona modular music

"Skippy Exp is a tiny module in 2HP that adds "Play/Stop" and "Reset" functions to Skippy, either via a button or a CV input."

"Skippy Exp is a very small module that in 2HP adds to Skippy the 'Play/Stop' function and the 'Reset' function, either with a button or with a CV input. It cannot work independently and you absolutely need Skippy to use it.

For those who do not need the live settings that Skippy Live allows (or who no longer have space!), Skippy EXP nevertheless allows you to add two essential functions for a dynamic game.

This module cannot work in parallel with Skippy Live which already has these two functions. It can be placed on the right or on the left. The connector to connect it to Skippy is provided. This module does not need to be connected to the power supply."

You can find additional posts featuring Skippy here.

1 Hour Improvisation with Eurorack Modular Synths & Midicake

video upload by midicake

"An hour long, unplanned improv session with Midicake ARP and a very limited Eurorack setup.

Consisting of just 4 synths: 2hp Kick, 2hp Pluck, Knobula Pianophonic, Knobula Polycinematic. The Specular Tempus is providing reverb.

It's surprising just what variation you can get with this small setup. The sound is recorded as is with no post editing. I hope you enjoy!"

4/4/24 (swarm) Gieskes Klok & No Drum + Zerosum Inertia PLXNA2 + OAM Uncertainty + Lexicon PCM 70

video upload by Cfpp0

"Butterflies, bats, 16mm swarm: Gieskes Klok modulates itself and No Drum and Olivia Artz Modular Uncertainty, which modulates No Drum, while Klok gates No Drum."

You cand find additional Gieskes Kok module posts here.

This appears to be the first post to feature Olivia Artz Modular. Details on their modules follow via Perfect Circuit and Noisebug.

"Uncertainty from Olivia Artz Modular is a 2hp coin toss module; it is open source, with new, user-swappable firmware being developed. So, it will continue to grow and offer new functionality!

In the standard firmware, the top input accepts gates, triggers, or any signal between -5V and +5V. Based on whether the input is positive or negative, it uses two different types of logic to produce gates at the corresponding eight outputs. If the input is above +1V, then the module does eight differently-weighted "coin tosses"—one for each output. If the outcome of the toss is "heads," a +5V signal is output for as long as the input stays above 1V. If the input signal is -1V or lower, a slightly different coin toss algorithm is used, where the outputs are paired—if the result of the toss is "heads," the upper output of the pair in question sends out a signal, and if it's "tails," the lower outputs sends out a signal.

Alternate firmwares are available for free, and loading them is as easy as plugging in your module via the rear PCB USB connection, dragging on a file, and you're done. The first new official firmware is a VU meter—with the panel LEDs displaying the current voltage level, and each LED getting a dedicated gate output—somewhat like a multi-window comparator! Olivia Artz's Uncertainty module is a great way to add chance operations to your rack without sacrificing space.

UNCERTAINTY FEATURES

2HP chance module with alternate firmwares available
Default firmware uses two distinct coin toss algorithms to convert incoming bipolar signals into eight streams of outgoing gates
Open source
One CV input with 10-bit resolution
Eight gate outputs"

Your Oscillators New Best Friend! // VCO's Little Helper (VLH) by Takaab (SIAM Modular)

video upload by DivKid

"Here we're checking out VCO's Little Helper (the VLH) by Takaab (who are SIAM Modular too). It's a small 2hp module that can work like an expander for any oscillator you want to use it with. There's two inputs giving you two octaves of sub oscillators (-1 and -2), ring modulation, a noise source and thru outputs to save multiples or stacking cables to keep patching with your inputs.

Here's what Takaab have to say 'VCO’s Little Helper is a eurorack module that supercharges your existing oscillators by adding a ring mod, sub and noise. The VLH was designed in collaboration with journalist and musician Steve O'Hear following a conversation asking how we could squeeze the features found in the VCO section of many vintage synthesizers into a eurorack system.'

VLH is also a affordable addition to a Eurorack system priced around £/€/$100 (it's 4040 Thai Baht). It's available direct here // https://www.siammodular.com/takaab-vl...

Here's the mini documentary on how the VLH came to life"
