Pachelbels-theremin

Pachelbels-theremin by rh2y
"Hmm, I'm almost afraid to post this, as people will be showing up at my door with torches and pitchforks once they play it. Here's a good example of why you should not turn on your multitracker late at night after becoming punchy.

Three track theremin performance by me. Probably good for scaring cats away."

CR78 - The Machine. Delivering Drum Machines In A Whole New LIght.

via Zenhiser
"As you know by now, we are big fans of the 80s and thought of how we could supply a drum machine series that was a little different from the rest, and this is how it panned out. "CR78 - The Machine" has all the CR78 drum sounds you'll need, recorded perfectly from the original machine and supplied in both flat and outboard tweaked versions. We've used the best vintage and digital software / hardware to polish the drum sounds and show them in their light for today's use but included the originals as well to supply that authentic classic Roland CR78 sound.

On top of that why have a sample pack that just supplies the drum sounds, what about the beats! Well "CR78 - The Machine" also delivers two very different collections of drum beats, "The Classic Folder" delivering the essential drum beats that the CR78 are so famously known for, and "The Modern Folder", a perfect collection of today's beats created solely using the CR78 drum sounds and supplied with multiple takes including with kick, without kick and stripped own versions. All the classic and modern drum beats also include bpm information within the file name for fast use."

Livid Block Midi Controller for Ableton Traktor etc

via this auction

"ivid describe the Block as "...a compact and programmable MIDI control surface designed for interactive audio performance... providing a powerful interface for creating and interacting with sound in a small easy-to-transport body. Backlight LED buttons provide endless possibilities for visual feedback with presets and template available for Ableton Live, Propellerhead's Reason and Record, Traktor Pro, Max/MSP, ArKaos' Grand VJ, and Cell DNA. A growing number of open source applications and utilities turns the block into the ultimate adaptable and portable control surface."

Not only that, but it's easy to use it as a Monome-style interface by using the Monome bridge software, or use a stack of native apps for it provided by Livid - see http://bit.ly/mYoXgJ

Don't assume it's only useful in sound production - you can use it to launch video clips, run lighting rigs or even a combo of all of these at the same time.

Blocks are HAND-CRAFTED in Texas by Livid - have a look at http://bit.ly/nnRVpx for more details and some great videos of it in action!"

"Two MacBooks both running Ableton Live 8.2.2. Master MacBook running Sync-Gen II driving the Sync-Lock. Precision Midi Clock from Sync-Lock feeds Midi Input on Slave MacBook Soundcard. Sync-Gen II sets overall tempo-sync offset in samples to compensate for start-lag and slave soundcard latency. As the Midi Clock feeding the slave MacBook is sample accurate with zero jitter and does not compete with any other Midi Data traffic - the sync between master and slave computers is very stable and the offset is fixed. No editing, warping or time correcting of samples - all sounds are stock off the Ableton Live Demo install. No track delay, driver compensation or effects used. A pair of outputs from each MacBook recorded directly as a stereo pair into SoundForge 9."

Live Techno Series #7 [Electribe ER-1, MC-909, Virus TI, Waldorf Blofeld]

YouTube Uploaded by siedgey on Jul 28, 2011

"Thanks for watching! The time has come again to add to the ever increasing number of videos in my Live Techno Series collection. For those who don't know, this is all about producing techno using hardware.

This time around I have made a dark, loopy techno track. Setup-wise, my new Electribe ER-1 is the master clock, sending MIDI to the 909, which passes it on to the Virus. The Blofeld isn't using MIDI, it's just playing some sustained notes through the audio in on the ER-1 which is ring modulating them against a kick drum, producing a nice tweakable noise (you can hear it best at the end of the track).

The ER-1 is playing the kick drum, clap and a couple of hi hats as well, the Virus is providing the synth parts and the 909 is playing a few extra percussion parts.

As always, your comments are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions then let me know and I'll be happy to answer them!

Thanks again,

Simon"

Prophet-5 with Integrated Pitch Ribbon, Remote Prophet & Poly Sequencer

via this auction

"Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev. 3.3 synthesizer with the Remote Keyboard and the Polysequencer. This instrument is in excellent condition and has a number of unique modifications. A Yamaha CS80 touch strip has been added which offers zero indexing and up to a two octave pitch bend. This is an extremely useful addition which gives this Prophet one of the big selling points of the CS80. The existing pitch wheel still functions as expected.

This synth also has MIDI and the addition of a second control input allowing the Polysequencer and the Remote keyboard to be connected simultaneously. This unit is in beautiful condition and all of the original 120 factory programs have been restored. The cabinet is in almost perfect condition with very negligible cosmetic wear. All functions work as expected and the unit sounds great. The Remote keyboard looks absolutely brand new and works perfectly. The Polysequencer is included for free as an untested item and is not part of the price. The Prophet 5 and the Remote Keyboard will be shipped in very nice road cases and include all of the required connecting cables."

"Sequential circuits, after the great Prophet 5 and the VS, turned to sampling. The 2000/2002 has the same crunchy 12-bit sampling as it's contemporary the S950, but unlike the 950 had a real analog VCF and VCA on each voice. The 2002 plus is the studio pro version with 512K of memory (double the usual) and 8 individual outs (plus the stereo main). Intended as a true synthesizer that used samples instead of VCOs, it's extremely flexible and musical, but it of course also knocks hard on drums, letting you get just the crunch you want, but also letting you but warm things like crashes and hats up nicely with the filters..."

