Regarding the ClockBox:
"8x MIDI clock generator"

Anyone know where to find more info on it?

Update via Mike: "the Clockbox in the one post is Midibox Clockbox. Attached [below] you can find pictures of my version of this nice tool which is really handy at sessions and live-performances. I've added some functions to the code, e.g. a shuffle-mode. I think Sasha - the builder of the Clockbox in your post has used my extensions in his Clockbox too, as he had asked me for the enhanced code."

via Jules in the comments: "Looks like one of the multiple midibox project : [link]

Look down the page, there are some links and one is a pdf for a 'multiple clockbox'"

Yamaha CS60 MIDI Retrofit Kit

via Kenton where you will find other MIDI kits and more.

"This retrofit kit for the Yamaha CS-60 adds the following MIDI control:

For incoming MIDI:
Any MIDI channel can be selected
Notes (MIDI note numbers 36 - 96) - transpose possible
Program change (numbers 1 - 14 top row and 17 to 30 bottom row)
Pitchbend - (bends up and down a fifth)
Mod Wheel (switch to enable)
Filter cutoff frequency (of low pass filter)
Portamento
Sustain
Volume

By default:
pitchbend is controlled by pitchbend messages
mod wheel is controlled by Mod Wheel (CC#1) and also by Aftertouch messages
filter cutoff is controlled by CC#16
resonance is controlled by CC#17
Volume is controlled by MIDI volume (CC#7)
Sustain is controlled by Sustain (CC#64)
Portamento is controlled by Portamento (CC#65)

however, any controller or aftertouch or velocity can be mapped to control other things so for example velocity could be mapped to control volume.

This kit is to receive MIDI only, no MIDI can be sent from this keyboard.

Hardware:
MIDI In, & Thru sockets
Push button (for programming the MIDI setup)
Setups are stored in non-volatile memory (Eeprom)

The kit comprises the following items:
Circuit board - fits in the base of the CS-60
Small pack - contains DIN sockets and mounting hardware
Large pack - contains cable assemblies
User instructions - How to change from default settings and general instructions
Fitting instructions - step by step fitting guide plus diagrams of where to connect what

All kits are fully checked and tested before despatch

Note: Our retrofit kits are not intended for installation by the end user. They should always be fitted by an experienced synth engineer, particularly this model as it is hardest of all our kits to fit."

Tim Stinchcombe - Diode Ladder Filters

"The success of the Moog transistor ladder filter quickly gave rise to a number of 'look-alikes', which employed diodes in the ladder in order to circumvent the Moog patent. Two of the better-known examples are the Roland TB-303 filter [pictured], and the EMS filter, as used in the VCS3 (and probably other models) - this is the 4-pole '18dB' one; later filters had 5 poles, and were labelled '24dB'"

Kaossilator step by step

Kaossilator step by step from Toumal Rakesh on Vimeo.
"Fooling around with the Korg Kaossilator. Note that I had to use the hidden 16-bar mode (activated by holding the BPM and Loop buttons on powerup), that's why I had to turn it off and on in the middle. I wasn't sure how things would turn out, hence I used the KP3 to sample several parts to be able to turn them on and off lateron.

All in all, the Kaossilator is a useful and fun device. Here's hoping that a possible successor adds save/load functionality, more sounds and a pattern sequencer ;)"

"The BOSS SYB-5 bass synth trigged by its own feedback, by Kulten the SYB synth addict !

I use the 2 "LFO modes" with "Square" sound (mode 6) and "Saw" sound (mode 3). Works good with the SYB-5 and not with the SYB-3 : the SYB-3 don't have LFO.

I often do that in concert. Actually, I already did a gig only with my SYB-5 (ambiant/indus), and another only with the SYB-3 and my DR-110 drum machine (electro/indus). But most of the time I play with both SYB on stage."

Making loops with single AudioCube

YouTube via Percussa
"Chris from UCSD emails us with a patch in Max/MSP and accompanying video in which he uses a single audiocube to create loops.

the audiocube's 4 sensors control 4 parameters of a VST instrument, which are recorded into a looping sequencer and played over the original recording, allowing the performer to create a loop quickly and shape the sound and musical patterns using has hands and fingers, like a piece of clay.

the parameters are recorded in high resolution and speed for smooth continuous control.

My First Synth Demo from Elan Hickler on Vimeo.
"This is my first synth demo EVARRR!!!!"

A strange thing happened the day after Christmas...

"A Bugbrand Weevil 08, showed up and knocked on my door this morning. He was very cute, and the weather outside, was very cold. I invited him in.

I gave him a standard greeting, and introduced him to my Mattson Mini Modular, whereupon, I said I would go fetch some tea.

Well, wondrous things do often come to pass and never cease to amaze me, on my way back up the stairs, I heard a very perturbable conversation ensuing...

Luckily, I was able to capture it in a quicktime blip, as well as a written transcript.

