Chamber of Sounds JUPITER III with Jupiter Time Clock Module

"JUPITER III - Analog Percussion Synthesizer and Optical Theremin with Time Clock

You've probably seen them at Analogueheaven or MoogAudio, but no one but Chamber of Sounds has the Jupiter Clock module! You get both the awesome Jupiter III synth + a green Jupiter Clock, a great combo for some unique sound-making. Both units are signed, dated and numbered by the creator. This will be the only green Jupiter Clock available to the public, so don't miss out.

Smack it, trigger it, or shine some light on it...
The Jupiter III, analog, percussion synthesizer and optical theremin is both light & touch sensitive. It's handmade, built to last and extremely, unique sounding. It will get any crazy analog sounds you could imagine on the fly - from very fat, low bass to super high, sweeps, bleeps, chirps and glitchy cross-modulations. It has a trigger input to plug any source into it - a drum machine, metronome, mp3 player and of course the matching Jupiter Clock, to control the rhythm or make the unit sustain indefinitely. In Jupiter III’s manual, percussive mode you can bang on the box to get a wide array of analog sounds. This little guy is highly versatile and can be played many different ways for any situation. Listen to the demos below... Visit Chamber of Sounds for more Jupiter III info." Also see the Chamber of Sounds label below for videos and more previously posted.

SK-Synth: A subtractive FPGA synthesizer

via stekern on this electro-music.com thread:
"This is a project I have been working on for a while.
It is a subtractive synthesizer implemented in an FPGA.
Features:
* 2 DCO's with sawtooth, square, triangle and sine waveform generation
* LFO that can be modulate the filter, amplitude or pitch. Possible waveforms are: sawtooth, square and triangle.
* LP-12 filter with adjustable frequency and resonance.
* Filter envelope
* Amplitude envelope.

I have been using a Avnet spartan 3A devboard with a breakoutboard with midi connector and a I2S DA-converter.
In this device the polyphony is set to 8 voices, but it is easily adjustable in the VHDL-source code. I also have received reports that it is easy to implement several SK-Synths to achieve multitimbrality (on a spartan-3e board).

The synth is controlled by a computer application written in Qt and it runs on both Linux and Windows.

The source code for the synth and the controller application and schematics for the breakoutboard can be found in my SVN-repository here
Here is a zipped SVN-snapshot from 2010-08-05"

BugBrand Weevil08 Weevil Noise Synth

via this auction
"Finally! After 5 years in the dark dungeon that has been the BugBrand Workshop I am just about to move to a better place! Over that time I have picked up quite a stack of bits'n'pieces and it is really time to have a serious clear-out -> to clear space, to pass on unused items and to generate some funds for setting up the new workshop. So! Over the next few weeks I will be running several Ebay auctions...
BugBrand Weevil08
This was the final Weevil08 I produced and I decided to keep it for myself, but think it should go now to a new loving home!
You can see the original description here.
There's an MP3 demo there too.
This one is painted black and has pretty bright white LED indicators. It is used and in good condition though there are a few scratches - these don't show up too much though due to the black plastic case that was used (see pictures below).
Comes with a fresh 9v battery and I should be able to print out the instruction sheet that I included with Weevil08 sales.
Shipping Weight: 0.50kg"

"These are from the Roland demo at Westfield Mall in Palm Desert, CA. The three kiosks had nearly the same set of instruments, except for the keytar synths. One had a white Lucina, one black Lucina, and one Ax-Synth. One kiosk had instruments mounted lower on the wall."

True to historical form laid out by the '70s-era Taurus I, this is a wide-bottomed 100% analog synthesizer. I got to spend some time with one of the 1,000 units made, plaster my feet all over it and figure out if it actually possible to shred on this 13-pedal, 1-octave beast."

Flight of harmony newsletter – August 2010

"Greetings to all once again!

We’ve been pretty busy lately; mostly with re-structuring the business and a lot of work on the website, but also with two new eurorack modules: V’Amp and POWER.

The V’Amp (8 h.p., US$125.00) is a combination voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) and ring modulator in one device, with the ability to smoothly change from VCA, to ring mod, then to inverting VCA, with one knob.
V’Amp page
V’Amp Barebones Pack (VBP): US$70.00. PCB dimensions: 78mm x 39mm/3” x 1.5”

POWER (US$85.00) is a ±12V 1A power supply in a 10hp eurorack format, is 40mm deep, and is intended mainly for shallow or portable systems, but works just fine for permanent setups. The POWER module includes a 12VAC output wall adapter – keeping the transformer outside of the case helps to keep down hum and magnetically coupled noise – but can be purchased without the adapter for US$75.00. A ±15V 1A option will also be available upon request.

POWER Barebones Pack (PWBP): US$55.00, US$45.00 without adapter The POWER Barebones Pack was designed for easy installation into any project: the AC input, power switch, and LEDs can all be remotely located, and all components and headers are on one side. PCB dimensions: 104mm x 89mm/4.10” x 1.93”
POWER page
POWER images

And it is also fundraising time: Now accepting orders for pre-release V’Amp and POWER modules. The delivery time is 1-3 weeks. In this case, “pre-release” means I just haven’t had time to work on the manuals or packaging yet. Manuals will be available for download from the respective product page once they are completed.

As for the website, Sonja has been doing a lot of work making it more useful and we now have PayPal buttons for in-stock products. There are more changes to come – as soon as we find a good back-end structure that works well – including forums, embedded Soundcloud clips, and other goodies.

We are now accepting orders directly, both U.S.A. and International.

Oh yeah: Stickers. You keep asking for ‘em, so we’re looking into getting some made. If you have an idea for an f(h) sticker that just HAS to be done, let us know!

DRONE RING FX SYNTH

via this auction

"The Drone Ring FX Synthesizer features two squarewave oscillators and a ring modulator. The pitch can be adjust by potentiometers. One of the oscillators can be used as a a vco. It has a preamp before the vco input so you can directly plug e-guitars and microphones into the input of the synthesizer. You can make nice droning and noisy, glitch sounds. The aluminium enclosure is very solid. It is powered by one 9V battery."

Inside a Nord Wave

flickr set by AndyFord69
(click for more)

"By having two oscillators capable of producing a vast array of sounds from classic analog waveforms (with sync), via FM-synthesis, wavetables, sampled waves (single cycle waveforms with attack) as well as noise and other miscellaneous waveforms to - playback of sampled waveforms, the Nord Wave has an unprecedented pallet of sounds.

Need a rich and full string quartet? No problem - just bring up the samples. A highly resonant screaming lead? Sure - virtual analog is there, but why not combine them - not just mix them together - but create an analog sound with the harmonic content of the sampled string quartet!

With oscillator modulation you can transfer the character of one sound to the other - for instance a sampled string to a analog square - and by controlling the amount of modulation the effect can range from very subtle to heavily aggressive were the original sound is no longer recognized."

Encore Electronics Frequency Shifter Review

on Sequence 15

snip:
"A Frequency Shifter is Not the Same as a Pitch Shifter

So what's a frequency shifter? Well, I had a bunch of material that I wrote to address all that, but I've decided to save it for a follow-up post. To keep it short, a frequency shifter is sort of like a pitch shifter, but it does not maintain the harmonic or musical relationships between the various tones and sounds that make the input. What's that good for? Well, for one thing, it's great for bell and chime sounds, and it behaves a lot more predictably than a ring modulator in doing that job. It can do flanging-like effects that range from subtle to startling. It can do creation of sounds that play in unusual intervals and scales. But if you want to completely brutalize a sound, rip it apart and then glue the pieces back together like a ransom note, a frequency shifter is what you want."