Eowave Persephone MKI desktop version analog synthesizer

via this auction

"The Persephone is a fingerboard analogue synthesizer with CV and MIDI in and out. At the first sight, the Persephone reminds of the first electronic fingerboard instruments developed in the 1920s. But beyond this vintage look, the Persephone allies sensors technology and digital controls to a pure analogue generation of sound. The Persephone musicality will be determined by the way it is played. The Persephone respects the traditional play of the first non-keyboard electronic instruments with the right hand controlling the pitch and the left hand controlling the velocity. The ribbon zone can allow all kinds of play. When scaled, the Persephone can be played like a regular keyboard. Though there are no fixed preset notes with the ribbon, keyboard players will easily find their way. Guitars and bass players will certainly play it like a chord instrument and get sounds that are closed to cello or violin, especially when using vibratos. Jazz players will enjoy slapping the Persephone’s ribbon to get wonderful sonorities. Movie music writers and fans of sci-fi effects will enjoy its bi-dimensional structure, which allows creating eerie sounds very easily. A new fingerboard synthesizer Just like any synthesizer, the Persephone offers a classical synthesis architecture with an oscillator section, a filter section, a modulation section and a LFO section. With its 100% analogue oscillator, the Persephone can generate notes with a range of 10 octaves. Its lower frequencies go from a deep and resonant cello tone to a nearly human voice. On the highest pitches, it can reach very high frequencies. The oscillator waveform can be set between triangle and sawtooth for a more or less brilliant sound. The filter is a 12dB low-pass filter. Its ribbon control surface is pressure and position sensitive. While it requires the most advanced sensor technology and allows all kind of glissando a Theremin or les Ondes Martenot would allow. A scaling potentiometer allows scaling the Persephone’s ribbon from 1, 2, 5 to 10 octaves. The expression key, controlled by an optic sensor, can transmit the slightest vibrations on the key with an accuracy the mechanical systems never had. All the controls are digital. The four play modes - A, B, C and D - offer different hierarchy of control between the pitch, the velocity, a filter modulation and a LFO. Connections are located on the rear side of the front panel and are protected from dust and other source of deterioration by the Persephone suitcase top when not used. The Persephone like a CV/MIDI controller The Persephone has a CV out and a MIDI in/out. With its CV out, it can control any other analogue synthesizers and modular systems. With its MIDI in/out, it can also be used as a MIDI controller, what turns it into a powerful new kind of instrument. Technical Specifications Suitcase version or desktop version available Scale : a scaling potentiometer allows to scale the Persephone’s ribbon from 1, 2, 5 to 10 octaves. Eurostep Jam #2

Eurostep Jam #2 from cv slime 800 on Vimeo.

"'Eurostep' was probably only intended to be a jokey genre title. A few people have made use of it in videos or mp3s posted on the muffwiggler forum. Basically, I take it to mean current trends in dance music (most notably dubstep) interpreted on Eurorack modular synth (well, it wouldn't have to be Eurorack format in particular but you get the idea) rather than using software like Ableton Live or whatever else. I like this idea though, so I am going to run with it as an actual genre. Join in.

As far as the patch goes, each sound went through individual channels of the Make Noise QMMG and were mixed together into the various inputs of the Elby Designs CGS735 Synthacon filter.

A droning root note from the Harvestman Piston Honda was sent into the audio input of the Cwejman VM-1 Voice module. A random noise voltage was being quantized by the Doepfer A-156 Dual Quantizer to the notes of a minor 7 chord for the VM-1 CV input. The droning audio input is then mixed in with the VM-1 internal Oscilator creating duophonic chordal basslines."

"this was originally a short solo piano improvisation i made one night:

soundcloud.com/ioflow/20110331-1

weldroid (weldroid.net) liked it enough to share with me his vision of the track, which was considerably re-amped and synth-fuzzed, and he gave my sketch a title: "light showers," which conjured up all kinds of awesome imagery. i liked his interpretation of the material enough to modify his stems, and then perform my modified version live, unrehearsed. it's even beatier and volt-warped than weldroid's arrangement, thus: "electrified."

ioflow > weldroid > ioflow > your eyes+ears

"Tabletop is the first musical environment designed from the ground up exclusively for the large touchscreen of the iPad. The focus is on interactive devices and instruments that sound amazing. TableTop - Retronyms - iTunes

"July 28, 2011 – San Francisco, CA
Today Retronyms, makers of iOS apps DopplerPad, ReBirth, Recorder and Synth, released Tabletop, a modular audio environment app for iPad. Tabletop is the first app built for iPad featuring audio devices that users can mix and match. These devices emulate hardware found in tabletop DJ and producer setups: instruments, samplers, effects, mixers, sequencers, turntables, and more. One simply drags the desired device to the tabletop surface and wires it up to a mixer as they would with real-world hardware.

Tabletop is built exclusively for the iPad to be expressive, playable and fun. Both professional artists and those with no knowledge of music production can jump right in and start sketching out ideas or composing entire songs. Electronic musician Paul Salva says, “It took no time at all for me to acclimate. I had literally never touched Tabletop before, and within minutes I had some crazy stuff rocking.” To answer any questions about how the app or any of its devices function, Tabletop comes with a built-in user guide.

Users can expand their studio at any time, buying only the gear they need from a growing catalog. Tabletop is available at launch for a substantially discounted price of $4.99 and includes 9 of 15 available devices:

RS3 – Polyphonic Keyboard
Gridlok – Touchpad Sampler
M8RX – Tone Matrix
Filtr LP – Low-Pass Filter Effect
SpinBack – Turntable Player