The conversation went as follow, please read transcription concurrently with the audio rendition [launch, listen and read the following translation while playing]:

"Hello"
"Hello"
"What's up?"
" Well......."
"(Let's) Hang Out, Together ! "
(Sound of Laughter)"
"What the F@#%CK ! "
"Hell NO!"
"Boy Friend-Together-(let's) Hang Out !"
"Hell NO! (I've got to) Comb my Hair, Brush my Teeth, Wash my Face...."
"Bud Light-Bud Light-Bud Light, I'm so wasted ! " ( Begins to laugh like a Drunken Monkey)
"By the way..........HANG UP ! "
"Anyway..........."
"Good By " .....(Click)......
"Wow.............So What.............Oh What Ever..............."

Standing there, at the top of the Stair Case, with 3 Cups of Tea, a Machine 3 Sheets to the Wind, and my Jaw on the Floor, I was besides myself with a conundrum of condarned confusion............ That was no way for the MMM and the Weevil to be conducting themselves. Sensing my displeasure, at their apparent lack of civility, the MMM spun round seemingly trying to tell me something. Then I noticed it, he wasn't even patched in! He couldn't have been involved in that conversation, after all, he and I had been getting along grandly since his arrival a week ago...

I quickly arrived at the obvious conclusion: I had a Rude/ Drunk/ Schizophrenic Weevil.

OK, Mattson Mini Modular stays, Weevil has to go......any takers? (LOL)

Moog Sonic Six

via this auction

"This is a later model Sonic Six which has the classic Moog 24db filter. Early Sonic Six's have a much weaker filter. This synth has two oscillators, two LFO's which can be used together or separately (to create strange waveforms), ring modulator, portamento, external input, internal speaker, white and pink noise, and sound can bypass the filter or VCA so you can set up drones if you wish. It's a VERY flexible mono."

JÃœRGEN HAIBLE Subtle Chorus (Roland Dimension D clone) part kits

via Tobias on AH:
"Hey you guys,

I'm going to offer sets for the Subtle Chorus main board and the BBD board.

Project details:

http://www.jhaible.de/subtle_chorus/jh_subtle_chorus.html

http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26527

For those who are going to build the Dim T or Dim TD version I suggest the Tau part kits from Bridechamber. Scott is a cool guy and does a perfect job.

IMPORTANT: I won't be able to ship part kits before mid january, as I do have a job ouside of town until then. But of course you can order those from now on.

Main board:

This is the TL072 version part kit. I won't offer the vintage kit, as especially the power transistors are not that easy to source in larger quantities. Same for the HA1457W.
At least I didn't find a supplier for those so far.

Main board parts kit contains all parts per Jürgens BOM, no panel mount parts.

Price: 77 (~ 109 us$)

BBD board:

This kit also contains TL071 / TL072 instead of HA1457W.
The BBD and Clock chips (MN3007 and MN3101) are original NOS Matsushita/Panasonic chips, and the compander chips are NOS Philips SA571.

BBD board kits contain all parts as per Jürgens BOM, no panel mount parts.

Price: 118 (~ 166 us$)

Shipping: small parcel via DHL
in Germany: 5 (~ 7 us$), insured 8 (~ 12 us$)
Europe: 8 (~ 12 us$)
Rest of the world: 14 (~ 20 us$)

As you can see the prices in us$ are estimated. That is because there was a little bit confusion about exchange rates lately, so I'm going to charge you in . This way you will get the correct daily exchange rate.

Please send your order to:

ts-parts (a t) web . de

(you know how this goes: name@ etc...)

Please include the quantity and type of kit in the about line

(like this: Order for 2 Subtlr Chorus BBD kits...)

Please include in the mail:

- your name
- full adress
- how you like to pay (bank transfer or paypal - if paypal: please include your paypal billing adress)
- from which list/forum you come

I will send you an email with all details about payment and other information. If you're paying via paypal you will also receive a paypal invoice.

I'm looking forward to hear from you.

Best wishes,

Tobias"

Et la tendresse?... Bordel!

via swissdoc. Note this one is NOT safe for work. It features an ARP 2600 and a pretty analog DIY controller. :)

It is taken from the French movie "Et la tendresse?... Bordel!" from 1979

Here the movie title was
"Verdammt noch mal...wo bleibt die Zärtlichkeit"

The text translates to:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, the music came from your flat?
Yes, ideed, is it disturbing you?
No, it makes me curious.
Do you live here in that house?
No, I just wanted to ask you some questions for a survey.
Survey?
Yes, such an opinion survey...

Excuse me, I could understand if you would close the door in my face,
but I would really like to know what you are doing here?

Would it be very indiscreet to ask, what's going on here?

You know, we produce music from our emotions. We transform our sensation
of pleasure into music. Listen...

Who ist that?
I just wanted to ask you some questions for a survey.
What questions?
I don´t think that will interest you, it is about the pros and cons of
advertisment in sports broadcasting.

Do you change once in a while? I mean, do you let her stroke you?

Yes, but the music from a man is much more rudimentary. The female sensation
for pleasure is more suble, has more nuances and the music as well.

May I try? Please?

That´s normal, because, there is no love between you and her..."
