"I was asked a few weeks ago to try doing something a little more 'modern' sounding with the Farlight. I think no matter how many times I watch the Deadmau5 master class, EDM is just not a style that I can produce LOL. Hopefully this is sorta close to modern in the 90's way :D

I used a few of Cuckoo's Continuum samples (which I reprocessed before sampling) and took a lot of samples from my video from a few months back about 'The Mangle' plugin synth. All sampled into the Fairlight then played back."

"This is my first song with the Akai Miniak. It's a virtual analog synth identical to the Alesis Micron, a cut-down version of the Alesis Ion synth. So let's see how good it is for ambient;-)

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Miniak - Elektron Analog Heat - Boss Tera Echo - TC Electronic Mimiq - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - DigiTech Polara. The used fx varied depending on the recorded track.

The signal goes via a small Behringer mixer straight into the pc.

To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with just a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.

Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"

It's possible to lose hours investigating what one of these can do - a very inspiring synth and one of our favourites. It's Duophonic so you can play a bass/drone note and tap out a lead line as well - very effective.

This synth is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age. Inevitably for an instrument that's 30-plus years old there are a few scuffs and marks but nothing major. See detailed photos for more information. Three knobs are not original and two more are missing the tops. It is possible to obtain replacements although none were available when we had the unit serviced. If the buyer requires this then we will look into it.

These classic US synths are vastly underrated and represent excellent value for money compared to their more famous rivals, the Minimoog and Arp Odyssey. They are hard to find, and highly-rated by synth cognoscenti. The flexible nature of this synth means it really punches above its weight: particularly notable features are the cross modulation options and mixable waveforms. It dates from the mid to late 70s and sounds like a classic 70s American monosynth should: powerful and tonally brilliant. Sound design-wise it's almost limitless with an abundance of bass, leads, and sound effects on tap - it's easy (and very rewarding) to lose yourself for hours programming this beast..."

Some info on the demo: 2 sequencers, 1 Wavetable Osc, 2 LFOs, 1 EG (ADSR). The first LFO modulates the Z parameter of the wavetable osc, 1 sequencer modulates freq of the wavetable osc and triggers the ADSR while the other sequencer modulates freq/amp of the other (second) LFO. Manual tweaking of the first LFO frequency, sequencer pattern length, tempos, as well as live editing of sequencer steps. Also experimentation with cloud/spread feature of wavetable osc and manual tweaking of XY parameters of the wavetable oscillator. Sound passes through global delay and reverb section."

They asked ALF to design equipment to copy floppy disks so they could do business in that market as well, but ALF, wanting to focus on their own products, declined. When ALF later began offering the music card software on floppy disks, they quickly discovered that existing methods for copying the disks were slow and extremely unreliable. ALF went back to the cassette duplication company to work with them on creating floppy duplicators, but by that time the cassette company had decided not to enter the floppy business."

Roland SE-02 - 3 Patches - 3 Jams with TR8 - No External FX

"I start with three different patches and tweak a bit. There is nothing but live SE-02 with some delay, and a TR8. Here's what's happening:

0:00 Patch with Square LFO affecting the VCF. Slow beat from TR8
2:18 Starts with just a single Square Wave on VCO 1. Add a second on VCO 2 and get some thick creamy sounds. Open the filter and it sounds very Roland
4:45 Patch changes to single Saw Wave. Then I start cranking the Feedback Circuit and push it into 303 territory. This actually surprised me and I had no idea it was going to do this. I just rolled with it. It probably needs a sequencer to really shine here but all I had were my fingers at the moment
7:18 Moogy brass lead while sweeping the filter."

"This video has four patches demonstrating some of the percussion and melodic sounds that the Noise Engineering Loquelic Iteritas Percido can produce. The first patch is a bass synth with the VOSIM algorithm, the next a bell like synth sound with summation synthesis, the third a percussion sound made with phase modulation and the last a kick drum using summation synthesis.

The Loquelic Iteritas Percido, from Noise Engineering, is an expanded version of their well known oscillator, the Loquelic Iteritas, which turns it into a complete synthesizer voice. Now included is a built in envelope, which can be shaped and modulated by various CV signals if desired. Each parameter has a dedicated envelope modulation amount knob, to provide the perfect architecture for some of the most insane drum sounds possible. It is also able to reach harmonic worlds as well, allowing one to use it for basslines or leads. It still contains the extreme dual oscillator structure with the three algorithms present in the original.

Also included is a buddy seq, which I have not restored as I have plenty of ways to seq.
